00:00But the parliament have their agenda. The parliament's agenda is the national agenda,
00:06which is the national parliament. And what are the issues engaging the attention of the
00:10parliament? Crime, etc. So who is taking care of Tobago's issues? We must be in a position
00:19to take care of our own issues.
00:22Senator and PNM Tobago Council political leader Ansel Dennis, as he spoke during a PNM Town
00:29Hall meeting on Saturday. Meantime, Tobago West MP Gianfranco Lewis says if the autonomy
00:36bill is not supported, Tobago could end up in a situation similar to the now lost Sandals
00:43Project.
00:44And I see like a Sandals situation trying to repeat itself. We want better, but we don't
00:51want better from them. And there is this posturing in many places in Tobago where we
01:00want, we would take anything from the others. But the PNM, we don't want no good for them.
01:09We don't want no good from them.
01:11As for changes made to the draft document sent from Tobago to the parliament.
01:16I hear many people saying, well, why, what is before the parliament now doesn't, isn't
01:26the same, exact same thing as what was sent to joint select committee. It cannot be. Because
01:33you sent it to joint select committee for us to do further research, for us to draft
01:39it in proper legal terms, for us to consult experts and be guided by the legal experts
01:47to develop it into proper legislation.
01:52The PNM held a people's caravan on Sunday, starting from the Stour Bay Beach facility
01:58to Tobago East, speaking on the Tobago autonomy issue. Elizabeth Williams, TV6 News.
