The Sanatan Dharma Maha Sabha has called on the police to act, following the circulation of videos taken at several religious sites by a man who according to the SDMS, incited hate and violence.

00:00The Sonata and Dharma Mahasabha is calling on the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service
00:05to take immediate and decisive action following the circulation of a series of videos on social
00:12media produced by an individual mocking those of the Hindu faith.
00:17The man posted several videos at the Monroe Road Mosque trampling on the carpet and attempted
00:23to enter the Cathedral of Immaculate Conception but was locked out by security.
00:28The SDMS condemned the videos, noting they contained deeply offensive and derogatory
00:34remarks aimed at the deities and beliefs of Hinduism, as well as other religious faiths,
00:41including Islam and Christianity.
00:43The Mahasabha says the videos have the potential to incite division and hostility among communities,
00:50adding quote,
00:51The aggressive and inflammatory nature of this content is alarming and cannot be ignored."
00:58Vijay Maharaj, Secretary General of the SDMS, says authorities must investigate this matter
01:03thoroughly and hold the individual accountable for promoting hate speech and inciting animosity
01:10among different religious groups.
01:13It called upon all members of the community to remain vigilant and to report any instances
01:18of religious hatred or discrimination.
01:21Meanwhile, the MP for Shiguanas, Dinesh Rambali, advised the Sanatan Dharma Mahasabha and the
01:27National Council of Indian Culture, on whose compound one video was taken, to make a police
01:33report and initiate any subsequent action available, including private prosecution.
