00:00So we're hoping that these things don't happen in Tobago and the enforcement look at it properly and do the definite inspection and to ensure that we're not part of that.
00:13As in Tobago, tourism is our lifeline. And they can imagine we're having special operations zones in Tobago. That wouldn't work as well for the tourists.
00:24Meanwhile, Mr. Williams says Monday's swearing in of secretaries and assistant secretaries of the Tobago House of Assembly underscores the need for increased scrutiny of the Assembly, particularly in the absence of an opposition.
00:39We have to keep a close eye on what's happening in the TT. We civil society, NGOs, the media will definitely have to pay close attention on what's happening in the House. The TT now will be held to a higher standard.
00:53According to Mr. Williams, scrutiny, transparency, accountability and effective delivery will be critical throughout the four-year term of the Assembly.
01:04He also commended the Tobago House of Assembly for efforts to improve the timeliness of payments to contractors, noting the increased use of the Automatic Clearinghouse, or ACH, electronic payment system.
01:20Payments to suppliers, payment to service providers, those are the things that know they're going to be an electronic payment. Now we look forward to that ACH, instead of checks, and they're looking for a bill, and they're looking for this. So those are things that are great initiatives. And we, again, the delivery is what we will be judging the TH here.
