We need to find the next batch of Narine, Bravo and Simmons.

The words of Trinbago Knight Riders captain Kieron Pollard as he spoke on the young players coming through the CPL.

The skipper identified a few names for the future and pointed out a rule that needs changing.

00:00Despite TKR going into battle against the Barbados Royals tonight, Captain Pollard has
00:05an eye on the future of both West Indies and TNT cricket.
00:09The big hitting all-rounder had praise for TKR scouts and all involved in finding a talent
00:14such as Barbadian opener Shaqiri Parris.
00:16When you talk about his scores in Barbados, but not only Barbados, he played here in Trinidad
00:21as well for Victoria in the concluded local season as well.
00:27So again it's something that as a team we had looked at in terms of scouting and he
00:32coming onto the scene and getting an opportunity most of all, obviously they have to play five
00:36games and having a conversation and talking about just not playing because you have to
00:41play but giving us an opportunity to select you as a normal player when that time comes
00:45is exactly what he has done as an individual.
00:48So kudos must go to him as well, taking up the baton, the mantle to show that this is
00:52what I'm made of.
00:54With some of the West Indies stars nearing the end of their playing careers, Pollard
00:58pointed out the importance of the under-23 system.
01:01This under-23 is made for local guys and persons to get the opportunity to fly the flag.
01:08So for Paris and Nathan Edwards, they have shown us what they can do and hopefully in
01:15the future we can have more of those talents coming through because we need the next batches
01:21of the Dwayne Bravos, the Sulana Rynes, the Kieran Pollard, the Lendl Simmons and all
01:24these personals, the Ramdins from Trinidad as well.
01:27So a lot of work to be done.
01:29Another young player Pollard spoke highly of is TNT born but St Lucia Kings bowler Mikel
01:34Govia.
01:35Mikel, he's a talent, you've seen him, he's been in Queen's Park now, he's playing
01:39for Central Sports, he's been butting heads with a lot of our local icons, the Simmons
01:45and the Emirates and they tongue in Central Sports.
01:49Nathan, again as you know, we have a very, very good relationship so I know what he can
01:53do as an individual once he stays on the right track and obviously he cut my innings short
01:57for not in the last game but when you look at it, you've gotten a couple of opportunities
02:02where the first game didn't go too well for him but he did well when they played him
02:05in Guyana and a couple of other games so long may that continue for him.
02:08The sky is going to be the limit but you have to continue to work hard.
02:11The TNT captain admitted Govia is someone they had interest in selecting but were restricted
02:16due to an anomaly in the CPL rules.
02:19When you go back to the rules, obviously Mikel is under 23 but he was not in the list of
02:24under 23 players for us to select him so he had to be selected by another franchise so
02:29they selected him as a normal player whereas if he was in that list, we could have gotten
02:33him as well because you talk about the talent that he has so that's something in the rules
02:37that needs to be fixed as well because if you're under 23, you should be in that list.
02:42Terence Clark, TV6 Sport.
