02:53Tonight, normally we don't put up two episodes in this close together,
02:56but a lot of things going on in the world of professional wrestling!
02:59We're going to go through all of them!
03:00We'll start with NXT reactions, results, and conversation!
03:04Tonight's show, action-packed, start to finish!
03:06I love a lot of what we're seeing!
03:08We kick off the show with the TNA Championship match between Trick Williams and Josh Briggs!
03:14Gotta be honest, I would really have loved for this match to take place between Trick Williams
03:17and a more established TNA star getting the rub from the NXT locker room!
03:21But whatever, we get Josh Briggs out there, get him a championship opportunity!
03:26It is a great match for what it is!
03:28Obviously, you don't expect a championship change here!
03:30Trick Williams wins!
03:31But what is interesting to me is the after-match antics!
03:34The TNA Championship, formerly around the waist of Joe Hendry,
03:39and apparently he wants it once again as he attacks Trick Williams,
03:43knocking him out of the ring after the match!
03:45It is a beautiful thing to see Joe Hendry on TNA television, or I apologize, on NXT television,
03:50and you gotta wonder if this is a sign of things to come!
03:53We go into our next match, Javon Evans vs. Tavion Heights.
03:57The big thing here, if Tavion wins, he can leave no-quarter-catch crew.
04:02Unfortunately, tonight, Javon Evans plays spoiler.
04:05That is not gonna happen, and he is going to be stuck in his current role with no-quarter-catch crew.
04:11After the match, Jasper Troy comes out of nowhere, the winner of Season 1 of LFG.
04:17He comes out and hits a black hole slam on Javon Evans.
04:21He is clearly trying to establish himself on the NXT roster.
04:25I love what they're doing with him.
04:26I think he's adapted very well in such a short period of time.
04:29He's got a lot of things coming in his future, and a lot of them are gonna happen a lot sooner than later.
04:34Ricky Saints came into action next.
04:36Look, I can always watch Ricky Saints do anything going against Ashanti the Adonis.
04:41You don't really expect this to go any other way.
04:43Ricky Saints picks up a win.
04:45Solid match for a television show match.
04:48It's really like a filler thing.
04:50It's really to get to the after match.
04:52Again, Ethan Page appearing on the TitanTron.
04:54The video that he has, a video promo recorded.
04:57It freezes, and out of nowhere, Page attacks Saints.
05:01Great setup, great delivery.
05:03Very good element to the show.
05:05Obafemi came out next.
05:07He had a conversation about needing challengers for the NXT Championship.
05:11He has been struggling to find anybody who could really give him a challenge.
05:14And Yoshiki Inomura, his music hits.
05:17He comes out.
05:18He came to NXT, in his words, to chase glory.
05:21He went home to Japan.
05:23Realized he missed Josh Briggs, but he also missed NXT.
05:26And he loves NXT.
05:28He loves the culture, the passion of the fans.
05:30And he wants to become NXT champion.
05:32Femi is very happy to let him come in and have this challenge.
05:37He's going to accept that challenge.
05:38He's going to put him down also.
05:40And as Inomura is leaving the ring, Jasper Troy attacks again.
05:44And this time, staring down Obafemi.
05:47Clearly making it obvious to everybody that he wants another match with Oba
05:52before things are said and done.
05:54D'Angelo family has their Civil War throwdown.
05:57The next matchup is for the NXT Heritage Cup.
06:00We found out earlier this week that that was now vacated because of Noam Dar having an injury.
06:06This is between Stax and Tony D'Angelo.
06:09And I'll be honest with you, if D'Angelo would have won this, I'd have been shocked.
06:12At the end, it turns out that we are going to see the winner and new Heritage Cup champion, Stax Lorenzo.
06:18Channing Stax Lorenzo winning the Heritage Cup.
06:21Something I think does much more for his character development, his future in NXT.
06:28There was conversation about Tony D'Angelo being brought to the main roster earlier this year.
06:33I really think this is the way to kind of push him out of the way.
06:37Let him go off and do some other things.
06:39We may be seeing him maybe after SummerSlam get called up to the main roster.
06:43We'll have to see how that plays out.
06:45And the big main event, the Evolution Eliminator.
06:49We got to see a Fatal 4-Way Lash Legend, Jada Parker, Izzy Dame with Tatum Paxley, who she recruited earlier in the evening.
06:55And Jordan Grace.
06:57And look, we can go through everything about this at the end of the night.
07:00All that matters is that Jordan Grace wins the Eliminator and will be the one to challenge for the NXT Women's Championship at Evolution 2.
07:11One of the first matches we're going to see that are going to be reported for that show.
07:15It is shaping up.
07:16Look, you can fantasy book all you want.
07:18There's a lot going on.
07:19I think the show is going to be fantastic.
07:21Moving on.
07:22Lots of tidbits today.
07:24It's not as many main stories.
07:26Lots of tidbits.
07:27Like WWE producer, former TNA star Abyss was interviewed recently this week by Fightful Select talking about whether or not he'd be open to an in-ring return.
07:36He said, never say never, but I don't see it in the cards and I don't want it in the cards.
07:40I'm so happy with what I'm doing as a producer.
07:43He is 51 years old.
07:45He did mention he wouldn't mind being on television as Joseph Park, his alter ego from TNA Wrestling.
07:49He's shown up once before on WWE programming, but obviously not looking to go into the ring and have an extension to his career.
07:58He's done.
07:59He's wrapped up.
08:00His career is essentially over.
08:01Kota Ibushi is in the news this week because he came out on the collision.
08:05He got in the face of Kazuchika Okada, the two exchange blows.
08:08He's having his return match for Dynamite against Trent Beretta.
08:12I think this is a solid match for him coming back.
08:15The concern I have is, is where do we slate him in the hierarchy of talent in AEW when you have such a top heavy roster?
08:23And is he going to be able to stay healthy?
08:25He has been injured on and off constantly since 2023.
08:29Um, we're hoping that he's in a better place.
08:32Uh, the word coming out was the golden star say Ibushi is currently in a much better place physically than he has been in quite a long time.
08:38Um, hopefully he can still go in the ring.
08:40A lot of people think that his best days are behind him, but I'm pulling for great things for him.
08:46Cannot do this episode without giving you an update on night of champions.
08:50And as of right now, Dave Meltzer, Brian Alvarez, both reported the same thing that, uh, many outlets are reporting that everybody is essentially planning to head to Saudi Wednesday for the big show, the night of champions, pay-per-view king and queen of the ring tournaments.
09:07And, uh, it should be a go, or at least at this point, unless something drastic were to change.
09:12We saw that there was a ceasefire between, uh, Israel and Iran today.
09:17Um, hopefully that keeps everything on schedule.
09:20So as of right now, things are a full go.
09:23Uh, Cody Rhodes hit the news today.
09:25He has a quote.
09:26If it were up to the rock, I'd be a heel right now.
09:29Kind of confirming what we all had heard earlier in the year that that was something the rock was pushing for.
09:35Cody was not necessarily in favor of it.
09:37Clearly triple H was not either.
09:39You're talking about a guy who moves a ton of merchandise.
09:41Why would you want to turn him heel right now?
09:43And it looks like Cody got his way and did not make that happen.
09:46But it is interesting to see that he basically confirmed what a lot of people had thought.
09:50That, uh, the rock got his hands in there and tried to get his mitts on the booking.
09:54There's another report out today that Chad Gable is legitimately injured.
09:58Uh, it was explained with the, uh, Monday night raw angle where he was attacked by Penta.
10:02But this is just basically being used to cover for an undisclosed injury that he has.
10:07Uh, it's been reported by body slam.net.
10:09That is a legitimate injury.
10:11Um, so hopefully he gets back soon.
10:13Cause that puts him on the shelf as well as, uh, El Grande Americano.
10:17I don't care what they say.
10:18It's him.
10:19Um, so that's, that's somewhat concerning if he doesn't get back soon enough.
10:22Cause we're right in the hot and thick of it, man.
10:24WWE has got so many shows planned in the next couple of weeks.
10:26He needs to get out there as soon as possible.
10:28The raw viewership report came in and this is what's concerning to me.
10:32And this is going to be one of our headlines for this episode.
10:34Uh, raw drew 2.7 million viewers.
10:38Um, that's down from the 2.9 from June 9th.
10:41Um, it's one of the lower ratings of the year.
10:44Um, the hours viewed are down.
10:47Uh, one of the lowest, um, views since WrestleMania 41 down from, uh, from 6.1 million hours to 5 million hours.
10:55Um, which June 16th draw was the second lowest, uh, hours viewed, um, with the May 19th and, and June, uh, second episodes of all time.
11:05And it doesn't really change a whole lot when you go global.
11:08Um, raw, this is one of the few weeks that they've dipped below, um, the top eight.
11:14They were in ninth place down two spots from, from June 9th.
11:17Um, so it definitely not a great thing.
11:20Domestically raw placed fourth falling one spot, but still staying consistent.
11:24Raw's usual spot in the U S rankings.
11:27But if you're WWE and you're, you're hyping the return of Goldberg and building punk Cena and you have Cody and Jay on free TV,
11:34you would really have hoped to get a much bigger pop in the ratings and to not have that somewhat concerning.
11:41Um, and a couple other tidbits just to throw out there.
11:44UFC star, Michael Chandler is hoping to sign with WWE.
11:47He's made it clear to triple eight that he's interested, that there is a possibility.
11:51Um, he was on the February 19th, 2024 episode of raw calling out Conor McGregor from the crowd.
11:56Um, he certainly, he was saying he was talking to triple H about, uh, uh, uh, WWE contract and trying to make it happen.
12:04Uh, who knows if that's actually going to come to fruition, but you had to know at some point there was going to be a UFC WWE crossover.
12:11And why not start here?
12:13And for me, the shocking news of the day, not so shocking, but so exciting for someone like me, who's a huge fan of new Japan pro wrestling and specific stars, uh, that are no longer with the promotion.
12:24The promotion being Bushi and Tetsuya Naito, both waiting on paperwork for international visas to come overseas and take on their next, their next, uh, journey in the world of professional wrestling, both leaving new Japan pro wrestling.
12:40And it sounds like they are open to coming to the United States.
12:44Uh, Naito was a little upset because there was a, there's a report that he is not going to be a label to bring his entrance music with him after leaving new Japan.
12:52Uh, which is, you know, it's, it's, it's frustrating for him because he helped collaborate to make the music and had a big influence on that.
12:59But it is still for me, incredibly exciting to know that Naito and, and, um, is looking to come to the States and, and really have an opportunity to showcase.
13:09Uh, I would imagine in either AEW, maybe he's ring of honor, maybe he does some, uh, some, uh, impact stuff.
13:15I don't know if at this stage of his career with some of his lingering issues with injuries and things like that, if WWE is going to be interested.
13:22But one could only hope, cause I'd love to see some of those matches.
13:25Naito and Seth Rollins.
13:27Um, you know, actually Naito could slate it with almost anyway.
13:30Naito and Cody Rhodes, Naito and, and Randy Orton.
13:33There's so many matches you could do.
13:35Um, I would love to see any of them.
