00:00Trinidad and Tobago's Red Force Divas have been making the necessary preparations for the upcoming T20 Blaze and Regional Super 50 Cup in St. Vincent.
00:10Part of the side is new kid on the block, Shriya Jairam, who's just 15.
00:15And how did she get into cricket and what does being selected mean to her?
00:19So it started with really my parents and my brother. My brother and I started a camp at pretty young and my parents were always into cricket.
00:26So they passed on their love for cricket on to us.
00:29Well I'm very elated. I mean a lot of emotions going into the tournament but mostly excitement.
00:34I know my parents are very proud and they're very happy for me going into this tournament.
00:38Should she make the final 11, the teenager says she will just go over the floor to avoid putting pressure on herself.
00:45But at the same time she does have some goals.
00:48But my main goals are to keep consistent, get some wickets and do my best.
00:52Why leg spin?
00:54Well my dad started me off with leg spin and I just fell in love with it.
00:58While young Shriya's main focus is bowling, she's also working on her batting.
01:03Like many youngsters, she too idolises some of the international players and watches their videos.
01:09I really enjoy watching Shane Warne, Rashid Khan and Alana King bowl. Those are my top three favourites.
01:16Red Force Divas coach Marissa Aguilera is delighted to have the leg break bowler on board.
01:21The former Westernies keeper batter was amazed with Jerram's ability when they first met.
01:26They introduced me to Tria, I think it was last year, preparation before we left for the tournament.
01:31And I saw this with a young girl coming up and they told me here what I need to have a look at her.
01:36And I said okay no problem, come in bowl a couple of balls to me.
01:39And you know when I saw her, I saw talent, I said that this player, she's going to be great.
01:44You know and she's here with us and I'm really excited and I'm expecting her to do really good things in the tournament coming up.
01:49Aguilera is pleased that the Naprima girls high school student has fit in quite well with the team and technical staff.
01:56Added to that, the coach has good things to say regarding Jerram's personality.
02:01She's blooming with confidence, right, and that's one of the things that we have been trying to ensure that we instill within the players
02:07and doing the importance of confidence and she's one person I can see.
02:11Every time she steps out, she's confident, you know, she's the tough cookie.
02:15She's someone that anytime a ball hits her, she's getting up, she's going again.
02:19And you know, it shows that, you know, she has a long way and I'm looking forward to seeing her into bigger things.
02:24The journey has now started for young Shriya, whose dream is to one day play for the West Indies.
