00:00So very soon in Tobago, there will be an independent hotline, right? An independent hotline where
00:08persons can call without their number being recognized, yeah? So make your complaints,
00:16to give information, so that sort of thing to the police.
00:19Senior Superintendent of Police Earl Eli at Thursday night's police town meeting in Black
00:25Rock. Eli sought to set the record straight, comparing statistics of crime last year to
00:32this year, starting with November 2023.
00:3559 reported serious crimes, right? For November, this period, 1st to 18th November. 59 last
00:46year. This year, we have 15. So it has reduced from 59 to 15 in the month of November. October
01:022023, there were 86 reports of serious crimes. October 2024, there were 76. September 2023,
01:17there were 80. September 2024, 57. So we are seeing a reduction.
01:26The senior superintendent also touched on road accidents in Tobago
01:30and made particular reference to one on October 19th, when three young women lost their lives.
01:37He said more must be done by the authorities to preserve lives.
01:42By where that accident occurred, you know, you ask yourself if there were better lighting
01:50conditions. You ask yourself if that road was properly marked, painted with signs dividing.
01:58You ask yourself if there were some things in the road to slow you down, right? Because my
02:04information is not the first time that accidents of that nature happened here.
