00:00So a busy week for us at Celtic TV, great to see the guys back in pre-season training,
00:16we will be following them in our journeys to Ireland, Portugal and Italy before competitive
00:24action gets underway, you can see all pre-season games live on Celtic TV, you're inside the
00:34UK and Ireland, not the Newcastle game at the moment but every other game outside the UK
00:42and Ireland, the game available, so plenty of action, hopefully we'll see the new signings
00:50as well on the pitch in the not too distant future, Benjamin Negrin had his first pre-season
00:57training day today and then come back along with all the other internationals, here in
01:03Tierney of course we'll see him at some point no doubt very soon back in the hoops on the
01:07pitch, he'll be a huge player for Celtic this season not just on the pitch but in the dressing
01:13room as well just driving those standards the way that the boys like Callum McGregor and
01:18James Forrest do.
01:20Absolutely, there's no doubt of that and listen we've got a chipper hat to Greg Taylor, I thought
01:23he was outstanding for the period he was here with Celtic and we wish him nothing but the
01:27best, there's absolutely a doubt of that, but Kieran, you know boyhood Celtic man, people
01:32talk about that lightly, I think it's so so important that you still, people know that
01:36in the ages as well, it's very very important, we're talking about being shining examples to
01:41these young players, how they can get there, there is an opportunity to get there and Kieran
01:47on that and Callum McGregor and James Forrest and that of this world, he's getting an opportunity
01:50to share a dressing room with these guys and see what it takes, I had the great experiences
01:55with the great Danny McGrane and the great Tommy Burns who got a dressing room, Roy Aikens,
02:00all guys, when you went into dressing room you knew the standards that were set and that
02:04was so so important so somebody like Kieran coming back is fantastic for that.
02:07Yeah, you're right and we should mention Anthony Ralston in that one as well, he perhaps doesn't get the game time that the others do but what you notice behind the scenes is, again, how an
02:13influential figure someone like Anthony is in the dressing room as well, I think similar to Greg, I don't think the supporters realised just how influential he was in the dressing room until we started getting a little bit of access to dressing room footage and you know, cup finals and semi-finals and you saw just what an influential figure Greg was and it's the same for a number of these Scottish lads including Anthony.
02:39Yeah, absolutely, I mean I was fortunate enough, I was with Greg and with Scotland actually, we went to an under-20s tournament in too long and I see how important his character was, you know, it's so so important and as I say, you can sign for Celtic and you can handle it once you're there, I've seen a lot of hell of a good players coming, not been able to handle it and I think he's been outstanding.
02:59Yeah, top players who...
03:00Yeah, absolutely, 100% because it is difficult, his intensity is there all the time, you're expected to win the treble every season now, you know, that's the standard that's set now with the quality that the players have got, people talk about finances, but you don't want to be with the bank, you want to be on the pitch, the character that's on the pitch.
03:16Alexi Tierney coming back at the age, he's at 27, fantastic signing, I mean I'm so surprised the likes of the top teams here in England don't have a go at him because they're always taught that left backs are very difficult positions, so I'm delighted that he's managed to come back to Celtic Football Club.
03:30OK, so there are going to be a number of changes to this Celtic line-up, there could be quite a few, we'll have to pick them out as we go, I won't have a note in front of me of the changes that were pre-planned, so Peter, you'll have to help pick them out.
03:50So outfield players on the bench, we did have Ben Summers, Ben McPherson, Rachel Robertson, Kyle Ewer, Sean McArdle, Thomas Hatton, Francis Turley, Stephen Welsh, Andrew Kyle, Sammy Isaguzo and young Connor Bailey.
04:14Isaguzo is on the background there, Ben Summers nearest to us, so there's a number of changes, not so much for Queen's Park there, very much full strength as they get ready for the League Cup round.
04:30So it's Aguzo up front, Celtic.
04:40And it's for Queen's Park, early in the second half.
04:46Keep defending there, Queen's Park looking to get themselves back level in this game.
04:5418-year-old Andrew Kyle.
05:02Yeah, he done well at the front post there, Kyle, because he went along and matched the run to the front post, brought there first, which is always important for a young defender, when the ball's coming in the box.
05:12Stephen Welsh has got the armband as he comes on as well, so...
05:16Welsh, the experience at the back.
05:22Celtic win the free kick.
05:28What's doing, still in goal.
05:30Celtic.
05:32There's Kyle.
05:38Inside, looking for another Kyle, but that's Kyle Ewer.
05:44We've got a first-name Kyle and a second-name Kyle.
05:48All the best for that one, Jerry.
05:50Francis Turley's there too, Ben Summers I mentioned, so...
05:54Sam, pretty much a Celtic B team.
06:00As coached by Stephen McManus, out there.
06:08The ball played...
06:10Kyle...
06:12Summers...
06:14It's good for these young players, get an opportunity to come on.
06:20Summers...
06:22Cross looking for...
06:24It's a good-so...
06:26Take from...
06:28Ryan Ferry.
06:30Ben Summers, a player who...
06:32Some...
06:46Some...
06:47Game time...
06:48Der Ange Postacoglut.
06:53Looking to...
06:54Make an impression...
06:56In front of Brendan Rodgers, Brendan Rodgers always says he's open to...
07:00The young talent coming through, but they have to be ready, they have to be right.
07:04Yeah, and...
07:05This is ideal time to do it, you know, make sure that you're on the trip.
07:08Because...
07:09First and foremost...
07:10So with your performance, that's what you want to be doing.
07:12You want to be going on that trip with the first team.
07:13You want to be under the manager's nose all the time throughout pre-season.
07:17I think that's very, very important.
07:19And that's the challenge that's ahead of them.
07:21We know there's senior players to come.
07:23But at the end of the day, you can still show the manager what you can do in this environment,
07:27and that's so important for them.
07:31Robertson to...
07:32Andrew Kyle...
07:33Robertson, again.
07:40He's doing well off his line.
07:44There's Turley.
07:48Lies it back to Andrew Kyle.
07:56You'll be looking at who's the leaders in it, because Callum McGregor's not there, Engels is not there, McCown's not there.
08:01So they'll be looking at who can take the leadership.
08:03Small things like that.
08:05It's not necessarily a performance because Brendan knows these boys are not ready for...
08:09to be at this top quality yet because they're just back pre-season.
08:12What they will be looking for saying who's going to take the ball, who's going to be organising the team.
08:16You know you've got Stephen Welsh who naturally does that.
08:18Can other boys take that responsibility as well, these younger ones?
08:21They kick a wobbly there.
08:31You've got some...
08:32You know you've got some help?
08:33That's my goal.
08:34That's your goal!
08:35That's your goal!
08:36That's your goal!
08:37The team captain Andrew Kyle has Turley to his left
08:44Inside him is Ben Summers Turley back to Summers
08:51He's a little one to Kyle Ewer
08:58All forward there from Mitchell Robertson
09:02Trying to keep the pace of the passing up
09:06One out of space on the left hand side at Andrew Kyle
09:13Great opportunity for these teenagers and boys in their early 20s
09:19To play for the Celtic first team
09:24He'll be fairly hot and every time he's received it in the right wing at this moment in time
09:27He's been positive, he's got the ball, he's went and been direct
09:30And a manager will be looking for things like that
09:32Listen, he's lost possession, he's maybe not got the cross in because he's been good defending
09:36At least he's been positive
09:38As I say, you maybe only get one opportunity to impress a manager
09:41Make sure you're ready to take it
09:43Absolutely
09:46Completely different outfield 10 in this second half then
09:52Ben Summers, Ben McPherson, Mitchell Robertson, Kyle Ewer, Sean McArdle, Thomas Hatton, Francis Turley, Stephen Welsh, Andrew Kyle and Sammy Isaguzzo
10:00Only young Connor Daly
10:02In the bench, just 16 years old, signed his first professional contract last week
10:07Yes, Mike Cole down
10:11Well done Cole, well done son
10:16Side to Ewer
10:19Back out, wide left to
10:21Early
10:23Taking down
10:25Swat on, Lory then
10:28Swat on
10:29Swat on
10:30Here again
10:34Welsh
10:35Welsh
10:37Down the right hand side for Celtic, McArdle over there
10:58Welsh
10:59To Robertson
11:02Kyle
11:071-0 at the moment to Celtic, Johnny Kenny's first half goal, the difference between the sides
11:24Celtic
11:28Driving down that
11:29Right hand side, Hatton again
11:31Ball's out for
11:36Celtic throwing
11:38Bersin takes it quickly
11:40Welsh
11:41Anything you said about Brendan talking about the young players, you know, making sure that they're willing to make mistakes, not be frightened to make mistakes
11:48Move the ball quickly, don't be trying things because you've got a Celtic first team jersey on that you don't usually do
11:54That's the reason he's given the opportunity to pull the jersey on, I'm sure he wouldn't give them it lightly
12:00Because at Celtic you're always expected to be winning games even if it's a pre-season friendly
12:05That's what we'll be doing, winning the ball back
12:07It's Aguzo
12:11Leads that one off
12:15Hatton does well
12:18Has he won Celtic a corner? He has
12:21Aguzo maybe just never put enough weight on it, he should just put it a little bit further in front
12:25That they gave Hatton an opportunity either to take a touch and have a strike or hit it first time
12:31Taking shot by
12:33Mercado, cross blocked, Celtic throw
12:35They switch it out to this left-hand side, Francis Turley, nice footwork, shields the ball
12:55Support with Kyle, he's part player, touches at last, Celtic throw
12:58A number of these players, it's the first time playing in the Celtic first team, okay, it might not be a competitive match but it's a huge occasion for
13:16Some of these boys who are recently playing in the under-18s
13:21Over the top there from Ewer
13:25Someone's just unable to catch that one before it goes out of play
13:32Yeah, but you're right, because I think the manager looks at different things here
13:37I think he's looking, can they handle the jersey? Because that's important for them
13:41You know, he's there at the game and he doesn't maybe see a lot of their matches because they're played in the same day or whatever
13:47So, you've always got to try and catch his eye
13:50If they lose possession, do they try and win it back quickly?
13:52All the small details that you said earlier in the first half that they've got to match what the first team do
13:58And that's the purpose of the B team
14:04That's why Steve McManus coaches in conjunction with
14:09Brendan Rodgers' philosophy so that when the players do get the opportunity
14:12The system, the way they play, the intensity
14:17It's second nature
14:19As they do it week in, week out
14:24That team, of course, playing the Lowland League
14:28They did very well last season qualifying for the last 16 of the UEFA Youth League as well
14:31with some notable results
14:48Longridge
14:49There's that one back, cleared quickly by Ferri
14:54Teguizu was in there, looking for any scraps
14:58Yeah, but it's simple we said about the first half as well
15:02That they know not to go through the middle all the time
15:04Did they read it?
15:05Youth tried a couple of really good passes
15:07But now he says they're narrow and up now
15:09Try to cut the passes off
15:11So where's the space?
15:12The space is probably in the wider areas now
15:14Does he see that as a player?
15:15That's what the likes of things I'm sure Brendan Rodgers will be looking at in his coaching staff
15:19Can he mix it up?
15:20Can he go wide?
15:21Can he see that forward pass?
15:22Can he split the defenders?
15:24Because in that area of the pitch that's what you'll be expected to do
15:27Joe Robertson to Andrew Kyle
15:52Kyle Ewer
15:58Playing in that Callum McGregor role in the middle of the park
16:01Not so well for the B team
16:06That's nice play
16:07McPherson, in comes the cross
16:10Plenty bodies back there for Queen's Park
16:12Ball breaks to Ben Somers
16:13Try to
16:15Quickly shoot on the tongue
16:17His effort was blocked as Stephen Welsh
16:19Stephen Welsh
16:20Goes down
16:22Done an aerial challenge
16:23Using a bit of his experience there was Welsh eh?
16:25Yeah absolutely
16:27It was good play down the right hand side
16:29Yet again
16:30Queen's Park have got a lot of bodies in the box
16:31We're playing the three at the back
16:33Ben Somers tries to get the shot away
16:36Yet again you talk about Huth
16:38Ruth sorry
16:39He just bumps into Stephen Welsh
16:40And Stephen
16:41As you say uses the experience
16:42And that's what we're talking about
16:44With one of the younger ones
16:45Maybe I tried to fight it
16:46Yeah
16:47You know and that's where you get the game experience
16:49I'm sure Stephen through that period
16:50He's a young centre back himself
16:54Francis Turley on the ball
16:57The dribble with it
16:58As you can see
17:00Ball breaks to the edge of the area
17:04Person back to
17:05Somers
17:06Goes for the shot
17:07What an effort
17:08Great save from Callum Ferry
17:09No one was heading goalward
17:11Go keeper touches it off the bar
17:13Great shot from Ben Somers though
17:15A brilliant strike
17:16A brilliant strike
17:17And I think
17:18Callum Ferry sees it late
17:19Gets his hand up to it
17:20Touches on to the bar
17:21And it ricocheted
17:23Well enough for Queen's Park obviously
17:25Even good if it came back into play
17:27As Isegu is
17:29Sitting reared right outside the six-yard box
17:35A great driven effort there from Ben Somers
17:38Clearly looking to make an impression
17:43As he did a couple of seasons ago
17:49Cardo loses out
17:50Overcome
17:51Queen's Park
17:53Defending though to win the ball back
17:55Stephen Welsh now with it
17:56Now Turley
17:57Kyle to his left
18:02Summers on the ball
18:05Turley fancies it as well
18:10Try to angle the shot
18:12Well wide of the post
18:15There's the earlier effort from Summers though
18:17I think quite catch that
18:24Such was the speed of the shot
18:26Yeah
18:27It was a terrific save
18:28He just threw up his hand at the last moment
18:31Definitely Summers yeah
18:34Was it Hatton?
18:35I think it was Hatton actually
18:36I think it was Hatton
18:37Hatton yeah
18:38I think it was Hatton
18:40Notice that there on the replay
18:44Thomas Hatton with the shot
18:46With effort from the
18:4819 year old
18:50See he's tried to be positive
18:51Since he came on you know
18:52That's what Tom will be being direct
18:54A couple of times down the side of the pitch
18:55Final ball's not been maybe great
18:57But he's been positive
18:59Play down the left hand side
19:07Kyle inside too
19:09Turley
19:10Switches it across to the right hand side
19:13Ricardo
19:15Stand up!
19:28Turley was a bit disappointed with Hatton
19:30Because he was free and he should have gave him the pass
19:31And he'd done the step over
19:32And tried to beat the defender
19:34And that's what I'll talk about
19:35He's been brilliant
19:36He's taken in 1v1 situations at times
19:38But that was the time to let it off
19:40That was the time to pass
19:42And that's the experience we talk about
19:44You know when to do the dribble
19:46And when to use the ball
20:03Honnelly coming out of defence
20:05James Park on the attack now
20:07You have the ball on the left hand side
20:09Fieldson
20:10First time cross to the edge of the area
20:13To carry up
20:15Roof
20:17Trying to get numbers back
20:23Coming in at the far post so that
20:27Sliding tackle
20:29Had to be a good one
20:32It's a good ball in the box
20:33But he's done his job properly
20:35He's getting at the back post to defend round and get there before the wide player, the opposite wide player
20:38Go away from McPherson
20:44Go away from McPherson
20:45going into the position
20:48Go away from H recuerds
20:49towards the corner here
20:51Back to McPherson
20:52Volume-up loss
20:53Movemanons
20:54João Launde
20:55على a corner to Queen's Park, Louie Longridge to take
20:57To corner to Queen's Park, Louis Longridge to take.
21:05Brakes to Connolly, mishit the shot.
21:11They'll take clear it up to the halfway line.
21:17And Summers as well under some pressure.
21:27Connolly was lucky at the edge of the box because he lost Connolly.
21:35When the ball drops down, he watches the ball, Connolly moves off him and then the opportunity arises for the strike at the goal.
21:41And they're the small details of doing your job properly defensively.
21:46Nothing, making a change between the sticks.
21:48Cross doing, coming off and 21-year-old Josh Clark going on.
21:57He'll throw to Celtic on the far side, still Celtic.
22:07One goal ahead, a first half strike from Johnny Kenny.
22:11Andrew Kyle quickly under pressure there from Fowler.
22:27Celtic lose possession.
22:29Keep the ball!
22:35Again, Buggs again!
22:36Buggs again!
22:37Buggs again!
22:38Buggs again!
22:40Buggs again!
22:41Buggs again!
22:42Buggs again!
22:47Ball fallen, an easy take for Welsh.
22:49Kyle Ewer to Andrew Kyle.
22:52To be fair to you, he's picked up good positions to receive possession off his back guys, he's always found himself free.
23:12Robertson.
23:17Kyle, showing a bit too much of that one.
23:22Win it back with a strong tackle.
23:31Summers, cleared away.
23:37This one got the feel of a Glasgow Cup game about it and Celtic B team will take on Queen's Park in that competition.
23:44Yeah, put against these senior players that play for Queen's Park, obviously they want to do well.
23:51Now they've got, as you say, they're going into competition now.
23:54It's so important for them that they impress the new manager.
23:57He's probably brought most of them in.
23:59So, he wants to start an 11 ready for the new season.
24:03I know the Championship's the most important thing for them, but their friendly games come within the elite competition.
24:09They're fighting for places, so it's a good challenge for these young boys.
24:13So, a triple change for Sean Crichton's side.
24:22Kyle inside.
24:36Kyle inside.
24:37The Summers.
24:38Take it to the byline, onto the left foot, crosses a good one.
24:42It's a Guzzo.
24:43Oh, he's head on it, in a bit of space.
24:45Oh, coming at him at some pace though, couldn't direct the head or goalward.
24:49Yeah, it's a chance.
24:50It's a good ball in, let's talk about the crosses getting in the box.
24:53He stands still, he gets in a good area.
24:56I think he'll be disappointed he's not at the target.
24:58I know there's a lot of pace on the ball, but for a striker, that's what you're liking,
25:02because then you can just direct it whatever direction you want.
25:12This is a big night for these young boys as well, even though it's pre-season.
25:22You know, there's always a nervous energy you've got.
25:25They're playing in front of the manager, maybe the biggest supporter you've played against,
25:29they saw him in front of as well for some of them.
25:35For Robertson.
25:42Summers, over the top from Kyle Ewer.
25:56Space there.
25:58Kyle to run into it.
26:00Find a teammate with the cross.
26:01Now Celtic will put the pressure on the Queen's Park defence,
26:04who'll launch it high into the midfield.
26:07After he judges that to have been an infringement against the Queen's on the Queen's Park player.
26:16Yeah, I think Queen's Park was just disappointed because I think they still had good possession there,
26:20they were on the counter-attack.
26:21I think that's why you can hear the manager now shout at the side of the pitch.
26:24John Crichton there having mods with the officials.
26:31So they just took over the hot seat in May at the end of the season.
26:38Go away!
26:54Give it away.
26:56Now Dziguzo, chance to run at the Queen's Park defence.
27:00looking for support.
27:06The pace of the pass from Isakusu,
27:08which wasn't convincing enough,
27:10and McPherson had to check his stride there.
27:12It's happened a couple of times, you know,
27:14as you see, they're the small details
27:16that you keep working on as a young player.
27:18You're Steven, as you say, Steven McManus
27:20will be looking at it and saying, right, this is what we need to work on
27:22with you in your game.
27:24That's part of your coaching
27:26that you're seeing what these boys can get better at
27:28in important moments. Showing them
27:30on the video to them, seeing this a bit of
27:32sloppiness in a great good area of the pitch where we
27:34could hurt the opposition, especially as a striker
27:36where you're expected to link
27:38or be that main threat in the final third.
27:40Cardle inside to Kyle Yew as
27:42the jersey was being held there.
27:44Certainly had an impact on
27:46his pass.
27:48Yeah, but
27:50listen, in this period in the game
27:52I think he's been the one that's been trying to dominate that middle
27:54of the pitch. I think that's important for him
27:56because as you say, he's maybe a bit more senior
27:58maybe a couple of more games round about
28:00He's only 19, remember?
28:02Yeah, he's only 19, but he's more, exactly.
28:04That's a senior player now, at this level.
28:06I got it wrong saying he was 23.
28:08Louis Longridge has been told by his manager, forget your mistake, it's done.
28:22He's got a bit of experience in the game as Louis Longridge.
28:26Louis is not 23.
28:28No.
28:29No, but he's been a fantastic player, great experience,
28:32but yet again, it just shows he's given the ball away a couple of times there.
28:36That's what happens with senior players.
28:38Lay down the left-hand side.
28:40Kyle combining well with Summers.
28:42Here's Kyle, checks back as the challenge comes in.
28:44Can he pick out a teammate?
28:46Leaves that one back to Francis Turley.
28:48Inside looking for Summers pass, just a little bit awry again.
28:52The Celtic youngsters.
28:54London Rodgers completely changed the outfield set-up at half-time,
29:00so it's essentially a B-team.
29:04Apart from Stephen Welsh.
29:06On the pitch.
29:12The keeper under pressure gives possession back to Celtic with a throw on the far side,
29:16midway inside the Queen's Park half.
29:18Young Kyle's done well again in the final third a few times.
29:22Great runs and getting behind him.
29:24He's been just unfortunate at the final ball.
29:26He's been blocked.
29:28In the last one he was tracked well, but he's done well to get forward
29:30and it's given Celtic an outlet.
29:32Summers.
29:34Lively down this left-hand side.
29:36That one back to Kyle.
29:38Robertson across to Stephen Welsh.
29:42And again trying to dribble his way through it.
29:54On that right-hand side.
29:56I think he just lost his boot as he went by his opponent.
30:02The Celtic quickly taken.
30:08Move breaks down again.
30:20Robertson.
30:22Thising subscribers.
30:28Murs.
30:30Good.
30:31Cough.
30:32First and inside to.
30:37Kyle Ewer.
30:42Back to Welsh.
30:43back to Welsh
30:44defenders stepping up Robertson
30:48to Summers
30:50the angle
30:53for a shot
30:54didn't arrive
30:56he'll get the ball here though
30:58mind Kyle
30:59Kyle
31:07the channel
31:08in for the run up
31:13challenge from behind there
31:14penalised by the referee
31:16not a bad feel there
31:20at that period of the game
31:21there just when the ball
31:22was going to break
31:22with Queen's Park
31:23it was young Kyle
31:24who was caught out of position
31:43Queen's Park
31:51goalkeeper
31:51Callum Ferry
31:52another on by
31:54Fowler
31:55Queen's Park
31:57looking to get back in the game
31:58and make it an exciting finish
32:00goal behind in the first half
32:03that was
32:03completely dominated by
32:05Celtic
32:07he shows you on a small detail
32:10there
32:10look Ferry went long
32:11Robertson as a centre-back
32:12you're expecting to go and win it
32:14because that's part of the game
32:15I know we talk about
32:16passing out and whatever now
32:17but when the ball goes long
32:18can you dominate your centre-back
32:20get caught there
32:21because his distance was too far back
32:23he comes to try and win it
32:24and he gives the ball
32:26what he gives
32:26makes the wrong decision
32:27it's flicked on
32:28and it's an opportunity
32:29so as a centre-back
32:31that's something that
32:31Steve McManus will be talking to him
32:33about
32:33Steve and playing that position
32:34so these are the things
32:36that these guys will be learning
32:36for these games
32:37well done Eaghan
32:40well done Eaghan
32:42Celtic's throw
32:45they're taken by
32:46Cayo
32:46oh
32:46the
32:47throw-in
32:48has been overruled
32:50it will be a
32:51Queen's Park throw
32:52well Brendan Rodgers
32:56deciding to make the change
32:57and
32:57well this young
33:00man coming on

33:06professional contract
33:07at Celtic
33:09last week
33:10he is
33:12not long
33:13having turned
33:1416 years old
33:16a short time ago
33:18he was playing for the
33:18under-16s at Celtic
33:20Connor Daly
33:21remember that name
33:23this is the first time
33:24you've seen him
33:24on the pitch
33:26for the senior team
33:27for the senior team
33:28he's making a change
33:30as well
33:30but for Celtic
33:31for a
33:32a moment
33:32for a young man
33:35a boy
33:3616 years of age
33:37making his debut
33:38fabulous
33:38you know
33:39just a
33:40magnificent couple of weeks
33:41for him
33:41wish him nothing but success
33:44this is the
33:45first running
33:46running at the ladder
33:47as you say
33:48he's in the middle
33:55of the park
33:56as you can see
33:56there
33:57the
33:57mistakable
33:58red hair
34:00oh there's a
34:00beyond Connor Daly
34:01fantastic red-headed
34:03boys played
34:03in the new lens
34:04in the great
34:05Tommy Burns
34:05well nearly
34:08a few different
34:09hairstyles
34:09I should say
34:10shouldn't be saying
34:12too much
34:13about that
34:13I'll assume
34:13yes you were
34:16prone to a
34:17hairstyle yourself
34:17Mr Grant
34:18a mullet or two
34:20yep
34:21you were actually
34:25extremely fashionable
34:26nowadays
34:27because it's coming
34:28back into fashion
34:29now isn't it
34:29the old mullet
34:30well you know
34:31poor my time
34:32you were ahead
34:33of your time
34:34clearly
34:34Greenspark
34:43on the attack
34:44but
34:44her move
34:45breaks down
34:46in the middle
34:48of the park
34:48nearly his first
34:50touch
34:50a great one
34:51actually
34:51chance for Celtic
34:53now
34:53on the right-hand
34:54side
34:55chance out of
35:02nothing there
35:02really
35:03he does
35:03brilliant
35:04and he's got
35:04to finish
35:05he steps
35:05by a defender
35:06it's terrific
35:07to take it
35:08by him
35:08you expect
35:09the ball
35:09to be in the
35:10next one
35:10in the back
35:10of the lane
35:11move started
35:14by the young
35:1416 year old
35:15Robertson
35:27to Ben
35:29Summers
35:30this young Celtic
35:41is not giving
35:56Queen's Park
35:57and Queen's Park
35:57an inch
35:57in possession
35:58in possession
35:58Zeguzo's
36:02a couple of
36:03chances
36:04it's brilliant
36:07with his first
36:07touch
36:08to be fair
36:10Ferry reads it
36:11well
36:11great chance
36:14though
36:14best chance
36:15of the second
36:16half for Celtic
36:16that's the difference
36:18that's the difference
36:18you get to the levels
36:19when you've got to
36:20take the chances
36:21that's
36:21talking about the
36:23learning experience
36:24you maybe only get
36:25one opportunity
36:25it'll be a big European
36:27night
36:27whatever
36:28cup finals
36:29when you get that chance
36:30you've got to be wanting to take it
36:31that's what separates the Celtic
36:34strikers
36:34and always has done
36:35even Welsh
36:44Celtic captain
36:46which is that one out
36:49Kyle Ewer
36:51space here
36:52claiming for offside
36:53it's given
36:54confident claim
36:57from the
36:57Beans Park
36:58defence
36:59no VAR
37:00in these pre-season
37:01friendlies
37:02Peter
37:02that means the lines
37:03when the referee
37:04can get away with it
37:04we'll soon have that
37:07back to waste
37:07again
37:08don't worry
37:08not a fan
37:11not at all
37:12full line technology
37:14I understand
37:14yes
37:14the rest of it
37:15rubbish
37:16because I can't
37:19still believe
37:19we're still doing
37:20that one
37:20playing on
37:20playing on
37:21when it's offside
37:21I just can't
37:22understand that
37:23see what happened to Schmeichel
37:25it was very similar
37:26in his international game
37:27played on
37:28he ends up getting an injury
37:30through it
37:30eyeballing to the heart
37:33of the Celtic defence
37:34well taken down by Welsh
37:35back to his goalkeeper
37:36Josh Clarke
37:37all out
37:40is cut out by Tyrese McDonnell
37:42from Queen's Park
37:43as well
37:45in possession
37:49oh
37:49feels him taken out
37:50rather
37:51cynically there
37:52by the young 16-year-old
37:54perhaps showing a little bit
37:56of inexperience
37:57understandably there
37:58Connor Daly
37:59Carlo
38:00Carlo
38:01you've been a deep
38:02come on
38:03Eden McGinley
38:04Eden
38:04Eden McGinley
38:05Eden
38:07Eden
38:09Eden
38:11Carlo
38:11that's for all
38:12defence
38:12to set up
38:13now
38:13yeah
38:13so
38:19chance from the
38:20set piece
38:21as
38:22Josh Clarke
38:22lines up
38:24a three-man wall
38:26almost right on the corner
38:30of the 18-yard box
38:31Fox with a left foot
38:36on the downward
38:37header there
38:38into the ground
38:39and up by
38:40the Fox
38:42easy take
38:43Josh Clarke
38:44in the Celtic goal
38:45yeah they were fortunate actually
38:47because they'd overloaded
38:48at the back post
38:49and they were working on
38:49Fox getting clear
38:50and they actually got him clear
38:52but the pace wasn't on the ball
38:54Robertson under pressure there
39:03and the Queen's Park press
39:04just plays that one
39:05out of
39:07Dutch
39:08on the right-hand side
39:09it will be a Queen's Park corner now
39:12as the darkness descends
39:13on the
39:14south side of Glasgow
39:15young viewers move to left
39:19back position
39:20so it obviously shows
39:20he can play different positions
39:22Brendan's moved him to the left
39:23back position
39:24Sean Coyle's going to off
39:26so Louis Longridge
39:43they call him up
39:46confident catch there from
39:49it was Clarke
39:51that fight
39:56it was eBay
40:01yeah
40:02Sean
40:02deeper
40:02du need
40:03wait till we can go
40:05wait till we can go
40:07nearly
40:08he
40:09no
40:19No, he didn't, no, he didn't, not enough!
40:25A pass inside there front, and Sommers looking for the runner, Francis Turley.
40:41This right hand side, Arlo Gnatiello.
40:45This again.
40:50Space inside, just a cut out there by Sean McAldo, but Gnatiello still has it.
40:55This ball into a dangerous position, but no one that far forward in the black of Queen's Park.
41:00It's a good ball in.
41:15Gnatiello coming forward again, down the left hand side.
41:27Upside.
41:30Good organisation in Celtic defence.
41:35Yeah, these things are so important for them.
41:37You know, these young boys are playing against a different system.
41:40I'm not sure if they'll play against it many times at the B level.
41:44Many teams play with a back three.
41:46But because they're under pressure all the time, they have to use the ball quickly.
41:49And that makes the difference for them, especially as a defender when you're under so much pressure.
41:54And especially as a young player, making probably, not many games in the first team, but playing as a first team player tonight.
42:00Seven and a half minutes or so left in this game.
42:09It's Park-nil.
42:11Self-take one.
42:19Nice ball through the middle.
42:21Too close to Colin Ferry, an easy take in the end for him.
42:25You don't mind that.
42:26I mean, he's got to go for that pass and I think he's very unfortunate.
42:29The thing that's brilliant about it, he's seen the pass.
42:36It's Park trying to impose themselves as the minutes run out.
42:42He's still very much alive.
42:43It's just a slender one goal lead for Celtic.
42:56Goal!
42:57Goal!
42:58Goal!
42:59Goal!
43:00There you come Henry!
43:01Goal!
43:02Goal!
43:03Goal!
43:04Goal!
43:05Goal!
43:06Goal!
43:07Goal!
43:08to pick out one or two of these kind of second half e-team players or special praise Peter is there
43:14any one or two? I think you were in the middle of the pitch and was always available for the ball and
43:18that's his role within the team you know I mean Stephen Welsh we know what Stephen can do with
43:22his leadership qualities I think that's important as well for the younger ones coming in because they
43:26don't have that I think Ben Summers has been positive you know and you look at it and you
43:31think to yourself well Hatton had a goal in fact he'd take on the fullback doing all these things
43:38are important and you've got young Daly coming on at 16 picking up good areas to receive possession
43:42of the ball just simple things and I think that's what it means do the simple things well I think
43:48that's always important as a young player because then the more confident you get the better you
43:52become at it then you do it more consistent then it's saying well can you do it sharper can you do
43:58the simple things quicker as I said earlier in the game that the difference playing at pace
44:05and playing under pressure and it's consistency at that level it's about learning not to make mistakes
44:09because the higher the level the more your mistakes are punished absolutely and as I'm talking about
44:14the pace of the opposition are putting you under pressure so you're getting less time to think
44:17do you need to know where you're going with your pass it's so important whether you're a defender
44:21midfielder then the attacker where's his first touch you talk about chance the striker gets
44:27you've got to bury that because that's the one chance you may get in a game they're the small
44:32details that you all have to improve on well and Celtic hang on or add to their lead in the closing
44:39stages of their first pre-season game of season 20 25 26 there's me I can't believe we're that far on
44:48that's what I've said there but playing the two passes short then the opportunity was to go wide
45:18the first one they sucked them in they played the next one they sucked them in now you've got to go
45:22wide but they went for another short pass in there that's what I'm talking about that experience
45:26gives them they're getting you play the more games that you play
45:33giving that time against Kyle Hewitt
45:36someone's in there trying to win it back for Celtic
46:00as well again he's fought for everything the second half is Ben Sommers
46:09fortunately couldn't keep the ball in play that time
46:12yeah listen it's all about getting your fitness even for the younger boys it's about getting their
46:16fitness as well you know your touch may be off whatever but that'll not be concerning Brendan he
46:20knows he'll get better at that important thing is the small details that's closing the ball down
46:25can they win the ball back quickly get that fitness levels up
46:39bounce beat the defender there
46:44it's all through the middle it's a guzzo
46:53it's all through the middle it's a good day
46:59Welsh
47:00Nelson
47:09down the back
47:11well done
47:13come on
47:17Follow up!
47:20Come on, Wade!
47:21Go, keep going!
47:22Come on, Wade!
47:24Play off there from Izaguuzo to...
47:26...on Odeli as well, finds Ewer.
47:28Oh my, Maz! Maz!
47:30Space, Hurley just...
47:33...man into Longridge.
47:36Even, what I say!
47:38I don't say!
47:40Go, go, go!
47:43Go, go!
47:44Keep the ball, get out!
47:47Go, go, go!
47:50Well done!
47:53Oh, Charlie!
47:56They're not happy there. Oh, Charlie, he said.
47:59A ball into it. No man's land, really.
48:01But please believe me, during the season they were shouting,
48:03Good ball, Charlie. That's a guarantee.
48:05Because they're not playing against Celtic.
48:07They wouldn't be playing as deep.
48:08The strikers wouldn't be playing as deep as that.
48:10When you're playing with two strikers up the pitch,
48:12that's the ball they will be looking for.
48:14But to be fair to them, he's coached their team to play
48:16against Celtic, and I think that's important.
48:18He's coaching your team to play your opposition.
48:20And when he goes into his own league set-up,
48:22I'm sure his strikers will not be as deep as this.
48:24Tie!
48:26Well, they've been playing the Celtic B team in the second half,
48:29and young Celtic players have held their own very well.
48:33Very well.
48:36They will come up against this season in the Glasgow Cup.
48:43Listen, you've got to remember, Queen's Park have been full-time,
48:45they've been probably back training for a few weeks now.
48:47They have.
48:49Just saying, next week they're down to their games already starting.
48:57Closing stages of this match.
49:03Queen's Park searching for a late equaliser.
49:05Yeah, Tiello.
49:07All the way through to Josh Clarke.
49:11I don't believe Renan, obviously with Stephen Welsh,
49:15take Stephen Welsh out.
49:17Defensively, they've not really created much.
49:19Queen's Park.
49:21Final whistle goes.
49:24These young Celtic players that came on at half-time
49:28have acquitted themselves very well.
49:30Special mention to young Connor Bailey who came on,
49:3216-year-old, didn't really put a foot wrong.
49:34So a great start to his young Celtic career.
49:38As far as goals goes,
49:39it was Johnny Kenny's first-half strike that put Celtic ahead.
49:43Chances in the second half for that man there,
49:45Sami Iseguzo, could have put Celtic out of sight,
49:49but he couldn't find the back of the net.
49:51Thankfully, neither could Queen's Park.
49:54So Celtic get their pre-season off to a winning start.
49:59Next up, it's a trip to Ireland to face Cork City in the Cork Super Cup.
50:03That one is a 6.30 local time kick-off on Tuesday,
50:07but all in all, a good workout for the boys.
50:10Absolutely.
50:11Biggest thing is probably get through.
50:12It doesn't look as if it had any injuries.
50:14That's so important at this time of the season.
50:16You want everybody to get through,
50:17get a game in their legs,
50:1945 minutes in their legs for the senior players as well.
50:22The younger ones,
50:23it gives them an opportunity they can't handle,
50:25even within the dressing room,
50:26never mind on the pitch.
50:27The more senior players like Callum McGregor,
50:29the Engels,
50:30even though he's a young man,
50:31the McCowns.
50:32Seeing how they give out their pre-match,
50:35everything like this is so important for them.
50:37But the big thing for Brendan is,
50:39the game's minutes in their legs,
50:40and the fact that they have no injuries.
50:44Absolutely.
50:45On a day where we said farewell to
50:50Lisbon Lion legend John Clarke.
50:54Celtic as a club move on.
50:56We saw a taste of the next generation here tonight at the City Stadium.
51:00It finishes here in the shadows of Hampden Park,
51:05Celtic's first pre-season test.
51:08Beans Park 0,
51:10Celtic 1.
51:12fun.
