00:00Hindu processions with devotees in saffron colored attire and clay effigies
00:06of the Hindu deity Ganesha mark the end of an 11-day observance called Ganesh
00:12Chaturthi or Ganesh Utsav. Ganesh Utsav is a celebration which commenced in the
00:22small villages of India many many years ago as long as back as we can think of.
00:32The observance passed down through indentureship involves devotees going to
00:37rivers collecting material which they use to shape into a murti. It is a
00:43celebration where we worship the clay murti of Sri Ganesha the remover of
00:50obstacles and the one who gives us success, growth and prosperity. The effigy
00:57is painted and decorated. When the child is born and as it moves along to that
01:04point of death so many decorations and everything else is placed into the
01:11child's life just the same way as the Ganesh Utsav celebration. It is
01:17worshipped over the course of 11 days before it's taken back to the river and
01:22submerged. If we look at it very closely we would see that Ganesh Utsav is the
01:29journey of life. The journey of life your life my life and all life. Life
01:37commenced in that pool of water within the mother's womb and then again it ends
01:47and submerged back into the river or the ocean at the time of death. It is
01:55also believed that the root chakra the muladhara is a subtle abode of the Hindu
02:01deity. Oh he's at that gateway telling to us hey listen your time is limited and
02:10you are limited by time and space so it means you have limited time to live
02:16yourself. It's a journey of life your life.
