00:00Is it your intention, any point in time, to offer your resignation in light of the PNM losing in Tobago?
00:11Absolutely not. This election was a national election, right?
00:19And the leader of the party in Tobago does not normally take responsibility for a national election defeat,
00:28especially in circumstances where the party lost nationally.
00:33Mr. Dennis told TV6 News the data has been evaluated and if this were a THA election, the result would have favoured the PNM.
00:43So I am aware of people having that view and having that opinion and they are free to have that.
00:49But I will simply say to you that following the results of this election, I have evaluated the data and the data shows that we would have won some seats if this was a THA election.
01:10And that shows that the TPP from 2021 to now has lost ground.
01:19We in the PNM, again, the data shows that we would have gained some seats and that to me is a positive signal.
01:27Mr. Dennis said he is aware of people having their agendas, but at this time the PNM is guided by the constitution.
01:35The next opportunity for the leadership in Tobago to be decided is in April 2026.
01:43And what I can promise to the members of the party in Tobago, that that will be the day.
01:49It will be no later than that.
01:52Okay.
01:54All right. And you're standing by that?
01:58Yes, I am standing by that.
02:00So you are free to make the mission.
02:02This is the second recent loss for the PNM while Dennis heads the council.
02:07As in 2021, the PNM lost the THA.
02:11And on Monday, the PNM lost the Tobago East and West seats to the Tobago People's Party, TPP, led by leader Farley-Augustin.
02:21There have been rumblings from within calling for Dennis to step down.
02:25Elizabeth Williams, TV6 News.
