00:02We want we money, right now.
00:04We want we money, right now.
00:06God, I will go.
00:08God, I will go.
00:11God, I will go.
00:13For many retired workers of MTS,
00:17this was supposed to be a time of peace and financial security.
00:21Instead, several retirees say they are facing uncertainty
00:24as they wait on outstanding payments they believe are long overdue.
00:29We have a lot of retirees who are suffering.
00:33I am here only because of the separation to these, to my colleagues.
00:38They are dying.
00:40There's one worker who came to me while I was working
00:46and said, oh, God, Ms. Worf, I wouldn't see my money.
00:52I have to take operation.
00:54And in two weeks' time, he was unalive.
01:00Retirees say the delays have affected their ability to cover everyday expenses,
01:04including groceries, medication, and household bills.
01:08They also claim communication from the company has been limited,
01:12leaving many frustrated and searching for answers.
01:14The last time we were supposed to meet with them
01:19was the 17th of April.
01:23And that came and canceled.
01:25We had people from Tebevo who was here.
01:28And because of that, I think it wasn't the last time.
01:31You know, we decided.
01:33After that, it was just a thanks.
01:35Another MTS retiree says she has been waiting two years
01:39to receive her gratuity payment.
01:41We signed an agreement 30 days after retirement.
01:45We're supposed to get our gratuity.
01:47This month is two years I am home, right, and nothing.
01:51Every time you come, no money.
01:53I go so far, I tell them, I say, time to change that music.
01:56It's ticking.
01:57One retiree also reflected on the risk he faced
02:00during his years of service with MTS.
02:02I worked 32 years plus, over close to 30 years with firearms.
02:09All the dangerous places I was.
02:11URP, go right back to see lots.
02:12URP, you're more time I rest my life.
02:15You only have me guarding people who can shoot in hospital.
02:18Another retiree is now calling for legislative action
02:21to protect future workers from facing similar hardships.
02:25What I'm suggesting to the people in power,
02:29maybe the parliament or the senate,
02:30if they could get some kind of legislation done
02:35to prevent future retirees from going through this struggle.
02:40So implement some kind of law or something
02:42so people, when they retire, they could get their money.
02:46TV6 attempted to contact MTS management for comment,
02:49but the company declined to speak with the media.
02:52Charlotte Histo, TV6 News.
