00:00We heard the unfortunate news that as of right now, the drug and gas deal is dead.
00:07And it is so unfortunate that for us, we live in a part of the world where others,
00:15other countries bigger than we are, can actually determine our prosperity and our future.
00:22Mr. Augustin speaking during a TPP meeting in Plymouth on Tuesday night,
00:28said small island states remain at a disadvantage.
00:32And that another country being sovereign and separate and independent from us
00:39can determine whether or not we can enter into an arrangement with another neighboring country.
00:46But whether we like it or not, that's just the way the world swings.
00:52In Tobago, we say, donkey said, it will not level.
00:54And certainly in the world we live in, small island territories like Trinidad and Tobago
01:00are at the mercies of the metropolitan countries up north.
01:05Augustin said the next five years is most critical for all political parties in the country.
01:11He blamed the poor management of the PNM for the country's present circumstance.
01:16Because the next five years, we have to get all of our sums correct.
01:23The maths must maths for the next five years.
01:27Because we are at the brink whereby we had a PNM government,
01:33through to poor management, poor fiscal management, poor social infrastructure and investment,
01:41has left us at the mercy of what is happening in the global space.
01:48Meantime, PNM Tobago Council political leader Ansel Dennis,
01:52speaking during a PNM political meeting in Kastara,
01:55said now is not the time to leave the responsible leadership of the PNM.
02:01This has nothing to do with any failure on the part of any government.
02:08A previous U.S. government agreed with it.
02:11The new one decided that they want to change the mind.
02:14And they pulled back the license.
02:16So that simply means that we have to look for alternatives.
02:21And I want to give the people of Tobago the assurance,
02:24and the people of this country by extension,
02:28that this time right here, this unpredictable time,
02:34this volatile time, this serious time,
02:38requires ready and responsible leadership.
