02:41But for this episode, we are jumping straight into the reactions from night two of WWE Summer
02:48Slam 2025 and what a huge ending to the night.
02:52Let's start with Cody Rhodes defeating John Cena via pinfall in the street fight to once
03:00again become the undisputed WWE champion.
03:03Not only does he win the match, he wins it clean.
03:06I get it.
03:07It's a street fight.
03:07It's not clean.
03:08There's tons of weapons.
03:09And I love how people were acting like there was something wrong with anything Cody did
03:12during the match or John Cena for that matter.
03:14It's a street fight.
03:15It's supposed to be weapons and everything else.
03:17I love the match.
03:18I thought it was a fantastic match.
03:19I thought it was the best match of the entire Summer Slam card.
03:24And honestly, I love the fact that Cody won the way that he did.
03:28I know there were people who were expecting The Rock to appear.
03:30Some kind of interference.
03:31A double turn.
03:33Was John Cena's baby face turn on SmackDown legitimate?
03:36Was it nonsense leading to something different here?
03:39I actually love that it was real.
03:41I love that John Cena is back to being a baby face.
03:44The fans were not going to accept this heel turn.
03:47They just weren't.
03:47In terms of a program and a storyline, the John Cena heel turn is a colossal failure because
03:53of the lack of follow-up by The Rock.
03:56That being said, the baby face turn, though I think in a horrible placement, putting that
04:02on a SmackDown, I think works out very well, especially for what's coming in the future.
04:08Cody Rhodes winning the championship.
04:10Now he is freed up to move into another program.
04:13Who knows who his opponent's going to be?
04:14I suspect at some point we go down that rabbit hole of Cody versus Randy Orton for the world
04:20heavy, the undisputed WWE championship.
04:23John Cena, as they were finishing up the match, I'm thinking to myself, like, where do we go
04:27from here?
04:27I was actually, when he was still in the ring, you knew somebody was going to come out.
04:31I actually expected The Rock to come out and be angry that Cena lost and all this other
04:36stuff.
04:36It would have made a lot of sense, again, for the storyline.
04:39But like, we should all be, we shouldn't even be surprised at this point.
04:42The Rock not there.
04:43And that's, you know, a lot of ways disappointing if you were expecting it.
04:47I'm over-expecting it.
04:49I think The Rock, he shows up when he wants to, doesn't care what programs he damages or
04:53what storylines he affects.
04:55He's in it for the money.
04:57That's where my head's at at this point.
04:58I don't see him doing things that are better for the business.
05:00Now, when he came back originally and he tried to take Cody's spot at Mania, bad idea.
05:05They pivot, they shift, they go to the Cody and Seth Rollins tag team match.
05:11I was okay with that, though it wasn't something that The Rock wanted to do initially.
05:15I loved it on all the documentaries, try to claim like he thought this up.
05:19He did not.
05:19That was the fan reaction that caused that to happen.
05:21I thought the build-up to the 41 situation, I'm sorry, the 40 situation was fantastic.
05:28Going into 41, coming out at the Netflix premiere and making it sound like you buried the hatchet
05:34with Cody, only to go to the I want your soul nonsense, leading to the Elimination Chamber,
05:38the John Cena heel turn, the Travis Scott involvement.
05:41This was set up to be amazing.
05:43We still have never had any follow-up from last year when he did the whole handing him
05:48a gift when he shook his hand thing on Raw.
05:50There's been no follow-up from The Rock.
05:52Why would we expect there to be any tonight?
05:54The thing that shocks me is the appearance of the returning Brock Lesnar.
06:00His music hit.
06:02There was a huge eruption from the crowd.
06:04I think as many people were cheering because they were thrilled to see Brock, as we're shocked
06:09that Brock Lesnar is still involved in an active lawsuit against WWE from Janelle Grant
06:15that he was able to appear, this actually validates something Triple H said a year ago
06:20when someone asked him at the press conference about Brock and he said, you know, we're willing
06:24to do stuff, it's all up to Brock.
06:26What is when Brock's ready to do business?
06:28Well, apparently Brock is ready to do business.
06:30Apparently TKO, the legal team, is willing to work with Brock Lesnar because he came back
06:36tonight.
06:37And I'll be honest with you, right?
06:38For a few seconds, you know what I really wanted to see since this was his last SummerSlam,
06:43and no matter how you cut it, Survivor Series is not as big as SummerSlam or WrestleMania.
06:47I was actually kind of hoping you would have brought out maybe the four biggest rivals that
06:52John Cena has ever had, the ones that you have that you can get there.
06:58You could have had Randy Orton, you could have had Brock Lesnar, you could have had CM Punk.
07:01It would have been great to have Edge, but obviously that's not going to happen.
07:04Pick another opponent that Cena had an amazing program with or a long-standing feud with.
07:09Even if it was Triple H himself, I don't even care.
07:12And have the four guys surround the ring, get into the ring, and celebrate with Cena for
07:14his last uber-huge PLE appearance.
07:18I would have been okay with that.
07:19Not that I was surprised that it was not that.
07:22We need something for Cena to do.
07:24He has nine appearances left the rest of the year.
07:27It looks like, look, let's think about the timing here.
07:30This, to me, tells me that they will probably see this match in Saudi Arabia.
07:35That's what makes sense to me.
07:36Cena vs. Brock, the Saudi Arabian government probably got involved in this conversation.
07:41It's probably a big part of why WWE and TKO were willing to bring Brock back, is for the
07:46Saudi Arabia payoff.
07:47That's where I think we'll see this match.
07:50He hits the ring.
07:50He hits the F5 on Cena.
07:52It sets up a future encounter with these two.
07:55In the Cena retirement tour, this is what I didn't need.
07:58Not that I'm against Brock.
08:00Look, I get all the personal stuff, and I'm not going to go down the rabbit hole with that.
08:05But, again, that's character outside.
08:08I'm just talking about within the business.
08:10Within the business, all along the way, for years, since he debuted, I've always been a
08:15Brock Lesnar fan.
08:16People who have seen the website that I used to have up, pictures and stuff like that.
08:21It was one of my favorite pictures when I took a picture with Brock Lesnar in 2003.
08:24I've been a long-term fan of Brock's.
08:26So, seeing him come back, I'm thrilled to see the guy back.
08:29At the same time, when you only have limited dates, I want to see Cena do things that make
08:34an impact for talent that are going to be there when he's gone.
08:39We've seen Cena versus Brock.
08:41We've seen it multiple times.
08:43We saw it way back when he was still, you know, Thugonomic Cena.
08:47We saw it again when he became, you know, Super Cena.
08:50We saw it again when Brock came back at Extreme Rules.
08:53We saw it again at a SummerSlam after that where Brock took him to Suplex City 900,000
08:58times.
08:58We've seen it over and over and over again.
09:01We don't need to see it again for this farewell tour.
09:05Now, it's interesting I say that because I almost sound hypocritical because we did,
09:09we wanted the whole CM Punk thing, but that was different.
09:12It was very different because the pipe bomb and all that stuff was so historic and that
09:15all came out of that feud.
09:17I can't remember a whole lot of stuff other than the actual matches themselves that came
09:21from the Cena-Brock stuff.
09:23If you were going to bring back former opponents, this would not have been one that I would
09:26have gone with.
09:26Now, we already saw the Randy Orton.
09:28We saw the CM Punk.
09:29So I guess maybe this ties into like trying to check off one more time with all these people
09:33that he's had history with.
09:35I just would have preferred it be a newer talent somebody.
09:38And if you're going to run it back with somebody, run it back with Seth Rollins now.
09:41Seth is now the World Heavyweight Champion.
09:43Cena could have ran that feud back.
09:46We still would have loved to have seen Cena and Roman again if you're going to run something
09:50back.
09:51Those make sense to me.
09:52Even a Cena solo, a Cena and Jacob Fatu, a Cena and I don't need, Gunther we've talked
09:58about repeatedly.
10:00All of those make sense.
10:01We only have nine appearances left.
10:02Mathematically, it's almost impossible for most of those to take place.
10:05I wouldn't even mind a Cena-Dominic Mysterio feud.
10:08As weird as that may sound.
10:10How bizarre would this be?
10:12Ready?
10:12Here comes my crazy booking.
10:14Dominic Mysterio on the 16th of August at Triple Mania for AAA is going to be wrestling for the
10:20AAA Mega Championship.
10:22You know how much I think it would be hilarious to have John Cena win the AAA Mega Championship
10:28before he leaves?
10:28Or go to TNA and win the TNA Heavyweight Championship from Trick Williams?
10:32I don't even care.
10:34All of that makes more sense to me because of who you're in the ring with than this does.
10:38Again, not sad to see Brock.
10:40I like seeing Brock, but this didn't hit the way I would have loved for it to hit.
10:45I would have preferred the Rock or something else that made more sense.
10:48The double turn or something.
10:50But at the end of the day, easily the best match, in my opinion, of the night.
10:54It was not a long match, so to speak.
10:57It took up a good chunk of time, but a good part of that time was walking around.
11:01You know, it was 37 minutes, 45 seconds total time of the match, which I guess is a lengthy
11:06match, certainly by WWE terms, but with all the walking and all that, it took up a lot
11:10of time, just saying.
11:12Let's go to the rest of the card because we've got to cover the rest of it, too.
11:14The show opened with what could have easily been the main event, Naomi defeating Rhea Ripley
11:20and EO Sky to retain the Women's World Championship.
11:25Look, I predicted that ahead of time.
11:27I don't see Rhea conquering her Achilles heel in EO Sky unless it's at WrestleMania.
11:34I think this is beautiful for Naomi now getting a chance to go for that Crown Jewel Championship.
11:41What I would have liked to have seen is Jade Cargill pick up the WWE Women's Championship to
11:48have that big match between Naomi and Jade for that championship.
11:53Obviously, they didn't do that, so now we're going to see, I guess, Naomi and Tiffany Stratton.
11:56Unless something changes between now and then, we could still see Stephanie Vecure in France
12:01win the championship there.
12:02There is rumor that they're going to put a rocket ship on her and shoot her to the moon,
12:06too, so that's possible, but I think the Ripley-EO thing has to happen at Mania for Rhea
12:11to finally get her win over EO.
12:13It is also strange that Rhea's never won at SummerSlam.
12:15I actually had not thought of that.
12:17All the more reason, it leaves that for a future opportunity, and Naomi, this may be one
12:22of her final big runs because she wants to start a family, and she's got some reproductive
12:26concerns.
12:26So, I'm thrilled for Naomi.
12:30It was a decent match.
12:31I don't think it was anywhere near as good as the match at WrestleMania that they had,
12:35but this was still a very solid match.
12:37We go to the tables, ladders, and chairs match.
12:39All right.
12:40This is where I'm going to complain a little bit.
12:42I get it.
12:42The original TLC had a lot of outside interference.
12:45Each team had somebody who came out.
12:46I was fine with that.
12:49I think, you know, the Wyatt Six had Nikki Cross come out.
12:53DIY having Candice, which it looked like Candice took a heck of a spill there.
12:57Hopefully, she's okay.
12:59Fraxium has nothing, nobody that could have come out for them.
13:03You could have had an NXT superstar debut and represent them.
13:07Same thing with the Machine Guns.
13:08I don't know who you'd have had to represent them.
13:10Street Profits had B-Fab there.
13:12Everybody should have had somebody, and you missed an opportunity here, in my opinion,
13:15because Andrade and Rey Fenix could have had somebody come out who's not on the card,
13:19who needs to be, if you're really serious about his talent, and that would have been Penta.
13:24Imagine the eruption if Penta would have come out for Andrade and Rey Fenix.
13:28I actually was kind of hoping that they would do an angle where the Wyatt Six would have
13:33attacked Andrade before the bell started, and you could have taken Andrade out of the
13:37match and replaced Andrade with Penta, and Penta and Fenix could have won the championships,
13:42so you could have unified the Lucha Bros.
13:44I would have loved that.
13:45Instead, Wyatt Six retained.
13:47I'm okay with the retention.
13:49Here comes my complaint.
13:50My complaint is, I'm okay with outside interference, one person per team, but this was like six
13:55people, or five, six people against all these other teams that didn't have anywhere near
14:00that advantage.
14:01It gets to be laborious.
14:03It really does.
14:04It's one thing you had Eric Rowan come out.
14:06I was fine with that.
14:07But then when you also have Nikki Cross, and you have Uncle Howdy, it gets too much.
14:13Especially when we go to our next match with Becky Lynch retaining the WWE Women's Intercontinental
14:20Championship over Lyra Valkyria due to the outside interference of Bayley.
14:24Now, we've got back-to-back matches with outside interference directly resulting in the outcome
14:29of the match.
14:30That is a problem.
14:32It's a problem because it's a pattern.
14:34This was a great match, and I always expected Bayley to get involved, but if she's going
14:38to get involved, you had to do less in the ladder match, the TLC match.
14:42Instead, you have crazy interference in the second match.
14:45You have crazy interference in this match.
14:47I'm fine with how it went down.
14:49Really didn't turn Bayley heel, but it's definitely something you could do if you wanted to.
14:53I'm really hoping they don't turn her heel, but it does make a lot of sense for her to
14:57align with Becky Lynch as like the OGs to go against the younger generation, but we'll
15:01have to wait and see how that plays out in the coming weeks.
15:03And then we get to this running theme here.
15:06Solo Sokoa defeats Jacob Fatu by escaping the cage or retains the WWE United States Championship.
15:12Again, massive outside interference, one guy coming out to defend Jacob Fatu, three guys
15:19coming out for Solo Sokoa.
15:20It's obnoxious.
15:21It's overkill.
15:22Unless you were going to debut more people to help out Jacob Fatu, the guy's got a family
15:26infinitely long.
15:27Bring somebody else in, okay, or do something, you know, and this was just too, there was
15:32no feasible way for Jacob Fatu to win this match.
15:36And I think the high spot everybody wanted was the flip off the top of the cage.
15:40Did you save that for the post-match part where he had JC Mateo and Tonga Loa in the
15:46ring?
15:47And I love the spot, but that should have been something he did to Solo, not to two lackeys
15:52after the match is over.
15:54It really killed the importance of him hitting that moonsault off the top of the cage.
16:00I was okay with Jimmy Uso being out there.
16:02I was okay with all the other guys being there.
16:03I just, three straight matches with outside interference, and it created anxiety heading
16:09into match five where you see Dominic Mysterio retain the WWE Intercontinental Championship
16:14over AJ Styles, essentially clean.
16:18Not clean because, you know, he unzips his boot.
16:20AJ puts him into calf crusher, much like the WrestleMania match with Eddie Guerrero versus
16:26Kurt Angle years ago where, you know, Kurt Angle puts on the ankle lock, pulls off the
16:30boot.
16:30Eddie gets away.
16:32The difference here being that he takes the boot and waffles AJ with it, hits the frog
16:35splash for the win.
16:37I'm okay with the win, but because of the previous three matches, you were waiting for Judgment
16:43Day to come out the whole time, expecting outside interference, and there was none.
16:47None whatsoever.
16:48Finn Balor and JD McDonough were not anywhere on this pay-per-view.
16:52That's a problem.
16:53They're the World Tag Team Champions.
16:55They should have been featured somewhere.
16:57This is a match that needed some outside interference.
17:00They could have easily had it.
17:02AJ could have fought it off, and you still could have done everything you did to finish
17:05up the match, and it would have made more sense.
17:07This match needed it.
17:09Some of the others did not.
17:11And then, of course, we're back to the Cody Rhodes, John Cena, Brock Lesnar thing.
17:14So that's the rundown of the card.
17:16Overall, let's do it this way.
17:19Night two, a decent show.
17:22Some really incredible.
17:23I think the Naomi, Rhea, Io match was solid.
17:26I think the TLC match was actually very good.
17:29I just didn't love all the outside stuff, especially Wyatt Six related.
17:33Becky and Lyra, they delivered.
17:35I just didn't like the outside interference.
17:37Again, Solo and Jacob Fatu was a little bit of a letdown.
17:40I felt like it was very, very basic.
17:42You know, there was not the complexity that you were hoping to see, especially from Jacob
17:47Fatu.
17:47The guy can do much more than just doing his backflip.
17:50He really can.
17:51And superkicks.
17:53I feel like all the matches between these guys, the whole bloodline faction, any side
17:57of it, is all a superkick party.
17:59People make fun of the Young Bucks for superkick parties, but that's the entire bloodline except
18:03for Roman Reigns.
18:05So whatever.
18:07That match just did not wow me.
18:08The Mysterio Styles match, 10 minutes, 45 seconds.
18:12That match should have gone a lot longer.
18:14I think it could have really delivered in a much longer.
18:16Another five minutes.
18:18Five to seven.
18:19Really give them time.
18:20And for two reasons.
18:22One, it makes the pay-per-view feel more substantial.
18:26Two, Dominic Mysterio is heading into headline triple mania.
18:30Dominic Mysterio, I'm just giving my opinion, has become such a consistent performer.
18:35It would be beautiful to see him really put into an opportunity to go out there for a
18:40much longer period of time.
18:41And that did not happen in this match.
18:44I really would have liked to see him get more time to showcase himself.
18:48The Cody-Cena match, by far best match of the night.
18:51Now, in comparison to night one, I don't think there is any match on the card both nights
18:58that competes with the Cody-Cena match unless, I cannot believe I'm going to say this, the
19:03Drew McIntyre-Logan Paul-Randy Orton-Jelly Roll match.
19:06That's the only other match that I felt like had the level of intensity that this match
19:11had.
19:12Go figure.
19:13And a big part of that being Jelly Roll taking those two huge spots with Logan Paul.
19:19Pay-per-view as a whole, very happy.
19:21I thought night one was better than night two, except for the final match.
19:25But as a whole, the two nights, fantastic pay-per-view.
19:28WWE is doing a great job.
19:29I wish there'd be less interference, less repetitive booking for the storylines.
19:33But look, nothing's going to be perfect.
19:35I think Triple H is doing a fantastic job, and we have a lot to look forward to in the
19:39coming weeks and months.
19:41And I can't wait to see where we go with the next with John Cena's retirement tour.
19:45But we got nine more appearances, several in France.
19:49We've got Perth.
19:53We've got at least three pay-per-views in the United States.
19:56We've got that last December appearance, probably a Saturday night main event.
20:00So a lot to go.
20:01We'll have to see where that goes.
20:03All in all, great night of wrestling action.
