A family of four is tonight pleading for help to repair their dilapidated home.

The house was already in a poor condition, but high winds on Thursday led to the partial destruction of its roof.

Our reporter Cindy Raghubar-Teekersingh visited the Golconda Settlement, San Fernando, family today and tells us more.

00:00For 34 years, 48-year-old Cindy Buchan has lived in this house along Golconda Settlement,
00:08Golconda. And for some time now, its condition has significantly deteriorated.
00:22Buchan, a housewife, says her husband is a mason and doesn't have the financial resources to make
00:28their home safer. She says when high winds on Thursday made their situation worse, all she
00:34could do was stay in the tilted, unsteady structure, which she shares with her husband, daughter and
00:40granddaughter.
00:41The breeze blew hard, and the house had a shake, and the governor just flout. I was washing
00:47clothes. When I got upstairs, everybody, I see the governor shout and he was gone and he
00:52went up.
00:54When you all sleep last night?
00:56You sleep this side, this side, the budget still dry this side. The next side, the next
01:00half day, he went up.
01:03At the home today, members of the Disaster Management Unit of the Pinal-Debe Regional Corporation
01:09responded to deliver food relief atapolin and mattresses. Chairman Gautam Maharaj says they
01:16are working with the Ministry of Social Development to try to get them into a three-month rental
01:21arrangement, while further assistance towards a long-term improved living arrangement can
01:27be found.
01:27Upon investigation, it requires more support than rectifying the blown roof situation. As you
01:34can see, the house is definitely structurally deficient, and we will need to support this
01:41family getting back on their feet.
01:43Meanwhile, Ms. Butchun says they would welcome any support from members of the public to rebuild
