Two men have been held in connection with the robbery of Minister of Health Terrence Deyalsingh. Police sources confirmed that the suspects were held this morning by officers of the Port of Spain Division as well as the Inter- Agency Task Force led by Senior Superintendent Maharaj and Superintendent Spence.

00:00The officers, acting on intelligence received following the armed robbery perpetrated against
00:06Health Minister D. Al Singh in St. Joseph, made their way on Tuesday night to St. Paul
00:11Street in Port of Spain, where they intercepted a blue Hyundai Elantra which matched the description
00:17of the getaway car.
00:19Two men were in the vehicle at the time.
00:22The suspects were detained and questioned.
00:25They have since been handed over to officers of the St. Joseph Police Station.
00:30Police could not confirm if the gold Bira which was stolen had been retrieved.

00:39The incident originally took place around 5pm on Tuesday outside a bar located at the
00:45corner of Abercrombie and King Streets in St. Joseph, near D. Al Singh's constituency
00:51office.
00:52Two bandits, one of whom pointed a gun at D. Al Singh's head, robbed him of his gold
00:58bracelet.
00:59A video was later taken of him speaking to someone on his cellular phone about what happened
01:05and this clip was posted to social media.
01:35Deputy Commissioner of Police Suzette Martin said that the police service strongly condemned
01:45the incident and gave an assurance that they would be doing all in their power to find
01:51those responsible.
02:05And while she confirmed that several persons are being interviewed at the moment, she also
02:10called on any other individuals who may have had a role to play to surrender to law enforcement.
02:33She also noted that crimes of violence, especially those involving the use of firearms, will
02:39not be tolerated in this country.
