00:00Distance runner Anika Bailey has a date with destiny. Come 2025 she will be
00:04chasing gold medals at the Carifta Games on home soil. She was denied such in
00:092024 in Grenada by finishing fourth in the girls under 17 1500 meters. This time
00:14she's filling in the missing pieces and wants to train harder, eat great, stay
00:22hydrated, to core, sleep well. And that's not all she has big hopes for the half
00:30marathon. My objective for 2025 is to get two gold medals in my two events I'm
00:35doing and to be the first youngest female to win the half marathon next year. Bailey began
00:46running at the age of eight years old and since joining club one a week she's
00:50gone on to run some impressive times including a personal best time of 18
00:54minutes 36 seconds in the 5k and she's hoping to do better than that in the
00:59coming year. In it for the long haul Bailey is cautious about overworking
01:17herself and does not worry about her competition. My parents always tell me
01:21don't overwork myself or don't think about it too much because you'll feel
01:26stressed out and anxious so no I don't I'll just talk to them and prepare
01:32myself like that. So apart from running races Bailey might surprise you but it's
01:43not her singing her competitors will want to worry about as she aims to break
01:47the tape for 2025.
