02:25Welcome to this episode of the Fro Wrestling Podcast.

02:40For this episode, we're going to recap some recent news, things we've been talking about
02:44a lot lately, go into predictions for Saturday Night's Main Event and all other pieces in
02:48between.
02:49Let's start with the latest update on Andrade El Idiolo.
02:53The rumor is now is that WWE may use his non-compete clause to kind of force his way back into WWE,
03:00which on the surface to me sounds absolutely ludicrous.
03:03Why fire the guy if you wanted to bring him back in the first place?
03:07Terminated because of wellness policy violations and then he shows up in AEW, he violates whatever
03:13this non-compete clause for a year is and now he's stuck.
03:17He has nothing he can do.
03:18He can't make a living.
03:19It almost gives him no options.
03:21I think he should challenge it in court.
03:22If I'm Tony Khan, I would actually pay that fee.
03:25I would pay a lawyer to fight that in court just to get it out of the way.
03:28Make it so that's no longer a thing.
03:30Get it out of WWE contracts altogether.
03:32And that would make the free agent landscape in the future very interesting.
03:37That being said, PW Insider says in Mexican Lucha Libre circles that WWE could be using
03:44the non-compete clause to push Andrade to return to their company.
03:47I think it's terrible, but I guess getting the pop showing up on AEW and then forcing
03:51him back to WWE might be like a slap in the face to AEW.
03:55I think that's a very bizarre strategy, but in this crazy world of pro wrestling, I guess
03:59anything's possible.
04:00Now, here's the thing for me.
04:01If I'm WWE, I understand we've had longstanding issues with AEW since they launched.
04:05I remember the Monday Night Wars between WWE and WCW.
04:09I don't want that again.
04:10To be perfectly honest with you, I would love to see these companies at some point in the
04:13future, obviously not right this second, but somewhere down the line, find a way to
04:17coexist in a more positive and constructive way, perhaps even co-promoting at some point
04:23the way WWE does with TNA.
04:25I would love that, but we're never going to see it if we keep having this tit for tat situation.
04:29So if this is one of those things where they're trying to use this as a bargaining tool
04:32to capitalize on his appearance at AEW and then force him back to the company,
04:36bad idea.
04:37Moving on to the next report, talking about the situation with Braun Breaker and Bronson
04:41Reed, why they weren't in the battle royal to crown the number one contender for the
04:45World Heavyweight Championship for Saturday Night's main event.
04:48And the word right now going around is that they were afraid, WWE officials were afraid
04:52that they would get a babyface reaction despite the way that they turned on Seth, that they
04:56would be cheered because of the way Seth has been portrayed recently.
04:59Russell Vose is reporting WWE was the ones who were concerned that Braun and Bronson will
05:03receive babyface reactions instead of getting booed as they joined forces with Paul Heyman.
05:07And just my opinion, you could agree, disagree, feel free to put it in the comments.
05:12But to me, if the fans want to boo, let them boo.
05:14If they want to cheer, let them cheer.
05:16Go organically with what the fans want.
05:18If they do that and they come out and they win the battle royal or whatever it is you want
05:21to do with them and the fans love it, great.
05:23You created a new megastar.
05:25If you need to turn somebody else heel or whatever you got to do, it's a good problem to have.
05:29Instead, what you've done is people haven't seen Bronson enough lately because of this.
05:35Braun Breaker, great.
05:36He gets a glorified squash match with LA Knight, which I don't think is great for Knight's
05:40character.
05:40I've hated what they've done with him for quite a while now.
05:42But at the same time, it's putting him in a holding pattern with Bronson and it's going
05:47to lead into what we're going to talk about a little bit later.
05:49But it's really frustrating that they are not involved with Saturday Night's Main Event
05:52in some way, shape or form.
05:54Let's get into Saturday Night's Main Event because I think they will be.
05:57Let's go through the card real quick.
05:58Let's start with the Intercontinental Championship opportunity for both Dominic Mysterio to defend
06:05against Penta and Rusev, triple threat match.
06:08I think there is no chance that Dominic loses the championship here.
06:11He has to keep that championship for something we're going to talk about later.
06:14So I think Dom wins the match.
06:15I think he's going to cheat to win.
06:17I think why not?
06:18That or he'll pick up like somebody will hit their finishing move and he'll throw them
06:21out of the ring and steal the pin, which isn't cheating.
06:23But I would love to see that because it's kind of cheating, but not.
06:25I love that.
06:26I don't want to see, you know, El Grande Americano and his goons out there again.
06:30I think that's been done to death.
06:32It's kind of getting boring at this point.
06:33But their official prediction I have is Mysterio wins.
06:36Moving into the women's championship match, WWE Women's Championship, Tiffany Stratton
06:40versus Jade Cargill.
06:41Look, Stratton's had that championship for an extremely long time in the modern WWE era.
06:47People like Roman Reigns maybe keep their championships forever, but most people don't.
06:50I think this is a good time to flip it to Jade Cargill.
06:52Otherwise, why did you make her a heel in the first place with the turn on SmackDown?
06:56My prediction is Jade Cargill wins the women's championship, not just because they want to
07:00put it on her.
07:01According to Dave Meltzer, they wanted to put it on her since before she got injured last
07:04year ahead of WrestleMania.
07:05But more importantly, at some point, Bianca Belair is coming back and we need something
07:09for the two of them to finally feud over.
07:11And this championship could be the thing.
07:12So I think this is going to be the way to set Jade up for a program of Belair once she
07:16comes back.
07:18The big one, CM Punk, Jey Uso, singles match for the vacant World Heavyweight Championship.
07:24And this is my thing.
07:26To me, there is no way there's a clean winner in this match.
07:29I think Bronson and Bron Breaker appear and they attack both men, you know, take it so
07:34that the match is a schmazz ending, no contest.
07:37I don't know where you go from there, but we need to have a world champion at some point.
07:40And I think they're actually thinking about putting that onto Bronson Breaker.
07:44I've said in the last episode, I really think they need to change Bronson Breaker's name
07:48to just Bronson Steiner or something.
07:50So it's not such a ludicrous name.
07:52And you can look at that name in the history books as being a legitimate reason to be a
07:57world champion.
07:58I don't like Bronson Breaker.
07:59I think it just sounds too generic and cartoonish.
08:01I would love to see that.
08:02They're not going to do it, but whatever.
08:03But I do think that this is going to be a schmazz ending leading to Bronson and Bronzer coming
08:06out and doing something to screw the whole thing up.
08:09And we still won't have a world heavyweight champion.
08:11And then the last match of the night, Cody Rhodes defending the WWE Championship against
08:15Drew McIntyre.
08:16There's people questioning whether this is where Cody goes heel.
08:20Will that lead to a Cody heel facing a babyface Randy Orton later on at Mania possibly?
08:26Does he lose the championship here to Drew?
08:29I really don't know how to feel about this one because for me personally, I would actually
08:34give the championship to Drew McIntyre.
08:35I think he's earned that.
08:37I really do.
08:37And if you don't give it to him here, when are you going to?
08:39And at some point, he really should have a world championship run.
08:42And I mean a substantial one for everything he's done for the company in the last couple
08:46of years.
08:46However, that being said, I predict Cody Rhodes will retain the championship here.
08:50I don't think this is where we turn the title.
08:53So my prediction is Cody Rhodes wins the championship match and moves on.
08:57Now, that being said, going back to the Intercontinental Championship, I said that Dominic needed
09:01to keep that championship because word is, is there's a possibility that the plan for the end
09:06of John Cena's tenure in WWE will be for him to win the Intercontinental Championship from
09:11Rey Mysterio, or from Dominic Mysterio, which I love that idea.
09:14Make him a Grand Slam champion.
09:15I think that would be a great way for him to go out.
09:17It's not changing the number of world championships he has, but he does get some prestige to his
09:21last match.
09:22I think he would be the perfect guy to beat Dominic Mysterio after as long as Dominic has
09:27held that Intercontinental Championship.
09:28And then you move on further down the road where Gunther will win the tournament to face
09:33John Cena as his final opponent for the Intercontinental Championship, and Gunther can win the
09:37Intercontinental Championship from John Cena in his last match for WWE.
09:40I think it makes a ton of sense.
09:42And with that being said, that feeds into the next part of the conversation, which is the
09:45vignettes that have been airing on Raw.
09:48It turns out that they are WrestleMania 42 promo videos.
09:51So many people were disappointed.
09:53They were pulling for a new faction, a new version of the vision, whatever it is.
09:56But at this point, it's got Triple H.
09:58It's got Cody Rhodes, Roman Reigns, CM Punk, Brock Lesnar, Paul Heyman.
10:03It's all about Vegas.
10:04There's some poker chips and things that get thrown out there.
10:07That's what it is.
10:08It is a promo for WrestleMania.
10:11The fact that we have that lends into what I think is very exciting.
10:17The fact that we know that Brock Lesnar is going to be a part of WrestleMania, and then
10:21you think about, well, what will he do there?
10:23Now, there's some people who think that that's going to be where Braun Breaker and Brock Lesnar
10:26face off.
10:27I don't think you're going to do that at Mania, because I think what we really want to see
10:30at Mania, and what's being talked about, at least in some circles, is that this may
10:35be the opportunity for Brock Lesnar to face off against Gunther for the Intercontinental
10:40Championship at WrestleMania.
10:43Fightful is reporting that Lesnar has been flown in to film his part, that Gunther is the
10:48top choice to face Lesnar at Mania.
10:50I think it's a great idea.
10:51We all wanted to see it to begin with.
10:53You could do the Braun and Brock thing later.
10:55You could do it beforehand.
10:56I don't really care which way you do it, but I think the vignettes, as much as a letdown
11:01as they are, there's some excitement there because it means you now know who some of
11:04the major players are going to be at WrestleMania, and you know they're going to build programs
11:06around those guys, including Brock Lesnar.
11:09Got to address a couple more things tonight.
11:12One, Nikki Bella teaming up with Stephanie Vecure to take on Roxanne Perez and, oh gosh, Raquel
11:20Rodriguez next week.
11:21I have no problem with the match.
11:23I have a problem with Nikki Bella taking the clean pinfall loss to Roxanne Perez on Raw if
11:27you're going to go ahead and do this anyways.
11:29This should have been a smaz ending.
11:30Nobody takes a clean loss, and then you have the tag team match down the line.
11:34That would make more sense to me, which will eventually lead to Nikki Bella's heel turn.
11:38I don't like her taking a clean pin because then you're going to put her in a position
11:41to face the world champion, and that puts a weak opponent against the world champion.
11:45I would have rather seen this go a little differently, but that is the word that now that they're
11:48going to face off and have this tag team match, it is what it is.
11:52It's a new match.
11:53It's a fresh match.
11:54It gives Judgment Day something to do.
11:55It does something to set up the Nikki Bella switch, but just not loving the whole plan of
12:02the whole thing.
12:02So we'll have to wait and see how things turn out.
12:04I spoke earlier about how things could change if somebody would do a lawsuit on the Andrade
12:09Ideolo thing.
12:12TNA Wrestling needs to listen up about when it comes to free agents because word breaks
12:16yesterday that there is yet another TNA contract expiring.
12:19So we've already heard about Mustafa Ali, the Rascals, the Hardys, the Iconics.
12:26Now Steve Macklin, the current international champion, his contract also running at his running
12:32out in December 25, the other is early 26.
12:35We also know Joe Hendry's contract is coming due.
12:38It's too many stars at the same time for a company that doesn't have their media rights
12:42deal put together yet.
12:43Maybe they're waiting until that deal comes through to start signing people.
12:46But if you wait too long, these people are going to be free agents.
12:48They're going to be able to seek vocation elsewhere.
12:51And AEW and WWE should be chomping at the bit to grab some of these talents.
12:54I think it would be behoove them to do so and maybe start planning for that now.
12:58Unless they're trying to shed salary for a WWE purchase or takeover, which is another
13:02conversation that has come up in the past.
13:04Maybe that's why they're not renegotiating all these contracts is to wait for WWE to
13:08make the purchase go through at the end of the year after they get a media rights deal,
13:12increasing the value of the company and WWE can assign whoever they want to sign.
13:16The last thing for tonight, this one kind of hits me, hits me hard.
13:19And when I was a child watching wrestling for the first time, one of my favorite tag teams
13:24was the U.S. Express over his career, Mike Rotunda teamed with Barry Windham.
13:29They were the WWF tag team champions in the first WrestleMania, losing the championships
13:33to the Sheik and Volkoff.
13:35They later would regain them to only go on to lose them to the dream team, Greg Valentine
13:39and Bruce Beefcake.
13:40I always loved the tag team.
13:42Then they move out of the territory.
13:44They go to WCW.
13:45Barry Windham goes off and does his horseman thing.
13:47Mike Rotunda ends up forming a tag team with Dr. Death's Steve Williams and has Kevin Sullivan
13:55as their master.
13:55They are the varsity club and they have great feuds with the Road Warriors.
14:00He eventually comes back to WWE.
14:03He was Captain Mike Rotunda for a hot minute.
14:05It didn't really matter.
14:06He was VK Wall Street, which was another gimmick that really didn't work for me.
14:10But then when he came back to WWE, he teams with Ted DiBiase in what could be the most meaningful
14:14part of his career and powerful stuff as a tag team, Money Incorporated as IRS Irwin
14:19R. Shyster.
14:20Well, the word came out today both from Barry Windham and also from Leilani Kai posting a
14:25photo of herself hugging Mike Rotunda online saying that he has been moved to hospice care.
14:31There's no word as to what caused him to be moved into hospice care.
14:35The picture that she posted is from several months ago.
14:38Barry Windham was doing an interview with Bill Apter a few hours prior where he talked about
14:43Rotunda's health in the interview.
14:44It's been reported by several outlets at this point.
14:47He was a 26-year veteran.
14:49And I'm telling you, this guy was like poetry in motion, great quality, like genuine amateur
14:53wrestling style, like real, you know, catch-as-catch-can wrestler style.
14:58And I always appreciated his contribution to the business.
15:00And for me, sad news, prayers and everything out to the family, to Mike Rotunda, you know,
15:05just a class act, great guy.
15:06If you ever got a chance to meet him throughout his career, he was always willing to take time
15:10for the fans.
15:10And he's a part of what a lot of people don't realize is one of the most beautiful dynastic
15:15families in the wrestling business between Blackjack Mulligan, Barry Windham, Kendall
15:19Windham, Mike Rotunda, and then the intermarrying of their two families, creating Bray Wyatt,
15:25Bo Dallas, and several other family members who knows where they're going to be at some
15:29point in the wrestling industry.
15:31But just sad news today hearing that he's going into hospice care.
15:34And like I said, our prayers go out to he and the family.
