00:00For some, it was smooth sailing.
00:11While for others, not so much.
00:18But one fall wasn't going to be decisive as mountain bike enthusiasts challenged
00:22themselves over five stages of the enduro championship in Annarsville, Tobago.
00:26The May MTB Madness Enduro Multi-Stage Event was the final day, but started on Friday with
00:34other events catering to riders in the Junior, Elite Under-23 and Masters Categories.
00:40The event keeps growing with at least nine nationalities represented and is exactly what
00:45race director Iman Healy Singh had hoped to achieve. But as he explained, this could mean
00:50much more than just mountain biking for Tobago.
00:53I began my biking when I was in Huey and I came here, I was riding alone on these hills. And I said,
01:00boy, one day I should do a race here. It took me a long time, but I finally did it. This is the
01:05eighth event and it's got more than 200 people in it because of how beautiful the landscape
01:11of Tobago is and how people are really enthused by coming here to ride.
01:18While he wants to see the event continue to grow and command more sponsorship, he revealed the deeper
01:23purpose to his efforts.
01:24We are a movement. This is not just about riding bikes. We are trying to lift the people
01:31up and be positive at a high vibration. Go out into the nature. Ride your bikes. Don't get tangled
01:38up on the screen time. That's my message to the kids. The kids are unable to function socially.
01:46They need to get out there into the into the nature and ride. Be healthy.
