02:48and anything else you want us to go over in a future episode.
02:51Let's look at the news for the day.
02:53And the big thing I think that's really, like, rubbing me the wrong way this week
02:56is the situation with Ridge Holland and WWE.
03:00For those who have been sleeping under a rocker, have no idea what I'm talking about.
03:03Ridge Holland, former NXT superstar, former rugby player,
03:07called up to the main roster, part of the Brawling Brutes.
03:10He's the guy who accidentally broke Big E's neck
03:13and then eventually transitioned back to NXT
03:16and has recently been released from WWE.
03:18Let's add some context to that whole little vine there that I went down.
03:23When this gentleman was on the main roster,
03:25he voluntarily went to management and asked for a demotion to NXT
03:29and negotiated to take $200,000 less salary to help out
03:35to go down and re-tweak his character,
03:39build more recognition, more clout to his character in NXT
03:43to then later be called back to the main roster.
03:46He goes down to NXT, gets injured, out for, oh, I guess about eight, nine months,
03:52comes back, gets into another storyline.
03:53At one point, won the Tag Team Championship in NXT with Chase U,
03:57only to turn on them.
03:59But eventually, what we get to is he goes to TNA Wrestling
04:03with no additional pay for performing in TNA shows,
04:06and he gets injured in TNA and is on the shelf, out of action.
04:10WWE comes to him and tells him that they are not going to renew his contract.
04:16The issue is his contract is scheduled to expire November 14th of this year,
04:21long before he's able to earn a living as a professional wrestler elsewhere
04:26because of the injury he suffered while not getting paid,
04:30doing extra duty, helping TNA in this WWE-TNA partnership.
04:34I did see on the Wrestling Observer YouTube channel
04:40where Dave Meltzer had made reference to the fact
04:43that he felt that WWE was looking to possibly cut Ridge Holland
04:46before he went back to NXT
04:48and that this was a way to keep his job and then try to reinvent himself,
04:52and I appreciate all that,
04:53but it really doesn't change how I feel about this.
04:55This is a guy who got hurt on the job,
04:58and now he's being left out to dry.
05:00He was online.
05:01He was complaining about how he's really screwed here.
05:04He has no income coming in now,
05:06and he can't work.
05:07He can't sustain himself.
05:08He's worried about losing his house.
05:10All this other stuff, he had some profanity thrown in there,
05:12and if you tune into this show often,
05:14you know I try to deviate away from that kind of stuff,
05:16but at the end of the day,
05:18he was very upset about the situation he's in.
05:22Now, it's bad enough that as of November 14th,
05:24he was going to be without an income,
05:25without much of a way to earn one.
05:27I'll get to that in a minute,
05:28but now because he vocalized his concerns,
05:32WWE has already told him they weren't renewing,
05:34his contract,
05:34but technically he was still under contract,
05:37being paid until November 14th,
05:39and because he spoke out about how frustrated he is,
05:42they've literally ended,
05:44terminated his contract,
05:45and fired him now for cause.
05:47So now,
05:48not only can he not earn money
05:50after his contract runs out,
05:51but his contract is over.
05:53So he loses a couple weeks' pay.
05:54Now, I don't know what that amount of money is.
05:56I really don't,
05:56especially if he took a pay cut
05:57to go down to NXT-level pay,
05:59but at the end of the day,
06:01this reeks of bad business,
06:03not necessarily in that
06:05they were going to probably get rid of the guy anyways,
06:07and he would have had to go figure something else out.
06:09I understand.
06:10Look, accidents happen.
06:11People get hurt in the ring.
06:12I'm not blaming WWE because he got hurt,
06:15but this,
06:16think about the black guy this puts on TKO
06:19and the way they handle business.
06:20Earlier in the year,
06:21Karl Anderson hurts his shoulder.
06:23He's out.
06:24They release him while he's injured.
06:26Now,
06:27Ridge Holland injured.
06:28They release him again.
06:32Professionally speaking,
06:32that is something that Vince McMahon,
06:34for all the things we could say about Vince McMahon
06:35and his character
06:36and the way he handled business,
06:38that is not something Vince McMahon
06:39ever would have done
06:40when he was in charge of WWE.
06:41He would have taken care of talent
06:43until they were able to earn an income,
06:44and then he would have let them go.
06:46Now,
06:46it may seem heartless to still let them go,
06:48but at least they could go out
06:49and earn a living
06:50when they were injured.
06:52Heck,
06:52he got a promotion in AEW.
06:54where Tony Khan hires people
06:55and sits them at home
06:56for months and years at a time,
06:58still earning an income,
06:59and here's TKO,
06:59the biggest company in the world,
07:01making more money than ever
07:02in the history of the business,
07:04and somehow they can't afford
07:05to keep this guy on payroll
07:06for a couple weeks
07:07or even until he recovers.
07:08Now,
07:08he did emphasize
07:09that they are paying
07:10for his medical issues
07:12and PT
07:13and all that kind of stuff,
07:14but it's not enough.
07:15It's just not enough.
07:16Now,
07:17can he downsize?
07:18Can he save his home?
07:20Whatever.
07:20I don't know.
07:20I don't know his situation.
07:21I don't need to know his situation.
07:22What I know is
07:23if I'm a wrestling talent
07:24and I have to choose
07:25between WWE and AEW
07:27and I see that Tony Khan
07:28has who knows
07:29how many people
07:30on the payroll
07:30who still get a paycheck
07:32and who are still
07:33being taken care of
07:34no matter what
07:35their injury status is.
07:36Like,
07:37for example,
07:38in the news today,
07:38Adam Cole.
07:39Adam Cole announced
07:40way back
07:41at Double or Nothing
07:42that he,
07:43when he was TNT champion,
07:44that he had to relinquish
07:45the championship
07:46because he had to deal
07:47with some personal issues.
07:47It's come out since then
07:49that those personal issues
07:50have to do with
07:51concussion issues.
07:52He is still experiencing
07:54concussion issues.
07:55Has no plan.
07:56There are no plans
07:57in AEW
07:57to bring him back
07:58anytime soon,
07:59yet Tony Khan
08:00is still paying him.
08:01And it was noted today
08:02that Tony Khan
08:05expects to try
08:06to keep him
08:06on the roster
08:07as long as possible.
08:09Think about the difference
08:10in approach here.
08:11If I'm a wrestler
08:12who's looking to sign
08:13a new contract,
08:14who do you sign with?
08:15WWE for the huge exposure,
08:18traveling the world,
08:19the fame,
08:20the recognition,
08:21fine.
08:21If that's what motivates you,
08:23I get it.
08:24And I'm not saying
08:25if I was given the opportunity
08:26to go to one or the other,
08:27I wouldn't necessarily
08:28choose WWE either.
08:29However,
08:30if you think about it
08:30from a sustainability standpoint
08:32and look at it
08:32from being able
08:33to take care of your family,
08:35pay your bills,
08:35and know that you're covered,
08:37AEW just became
08:40much more
08:40of a realistic option.
08:42Not to mention
08:43the fact that they're
08:43offering big money contracts
08:45anyways
08:45because Tony Khan
08:46seems to pay very well.
08:47So,
08:48I don't know.
08:48I don't like the look
08:49for WWE.
08:49I understand it to a degree
08:51that they didn't want
08:52to keep him anyways,
08:53but when you wait
08:54until a guy is hurt
08:55and disabled essentially
08:56from being able
08:57to earn a living,
08:58very messed up.
08:59Very, very messed up.
09:00He also referenced
09:01that he may need neck fusion,
09:02all this other stuff.
09:03It's just not a bad situation.
09:05Well wishes out
09:06to Ridge Holland.
09:06He does have a GoFundMe
09:07up there.
09:08I saw a few people
09:09donated to it.
09:10Chelsea Green,
09:11amongst others,
09:12had donated
09:12to his GoFundMe account.
09:13So,
09:15definitely something
09:16to keep an eye on.
09:16I'm really ashamed
09:17to see a guy
09:18who's, you know,
09:19trying to make a go
09:20of this profession
09:21be treated that way.
09:23On the topic of Tony Khan,
09:25got to get into
09:25the other thing
09:26that I feel like
09:26is somewhat controversial
09:27this week.
09:28We have full gear
09:30right around the corner.
09:30We have Tony Khan
09:31coming out on X
09:33this week
09:33speaking about
09:35a new men's championship
09:37being introduced
09:38that they're going
09:39to have a casino
09:40gauntlet match
09:41to crown the first
09:42ever national champion
09:44for AEW.
09:46They compared
09:47the lineage
09:47or the,
09:49basically the history
09:51of the national championship
09:52to that of the NWA
09:55national championship
09:56from back in the day.
09:57They made reference
09:58to the fact
09:58that it'll be defended
09:59in AEW,
10:01in New Japan,
10:01Pro Wrestling,
10:02Ring of Honor,
10:03CMLL,
10:04and the Indies.
10:06Look,
10:06here's the thing.
10:07It's a couple things.
10:08One,
10:09every AEW championship
10:11is able to be defended
10:13anywhere.
10:13And many of them
10:14have been defended
10:15elsewhere before.
10:16So,
10:16I don't feel like
10:17having a championship
10:17that travels
10:18is any different
10:19than anything
10:20you already had.
10:20That's part one.
10:21Part two,
10:22you had
10:22an all-Atlantic
10:24championship
10:24that turned
10:25into the
10:25international championship
10:27that turned
10:27into the
10:28continental championship
10:29that merged
10:30with another
10:33championship
10:34to become
10:34the,
10:35whatever they call it
10:36now.
10:37I don't even know
10:37what the heck
10:37Okada's championship
10:39is called anymore
10:39because of the
10:40unified championship.
10:42So,
10:42now you've got
10:42all these championships
10:43you had before
10:44you rounded up
10:45and wrangled together
10:46to make it
10:46into one championship
10:47and now here comes
10:48another championship
10:49back out.
10:50And somebody made
10:51reference,
10:51I forget which program
10:52it was,
10:52I apologize,
10:53probably on Busted
10:53Open,
10:54talking about how
10:55if it's a
10:55television championship,
10:56isn't that what
10:57the TNT championship
10:58and the TBS
10:59Women's Championship
10:59were?
11:01That's why they're
11:01named after television
11:02networks,
11:03they're essentially
11:03supposed to be
11:04like television
11:04championships.
11:06So,
11:06if they're the
11:07television championships,
11:08is this almost
11:11like the
11:11Intercontinental
11:12or the United
11:12States championship?
11:13And if that's
11:14the case,
11:14look,
11:14I get it,
11:15that's like giving
11:15a MIG card title
11:16and having a TV
11:17title being separate,
11:17but at some point,
11:18like all these
11:19championships,
11:20they have to mean
11:22something.
11:23Now,
11:23I'm in the minority
11:24here,
11:24I'm probably a
11:25suspect that when it
11:26comes to diehard
11:26fans,
11:27there's a lot of
11:27people who are
11:28like we have too
11:28many championships
11:29in wrestling.
11:30When I used to
11:30watch,
11:31and I'm old enough,
11:32I apologize to my
11:33fans who are much
11:33younger than me,
11:34so bear with me on
11:35this boring old
11:35stuff,
11:36but I can remember
11:36watching NWA
11:37Worldwide Wrestling
11:40Saturday mornings and
11:42you would have
11:42people like Tully
11:44Blanchard with the
11:44National Heavyweight
11:45Championship on the
11:46same show with
11:46Arne Anderson,
11:47the NWA World
11:48Television Champion,
11:49with Ole and Arne
11:51being the National
11:52Tag Team Champions,
11:53while Manny
11:54Fernandez and Rick
11:54Rude were the
11:55World Tag Team
11:56Champions,
11:57while Dusty Rhodes
11:58had the
12:00America's
12:00Championship,
12:02and Hawk
12:04Animal and Dusty
12:05were the six-man
12:06Tag Team Champions,
12:07and Ric Flair was
12:07the World Heavyweight
12:08Champion,
12:09and Magnum TA was
12:10the United States
12:11Champion,
12:12and you had the
12:12Western States
12:13Heritage Champion
12:14and the Mid-Atlantic
12:15Champion,
12:16and that was all
12:18within the NWA
12:18umbrella in one
12:19area for those who
12:20don't know anything
12:21about the NWA,
12:22the NWA being a
12:22conglomerate of
12:23massive promotions
12:24all over the
12:25country,
12:25and they all had
12:26their own regional
12:27United States World
12:28Tag Team and
12:29Heavyweight Champions
12:30and America's
12:30Champion and all
12:31that kind of stuff.
12:32That's why when you
12:32go into the record
12:33books and try to
12:33find the lineages
12:34of all these
12:35championships,
12:35it's so difficult,
12:37is because the
12:38NWA World Tag Team
12:40Champions in
12:41Georgia were
12:42different from the
12:42NWA World Tag Team
12:43Champions in Los
12:44Angeles, and they
12:45were different from
12:45the ones in
12:46Detroit, and they
12:47were different from
12:47the ones in
12:48wherever, pick
12:49another location,
12:50you know, and so
12:52when people talk
12:53about how there's
12:53too many championships,
12:54I feel like as
12:55long as you make
12:56the championship
12:57matches feel like
12:58something and give
12:59them genuine
12:59consequence, they're
13:00actually a great
13:01prop to have
13:02because when you
13:03have somebody like
13:04Orange Cassidy, not
13:06in the world
13:07championship picture
13:08right now, he's
13:10held the
13:10international
13:10championship before,
13:12right now he's
13:12not in the picture
13:13for Okada's
13:14championship, what
13:16do you do with
13:16him, and he needs
13:18to be chasing
13:18something, and this
13:19creates something for
13:20him to chase.
13:22The flip side of
13:23that, we do have
13:24another championship
13:25debuting at the
13:26exact same pay-per-view
13:27where we're going to
13:28see the Women's Tag
13:29Team Championship
13:29determined, and that's
13:32a championship that
13:33absolutely deserves to
13:34be there, and I
13:34think they should have
13:35done a while ago, I'm
13:36glad they're doing it
13:36now, but it does start
13:38to feel like, I mean
13:39you have two in this
13:40company, and let's be
13:41honest, Ring of Honor
13:42and AEW are the same
13:43company, I'm tired of
13:44acting like they're not.
13:45You've got two sets of
13:47trios tag championships,
13:49two sets of tag team
13:50championships, two
13:51women's championships,
13:53the TBS slash Ring of
13:54Honor Television
13:55Championship, and an
13:56interim Ring of Honor
13:57Television Women's
13:57Championship.
13:58You've got all the
14:00men's, it's an obnoxious
14:01number of titles, I get
14:02it, it doesn't matter
14:03as long as you love
14:05watching the matches
14:06and they feel like
14:07there's a reason to be
14:08watching them.
14:09When I see Okada and
14:11Kanosuke Takeshi
14:14look like they're going
14:15to come to blows, and
14:16one of them is the
14:17Unified Champion, and
14:18one of them is the
14:19IWGP Champion, that's
14:21exciting.
14:22Those championships
14:23mean something to me.
14:25The TNT Championship
14:26with Kyle Fletcher means
14:27something to me.
14:28Go over to the WWE
14:29side of things.
14:30Dominic Mysterio has
14:31made the Intercontinental
14:32Championship very
14:33prestigious, as did
14:34Gunther previously.
14:36I think he's bringing
14:36prestige to the AAA
14:38Mega Championship.
14:39I think the NXT title
14:40is fine.
14:41I think even the
14:42Evolve stuff is fine.
14:43All the major
14:44championships on the
14:45main roster are fine.
14:46The one that might be
14:47lacking the most, I
14:48think, is the Women's
14:49United States Championship,
14:50and that's just due to
14:51poor booking and lack
14:52of time to really
14:53showcase that championship
14:54on TV and putting
14:55Julia in a bad spot
14:56to begin with.
14:56Should have left the
14:57belt on Chelsea Green
14:58at this point, but I
14:59think championships
15:00are a good thing, so I
15:00don't have a problem
15:01with all the
15:02championships.
15:03I think it's going to
15:03be a good thing down
15:05the line if it's built
15:06correctly.
15:07I will have to wait
15:08and see.
15:08Let's get into some
15:09other conversation.
15:10Tyrus, for those who
15:11don't remember, Tyrus,
15:12former NWA World
15:13Champion.
15:15He was a big thing in
15:17WWE for a hot minute
15:19and then disappeared.
15:20Was in TNA for a little
15:22while, retired now
15:23supposedly, at least for
15:24now, he was speaking
15:27about John Cena's
15:29farewell match, and he
15:31made reference to a
15:32couple people who may
15:33be there for the match
15:36that can be somewhat
15:37controversial, one being
15:39Vince McMahon, since
15:41it's John Cena's final
15:42match, and Vince McMahon
15:43is the one who gave
15:43John Cena this
15:44opportunity to be who
15:46he eventually became.
15:48Tyrus believes that
15:49McMahon needs to be
15:50there.
15:50Maybe not on camera,
15:51but he needs to be
15:52there.
15:52And the other one is
15:53the current president
15:54of the United States,
15:55Donald Trump, who has
15:56a history of being very
15:58closely linked to
15:59professional wrestling,
16:00hosting WrestleManias 4 and
16:015 at Trump Plaza in New
16:03Jersey, being involved in
16:06the Battle of the
16:07Billionaires match with
16:08Umaga and Bobby Lashley
16:10previously, and now, of
16:11course, still a huge
16:12wrestling fan, and that he
16:13may be there.
16:14And the concern of
16:15whether that's going to
16:15be a problem for fans who
16:19are not fans of Donald
16:20Trump or whatnot, it's a
16:22wrestling show.
16:23Donald Trump was a
16:24character before he was
16:25a president.
16:26If you hate him that
16:27much, don't watch the
16:28show.
16:28What do you want from
16:29me?
16:29I'm not here to be
16:30super political.
16:32I hate getting too
16:33political.
16:33I'm a professional
16:34wrestling fan.
16:35I want to see John Cena's
16:36final match, and I
16:36really don't care who's
16:37in attendance.
16:38It's like when people
16:39booed Hulk Hogan out of
16:40the building at his
16:41final appearance when he
16:43promoted the Real
16:44American Beer.
16:45I don't let that outside
16:47stuff impact my pro
16:49wrestling viewership
16:50because we are all
16:51flawed individuals.
16:52Everybody makes
16:53mistakes.
16:54I'm not here to judge
16:54anyone in my faith
16:56system.
16:57I believe that's not my
16:57job.
16:58That belongs to a much
16:59higher person on the
17:00totem pole.
17:00So in the end, I'm going
17:01to enjoy the show.
17:03I don't care if they're
17:04there.
17:04I prefer to not see
17:06them on camera, but if
17:07they're on camera,
17:07whatever.
17:08It is what it is.
17:09It's not going to take
17:10anything away from me.
17:10If it does for you, I'm
17:12really sorry that you
17:12allow politics and things
17:14like that to be so
17:14important that you can't
17:16relax sometimes and have
17:17a good time.
17:17And if that brings me
17:18flack on this channel, I
17:19apologize again, but it's
17:21a wrestling show.
17:22It's meant to have
17:23characters.
17:23It's meant to have
17:24drama and heat.
17:25And some people would
17:27love to see Donald Trump
17:27on the show.
17:28Some would get lots of
17:29heat for having him on
17:29the show.
17:30More power to WWE if
17:31they let him be there.
17:33Some other WWE news,
17:34there's conversation about
17:35three potential main
17:36roster call-ups from
17:37NXT.
17:38Number one on the list
17:39being Jordan Grace, who
17:41is making main roster
17:42money already.
17:44Fightful Select saying
17:45that they believe that she
17:46is a strong candidate to
17:47be called up to the main
17:48roster, followed by
17:49JC Jane, former NXT
17:51women's champion.
17:52She had the championship
17:53for 150 days, and
17:54apparently she is very
17:56strongly being considered.
17:57And the one that kind of
17:57surprised me, it was
17:59referenced as being a
18:00quote, sink or swim
18:02opportunity on the main
18:03roster for Wendy Chu,
18:05who has done everything
18:06from NXT to making a
18:08little dalliance with TNA
18:10to evolve.
18:11Kind of like, hey, we need
18:13to put you up here and see
18:14what you can do and see if
18:15you can make it work.
18:15If not, they'll probably
18:16cut her, but I actually
18:17would like to see all
18:18three of those ladies on
18:19the main roster at some
18:20point.
18:20I think it would be very
18:20interesting.
18:23That being said, I think,
18:25you know, speaking of like
18:27the interesting call-ups
18:28to the main roster and
18:29things of that nature, we
18:30have to get into the John
18:31Cena tournament.
18:32I hated the announcement
18:34of the first two matches,
18:35the Sheamus versus
18:36Nakamura match.
18:37I feel like there's no
18:40pomp and circumstance to it.
18:41John Cena's final match is
18:42not going to be against
18:43Sheamus or against
18:44Shinsuke Nakamura.
18:45WWE would not miss the
18:47opportunity for something
18:48amazing there.
18:50When you go into the
18:51Rusev versus Damian
18:53Priest match, I would have
18:55no problem with Damian
18:57Priest challenging John
18:58Cena just because I feel
18:59like it would be a great
19:00way to elevate somebody who
19:01you never would have
19:02expected to be elevated.
19:03Rusev, I would have been
19:04fine with until he lost so
19:06many matches to Dominic
19:07Mysterio.
19:07So he's not realistic, and
19:08I don't think Damian
19:09Priest is either.
19:10So you start thinking about
19:11who else could be a part of
19:12this.
19:12And when you think about
19:13it, there's not a lot of
19:14names left that you can
19:15really go with that could
19:16be that person or that
19:18group of people to be in
19:20the tournament.
19:20You know, you got to
19:21suspect, you know, we have
19:2214 other spots.
19:24You got to suspect certain
19:25people like potentially
19:26Randy Orton, Drew
19:28McIntyre.
19:30You probably have to look at
19:32somebody like, oh gosh,
19:35what the heck is his name?
19:36Trick Williams from NXT.
19:38Um, I would imagine
19:40Carmelo Hayes would
19:41possibly be involved in
19:42some way, shape, or form.
19:43Maybe the Miz.
19:45Um, then you, then you
19:46got to think about some of
19:47the more, more interesting
19:48ones like Joe Hendry is
19:49probably going to be
19:50involved in some way,
19:51shape, or form.
19:51I would love to see Matt
19:52Cardona involved.
19:54Um, I think those would be
19:55solid ones.
19:56I, I don't love that they
19:58teased like the outside the
20:00company conversation because
20:01let's be honest, TNA really
20:02kind of is within the
20:03company.
20:04Um, AAA, maybe you do
20:06something with Mr. Iguana
20:07or somebody like, you know,
20:09Psycho Clown or Pagano.
20:11Um, but if you really want
20:13to pop the people, ready?
20:15And I, and I'll preface by
20:17saying there is absolutely
20:18zero percent chance that
20:20either of these things
20:21takes place.
20:22Let me just say that up
20:23front because I want
20:23anybody to suddenly think
20:24that like, I'm just insane
20:25and I'm giving you some
20:26crazy prediction.
20:27It's not going to happen.
20:27Of course it's not going
20:28to happen, but that's not
20:29what I'm getting at.
20:30One of two things I won.
20:32And WWE needs to have a
20:35gentleman's conversation
20:36with Tony Khan.
20:37The gentleman's conversation
20:38needs to be, why do we
20:39have to be at odds?
20:40Why do we have to be at
20:41war?
20:41You do what you do well.
20:43We do what we do well.
20:44We do things very
20:45differently.
20:45But in terms of this, we
20:47have an Andrade situation
20:48right now where Andrade
20:49is sitting on the bench
20:50because of this one year
20:51no compete thing, which
20:52is ludicrous to begin with.
20:54And if Tony Khan wanted
20:55to pay finance, this could
20:56really fight this in
20:57court and screw WWE over.
20:58They ought to be thankful
20:59he's not.
21:00That being said, I think
21:02it opens the door to the
21:03opportunity for what
21:04everybody's been fantasy
21:05booking, which I don't
21:05again, I don't think is
21:06going to happen.
21:07But if you made a deal
21:08where you will release
21:10Andrade from his one year
21:12non-compete clause to
21:14allow Edge, Adam Copeland,
21:16to be John Cena's final
21:17opponent, I'm in.
21:19Thousand percent.
21:20I think it's a very good
21:22negotiation and it's a
21:23doorway into other
21:25negotiations with WWE and
21:27AEW when you realize you
21:29can be friends.
21:30You can work together.
21:31If you can work as AEW
21:33with CMLL and places like
21:34that, if you're WWE and
21:36you can work with Pro
21:36Wrestling Noah and TNA and
21:38other places, then you can
21:39make this work if you
21:40wanted to.
21:41And there's no reason to
21:42not want to.
21:43It doesn't have to be so
21:44divisive.
21:45We talk about tribalism and
21:47wrestling with the fans all
21:48the time.
21:48There's more tribalism within
21:50the companies than there
21:51are the fans sometimes if
21:52they're not willing to try
21:53to do the right thing.
21:54And here is why I want it
21:55to be considered so highly
21:58because another person,
22:00ready, here comes my real
22:01shooting for the moon,
22:02absolutely not going to
22:04happen.
22:05I would love for Hiroshi
22:08Tanahashi to be in the
22:10tournament.
22:11I know he wouldn't win the
22:13tournament even though I
22:13would love to see Tanahashi
22:14and John Cena.
22:15That fantasy match has been
22:17booked in many fans' minds
22:18for a long, long time if you
22:19know anything about New Japan.
22:20But if you open the door,
22:23negotiate with Tony Khan for
22:24Andrade and Adam Copeland is
22:26the final opponent, but you
22:27could also open the door to
22:28him and with Tanahashi to
22:30New Japan because Tanahashi
22:31is the president of New Japan
22:32and set it up so you could
22:33have Tanahashi come in for
22:34the tournament leading to
22:36Tanahashi versus Shinsuke
22:38Nakamura at WrestleKingdom
22:41for Tanahashi's retirement
22:42match.
22:43Think about what this would do
22:45for professional wrestling in
22:46terms of opening the real
22:48forbidden door.
22:49Does WWE go to MLW and try
22:51to get Bishop Dyer, formerly
22:53Baron Corbin, to come in and
22:54be a part of the tournament?
22:55I would love that.
22:57No problem with that.
22:57Or Donovan Dijak.
22:58Right now Dijak and Bishop
23:02Dyer being the MLW World
23:04Tag Team Champions.
23:05I would love that.
23:06I think it's a great idea.
23:08And it heals some of the
23:09wounds from a lawsuit they
23:10had between MLW and WWE a
23:11few years ago.
23:12WWE needs to be smart about
23:14this.
23:14They should be cultivating
23:15relationships with everybody
23:16because they are the king of
23:18the mountain.
23:19And they have access to much
23:20more talent if they are
23:21endearing and embracing to
23:23other groups and other
23:24organizations.
23:25I think this is the way to
23:26broker some things between
23:28them and their number one
23:29competitor, AEW, and keep
23:31AEW at bay.
23:33Because it's not just about
23:35Tanahashi.
23:35And on the Tanahashi topic,
23:37the word is, is they still
23:39haven't even chosen the
23:39opponent.
23:40They've narrowed the list down
23:41to like three people and
23:42they're still not sure who it's
23:43going to be.
23:43And Tanahashi actually put a
23:45message out saying, please
23:46wait a little longer.
23:47He says, quote, please wait a
23:48little longer.
23:49I've fought many different
23:50wrestlers in my career.
23:51I will make sure to announce
23:52who I want to face.
23:53I think he wants Nakamura.
23:55I just think it's such a
23:57difficult thing to get over
23:58because these companies don't
23:59speak to each other.
23:59I think they need to just to
24:01make that happen.
24:02But when we look at, you
24:04know, all the other stuff
24:05that's going on, that what
24:07AEW needs to think about in
24:09terms of this negotiation
24:10potentially with WWE is
24:11Warner Brothers Discovery is
24:13definitely going for sale.
24:15They're expecting some kind of
24:16announcement on the status in
24:17December.
24:18And, you know, that's the
24:20broadcast home of AEW.
24:23But if Netflix were to make a
24:25play to purchase them, the
24:26theory would be that their
24:27contract would still be valid.
24:29So now Netflix would have
24:30WWE and AEW on their
24:32programming.
24:33It makes a lot of sense to get
24:35those two talking and in a
24:37working relationship of some
24:38kind.
24:39And that would that would
24:40can you even imagine wrestling
24:42fans have dreamt their whole
24:43life about like all the access
24:46to all the talent being on
24:47major super cards.
24:48Think about that kind of
24:49WrestleMania card, you know,
24:50with the Will Ospreay versus
24:52Seth Rollins matches and
24:53things of that nature.
24:54It would be beautiful.
24:56I think that I mean right now
24:58they're saying that Paramount is
24:59the the leading candidate to
25:00possibly buy Warner Brothers
25:01Discovery.
25:02If I'm Netflix, I make a play.
25:04I really do.
25:05And if they do acquire them,
25:07then you have to have the
25:08conversation about how do we
25:09make these people, these
25:09companies, you know,
25:10negotiator beyond peace,
25:13peaceful terms of sorts,
25:14some way, shape or form.
25:16Last thing I want to get to
25:17tonight is The Undertaker.
25:18And as strange as it may
25:19sound, his backstage role in
25:21AAA, the word is in Lucha
25:25Libre AAA Worldwide.
25:26In recent months, The
25:27Undertaker has pretty much
25:28become the creative force in
25:30that company.
25:31He's the one who wrote
25:33everything for TripleMania,
25:35which was held back on August
25:3616th.
25:37He is the guy who is the he's
25:40they believe that he is more
25:41attuned to what the American
25:43audience is looking for.
25:44And that's why he's taken on
25:46this.
25:46He's both the brand ambassador
25:47and the creative writer for
25:49AAA.
25:49I'm sure he works very closely
25:51with Conan, who has booked
25:53for AAA for a very long time,
25:55getting a feel for, you know,
25:56the different talents and what
25:57the fans typically like and
25:58want to do.
25:59But I think it's a great role
26:00for him.
26:01I just find it so interesting
26:02that Triple H, Shawn Michaels
26:03and The Undertaker basically are
26:05running the entire wrestling
26:06industry right now, with the
26:07exception of Tony Khan, really,
26:08even when it comes to TNA,
26:09because I know Silva is the
26:11president of the company.
26:12But let's be honest, WWE is so
26:14much influence over that
26:14company.
26:15It's ridiculous.
26:15So but we'll have to say, I
26:17don't know.
26:18There's there's a lot going on.
26:19I love seeing The Undertaker
26:20getting involved in some way,
26:21shape or form, giving back to
26:22the industry.
26:23I think it's wonderful.
26:24I think he's a wildly
26:25inventive guy.
26:26I just wish maybe he would
26:28pull back on so many main
26:29roster stars or even NXT stars
26:31going to AAA.
26:33But this past weekend, if
26:34nobody saw it, Chelsea Green
26:36and Ethan Page went down and
26:37won the mixed tag team
26:38championship, I don't like
26:40that.
26:40I really don't.
26:41I don't want to see that.
26:42I want to see AAA wrestlers
26:44win those championships.
26:45I want to keep those belts on
26:47those people so it doesn't look
26:48like WWE is just basically
26:49dissolving AAA because that's
26:51what is the fear of the
26:53Mexican audience.
26:54And they don't want to see
26:55that.
26:55They want to keep something
26:56their own.
26:57And I support that.
26:58So hopefully The Undertaker
26:59finds a way to book that just a
27:00little differently so that the
27:02fans of AAA are able to still
27:06feel that that old school
27:08AAA experience that they've
27:10grown to know and love.
27:11That's all the time we have
