02:53I don't know the last time that we had so much conversation about AAA, but tonight is the big night.
02:59AAA, TripleMania 33.
03:01Their version, I would say, of WrestleMania.
03:04I don't know that we have the level of importance on the card that we would have at a WrestleMania.
03:10There are several matches.
03:12Six matches have been announced for the card so far.
03:14That doesn't mean other things can't be added, but at least in the short term, there are only six matches announced.
03:19The show kicks off at 9 o'clock tonight.
03:21I hope everybody gets a chance to check it out since it is totally free on their YouTube channel.
03:26Check it out, Lucha Libre AAA on YouTube.
03:28I have an alert set for myself so I can see the show tonight.
03:31I hope you get an opportunity.
03:32It should be a good show.
03:34To this episode, we're going to run down every match on the card.
03:37We're going to talk about our reactions to SmackDown.
03:39We're going to get into the results from TNA Rebellion that took place a little earlier this evening and go from there.
03:44So let's jump right into the conversation about TripleMania since that is the most pressing issue.
03:50First off, one of the things I don't understand completely is the Berdahl Cup, which is a timed entry, multiple elimination style match.
03:58They have announced absolutely nobody in terms of who the participants are going to be.
04:02In this match.
04:04So the Berdahl Cup, who knows who's going to be in it.
04:06I suspect WWE is going to put some main roster stars into that match as well as many of the AAA talents that are not already booked for the main show.
04:16Who that's going to be?
04:17Who knows?
04:17It could literally be anybody.
04:19When you go down their roster.
04:22And the other thing is, a lot of the guys in the main show could also show up in that match.
04:25I don't know if there's some kind of reward for winning that.
04:28Maybe you get a championship opportunity at some point.
04:30Something like that.
04:31I don't know.
04:31I don't know enough about AAA.
04:33I'll concede the point.
04:33But at the same time, any time you have one of these multiple entry, multiple elimination style matches, they do them in AEW.
04:41Essentially, the Royal Rumble is similar to that in WWE.
04:44Those are always a lot of fun.
04:45I hope they load that up, give a ton of talent, since there are only five other matches on the card.
04:50I don't know if that's WWE's influence, trying to keep the card shorter or whatnot.
04:53But with the show starting at 9 o'clock, I guess they want to get them in and out in about two hours.
04:57So that makes a lot of sense.
04:59So no idea who's going to win that.
05:00Can't even make a prediction about it.
05:02If I had to pick somebody, I would look at their roster and say, who do they have that is not on the show?
05:07I don't really know.
05:09Pretty much most of their mainstays, unless they were to surprise everybody and bring Alberto El Patron back,
05:15I can't really see anybody here that's missing who's a glaring omission from the roster.
05:20So we'll have to wait and see what goes on with that.
05:22No idea who's going to be in that match.
05:23The first match I want to talk about, the Reign of the Reign of the Championship.
05:26Basically, the Women's Championship for AAA.
05:29Flamere, Fabi Apache, Natalya.
05:32If you look at the different websites online, pretty much everybody is predicting that Natalya is going to walk out with the championship.
05:38Now, look, I would love to see Natalya get some kind of special opportunity, walk away with a championship she's never held.
05:45Something outside of WWE.
05:47That would be wonderful.
05:48A lot like when she was going to the NWA during the Crockett Cup.
05:51That would be wonderful.
05:53But the reality is, they didn't give her that championship.
05:57I don't know that they're going to give her this one unless WWE is really trying to go over the top with putting their own talents over in AAA,
06:05which then is going to do exactly what everybody was afraid of.
06:07Too much WWE influence in AAA, and that would be a problem.
06:11So I don't like that idea.
06:13However, what I do like is if she does not win, it really puts a AAA talent into great prime position to later on come to WWE and contribute in a bigger way.
06:27I think the champion Flamere should retain the championship here.
06:30If I was booking this, I would have her retain.
06:32But if you look at all the sites, everybody is predicting Natalya walks out with this.
06:36Look, there's a lot of experts out there.
06:38I'm going with them, even though I don't think it's the right move.
06:41I'm going with Natalya walking out as the new Rina Derenas champion.
06:45The next match for the AAA Latin American Championship, El Macias is taking on El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr.
06:53I think El Macias retains here for one simple reason.
06:56He just eliminated Alberto El Patron from the promotion.
06:59He just did that match where he basically forced him out.
07:03I think that is all that you need to justify why El Macias should go over here.
07:07El Macias is somebody who I always thought should have come to WWE.
07:10Would have had great feuds with people like Kane and stuff like that.
07:13Went to TNA and had great stuff with Abyss.
07:15I really would have loved to have seen him in a WWE ring.
07:17At this point, a lot older, later in his career.
07:20I don't know that we'll ever see that.
07:21But I do think that with the win over Patron recently, that that will get him the win here.
07:26Los Garza is defending the AAA World Tag Team Championship against Pagano and Psycho Clown.
07:31I see all the sites predicting that Garza is retained.
07:34I am going against the grain here.
07:35Pagano and Psycho Clown are perfect to take those belts away from them.
07:39I think right here we see a championship chain, AAA World Tag Team Championship going to Pagano and Psycho Clown.
07:45If you've never seen them work, check out some more content on the AAA website.
07:50They're a phenomenal team.
07:52Great talents.
07:52And I'm always blown away by how they perform in the types of masks that these great luchadors are using these days.
07:58That are far and above better than anything they've seen before.
08:00In a mixed trios match, Judgment Day, Finn Balor, JD McDonough, and Raquel Rodriguez with Roxanne Perez at ringside are going to take on Mr. Iguana, Nino Hamburguesa, and Lola Weiss.
08:11Look, I would love to say that Mr. Iguana is going to pick up the win here with his team.
08:16I don't think it's going to happen, which I think is a bad idea.
08:18If you really want to push Mr. Iguana, he is so over when he shows up on the main roster, you should do that.
08:23But nobody's beating the Judgment Day, certainly not when it's 4-on-3.
08:26And in this situation, Judgment Day takes the win here, and that leads us into the main event.
08:32El Jijo de Viquingo defending the AAA Mega Championship against Dominic Mysterio, Dragon Lee, and El Grande Americano.
08:38I hate the match.
08:40Three WWE main roster stars versus a AAA star.
08:44Anybody but El Jijo de Viquingo winning is an insult to AAA, in my opinion.
08:50Unless Dominic Mysterio would have lost the Intercontinental Championship at SummerSlam,
08:53then it would have made a lot of sense because you could have put the Mega Championship on him,
08:57built that championship up on main roster WWE television, and used him to help get over both promotions.
09:03Instead, he retained the Intercontinental Championship there, so that's why I have trouble here.
09:07Are you going to have Viquingo defeat the Intercontinental Champion?
09:10Wouldn't that make him next in line for an Intercontinental Championship match?
09:15I don't see WWE doing that.
09:17If you have him defeat Viquingo, doesn't that mean Viquingo should come to WWE and get a rematch?
09:22Maybe that's what they're shooting for.
09:23I don't see any chance for Dragon Lee or El Grande Americano to win this.
09:26They're in there just as filler.
09:28So it really comes down to Viquingo and Mysterio.
09:30Everybody predicting Mysterio.
09:3155% saying Mysterio.
09:33I don't want to see that.
09:34I want to see Viquingo win.
09:35If I'm booking this, Viquingo wins.
09:38But I am not going to go against the grain here.
09:39I think this one, everybody's got the same opinion I do.
09:42It makes Dom look amazing, and they're really building him, and he's doing great work right now.
09:45Dominic Mysterio takes the AAA Mega Championship tonight at TripleMania 33.
09:50Check it out.
09:51Like I said, 9 o'clock tonight on their YouTube channel, Lucha Libre AAA.
09:54I will be tuned in.
09:56You should be, too.
09:56Let's get into SmackDown last night.
09:58I'm going to be honest with you.
10:00Colossally let down.
10:01I did not have a good time with SmackDown last night.
10:03There was too much.
10:04Look, okay, let's break down this way.
10:06Let's go chronologically.
10:07Opening the show with the MFT and Sami Zayn coming out, not a great sell for me because, look, I love Sami Zayn is officially on SmackDown.
10:16That makes a lot of sense, especially since LA Knight is clearly now on Raw.
10:20It's almost like they made a trade, but they didn't announce it that way.
10:22If these roster divisions are supposed to be important, then they should have done that.
10:25I do love Sami following up trying to chase the United States Championship.
10:29I hope he wins that at some point and loses it relatively quickly so he can win a World Championship at Mania, which I think is something they should do.
10:35But in the meantime, I didn't love the fact that he got in the ring one-on-one with Solo and then set himself up to be jumped by the other guys, obviously leading to the other two coming out, Jimmy Uso and Jacob Fatu.
10:47I thought that was, it's way too predictable.
10:49We need something less predictable than that.
10:51And we have no idea where Tamatanga is.
10:53At some point, he's got to come back too, which is going to totally throw things out of whack.
10:56And again, I'm okay with the angle of Sami, but I'm not okay with the way they did this.
11:03It makes Sami look foolish running into the ring and having this whole throwdown four-on-one.
11:08It's absolutely ridiculous.
11:09The Alexa Bliss, Charlotte Flair, Piper Niven, Chelsea Green, Alba, Fire Hall, all that nonsense.
11:13Look, I have no problem with Alexa Bliss picking up a win.
11:16I think nobody would be surprised that she does that in this match.
11:19The issue I have is, you know, you're kind of squashing Piper Niven, who's worth much more than what she's being put on television to mean.
11:26Chelsea Green and Alba, Fire, also premium talents.
11:29They are not right now put in a position where there are legitimate threats to Alexa Bliss and Charlotte Flair.
11:34So this is filler.
11:35I get it.
11:36You have to do something like that between pay PLEs.
11:39But we do have a Paris show coming up.
11:41Are we going to do a tag team championship match there where everybody already knows now they have no chance of winning?
11:46I think that's kind of a shame for their skill levels.
11:49But whatever, Alexa Bliss wins.
11:51There's still some follow-up at the end.
11:54I guess that's to make her Secret Service, Hervis, go over in some way, shape, or form.
12:02I don't love it.
12:04I don't love what they're doing.
12:05And you want to talk about what I really don't like, Carmelo Hayes and The Miz taking down Fraxium.
12:10What an incredible fall from grace.
12:12Fraxium, the longest NXT tag team champions in XYZ amount of time.
12:17They came in so hot.
12:18Looked like they were going to win championships right away.
12:20They haven't done that.
12:21And now it's like they're just stuck in this meddling tag team division, which, look, I get it.
12:26It's a better tag team division than Raw has.
12:28But now you've injected Hayes and The Miz in the middle of it, adding yet another team to muddy the waters in that tag team division and pushing Fraxium down.
12:37Why did you bring them up to the roster if you weren't going to do something more substantial with them?
12:40They're just another team.
12:42At this point, they could be beaten by anybody.
12:44It doesn't make a lot of sense if they're going to lose to Carmelo and The Miz.
12:47The Miz coming back in, what, his second match back?
12:49Kind of ridiculous, if you ask me.
12:51Unless you've got some huge plans for The Miz and Carmelo.
12:53Miz was mentioning about having 10 tag team championships.
12:56Maybe you're going to give them 11.
12:57Have them do it with Carmelo to give Carmelo something to do until you make him a legitimate single star.
13:02They have the conversation with Drew McIntyre.
13:04It's fine.
13:05It builds the feud with Cody.
13:06But we needed to see Cody on the show.
13:09They act like every time somebody gets jumped, they're just gone for weeks.
13:12If that's the case, Cody couldn't be world champion.
13:15He's got to be tougher than that.
13:16He took one Claymore.
13:18If we were at a pay-per-view match, he would take about six of them and still would kick out.
13:21So how does one Claymore take him out where he's not on the show the following week?
13:25To me, that's absolutely ridiculous.
13:28Cody should have been on the show, build the feud, really get people talking, and that didn't happen.
13:33A little bit frustrating.
13:34No John Cena, no Brock Lesnar, no Cody Rhodes.
13:37This show needed more star power.
13:39You have the Street Profits and DIY.
13:41Again, we've been seeing this for so many months.
13:43I only want to count them going all the way back to January, February we've had this going on.
13:48And it's at the point of nauseam at this point.
13:50I don't want to see it anymore.
13:51I'm over those guys.
13:52Street Profits win, whatever.
13:54I'll take it.
13:55I would have rather the MFT come out and attack both teams since they want the Tag Team Championship so bad.
14:01Then we get into the main event.
14:02Sami Zayn, Jimmy Uso, Jacob Fatu versus the MFTs with Tala Tonga.
14:06I don't think anybody was surprised.
14:07I don't think it mattered who won this match.
14:09There's no championship on the line.
14:11And both of these teams can be beaten, pinned in multiple ways.
14:13The only person I don't want to see take a fall is Tala Tonga or Jacob Fatu.
14:17If Tala Tonga is not in the match and Jacob Fatu is not going to take the fall.
14:19So, no consequence here.
14:22No huge pop for the win.
14:25At least not for me.
14:26The show, lackluster at best.
14:28I mean, it's not terrible.
14:29It's better than things used to be way back in the day.
14:32But clearly, they could have done a lot more.
14:34And we really were missing some star power.
14:36And the last thing I want to get into tonight before we wrap it up.
14:39TNA Rebellion took place today.
14:41Indy Hartwell defeated Rosemary.
14:43And the hometown man, Cody Diener, defeated Ryan Nemeth in the pre-show.
14:47I don't know why you're conquering Ryan Nemeth.
14:51He's been involved with stuff with his brother so much.
14:53I feel like you need to book him a little stronger.
14:55Now he's kind of like he's the guy who just takes the pins everywhere.
14:58Not a big fan of that.
14:59You get to the main card.
15:01Leon Slater retained the X Division Championship over Cedric Alexander.
15:04I'm still surprised he didn't go to AEW to join the Hurt Syndicate.
15:08Matt Cardona defeated Mustafa Ali.
15:11Fine with that.
15:12The Indy God probably should be booked super strong.
15:14Though I know Mustafa Ali could do a whole lot more than they're letting him do even.
15:18I would not have a problem with him being in the World Championship picture.
15:21First Class, AJ Francis and Rich Swann defeated the system.
15:25Brian Myers and Eddie Edwards with Alicia Edwards at ringside.
15:28Clean pin.
15:29No shock and surprise there.
15:31Mike Santana.
15:32Now this one actually stung a little bit.
15:34Mike Santana defeated Sammy Callahan by pinfall.
15:37And because Callahan lost, he is retiring from in-ring competition.
15:41Probably a shoot.
15:42Probably not a work.
15:43The guy has been through it.
15:44He has done everything from death matches to TNA and all points in between.
15:48And if this really is him hanging up the boots, best of luck to him in the future.
15:52I know he has a lot that he can bring to the business in a mentor role, in an agent role.
15:57So I have to see where that takes him.
15:59But for now, he is saying goodbye to in-ring competition.
16:01The Elegance brand, Heather and Ash, retaining the Women's Knockouts Tag Team Championship.
16:09They beat the Inspiration, Cassie Lee and Jessica McKay.
16:11They defeated Fatal Influence, Fallon Henley and Jasmine Nix.
16:15And they defeated Leying Lee and Zia Brookside with Masha Slamovich.
16:21So it made a lot of sense.
16:22I don't think anybody was surprised there.
16:24Steve Macklin retained the international championship over Jake something.
16:28Again, a match, no big surprises here.
16:31The Hardys retained their Tag Team Championship over the Rascals.
16:34Zachary Wentz and Myron Reed.
16:36I don't think that's a surprise either since they've got the big match coming up at Slammiversary with the Dudleys.
16:41And the one that really kind of burns my bridges a little bit,
16:45Trick Williams retaining the TNA World Championship over Moose by pinfall.
16:49At some point, we got to get that belt off of Trick.
16:52I get it.
16:52It made a lot of sense why you put it on him early.
16:54But at this point, he's had it for a significant amount of time.
16:56It's time to move on from Trick Williams as TNA Champion and get him back into NXT.
17:02He's been doing all this TNA stuff for quite a long time.
17:05It is time to move forward, bring him back to WWE, maybe bring him to the main roster, do something,
17:10maybe have him go ahead and rerun Matthew back with Obafemi, whatever.
17:14But I just, I'm kind of over him as TNA Champion.
17:17I'm ready for a TNA superstar to carry that belt, specifically Mike Santana if I had my druthers.
17:22That's all the time we have for this episode.
17:23Check back with us next episode.
