00:00Hello, how are you? My name is Miquela. I love my team. It's my everything, football. Trinidad and Tobago is a beautiful country.
00:17For Miquela Yearwood, language is a passion, but the language of football is where her true passion lies.
00:23Honestly, I've been playing football since I could remember, since I was born. My whole family plays football. My grandfather, my mother's side is a referee.
00:31My mother used to play football while she was pregnant with me. From birth, I used to play football. And also, I love Barca. My parents are Barcelona fans.
00:42I grew up watching Barca and saying, I want to be like that one day.
00:46The St. Joseph Convent student plays midfield and defense and speaks about her experience in the national team.
00:52My coaches, they're lovely. They always encourage us to have flair and creativity in the final third of the game, but play it simple.
01:00So I think I like that physiology in the football and also my teammates. I have some lovely teammates. We have a lot of fun in training and I grew up here. I was here since I was 12.
01:10Although she's having fun, Miquela also has a sense of responsibility and understanding of the bigger picture.
01:16Well, our coach always says, when we play, remember the one thing. What can you do to change the way people think about women's football?
01:24And honestly, we want to make this World Cup qualifiers to show that not just Trinidad and Tobago is here, but the women are here and we are here to stay.
01:34And being multilingual means there's something extra Miquela Yewur can add on the field of play.
01:39Yeah, I hope to encounter some Spanish, French, Korean, I think Korean for women, Korean referees so I can give a little bit of a show and yeah, especially help my teammates.
01:50When we play Spanish teams and French teams, I always try to see if I can understand what they're saying, maybe get a little bit on me.
01:57Terence Clark, TV6 Sport.
