00:00Officers have complained to TV6 about conditions at the Diego Martin Municipal Police post.
00:05According to them, among the problems were mould growth in several areas, including on some air conditioning units.
00:11No showerhead in the female bathroom, they use a water spout from a pipe lodged in the wall.
00:17Pigeons were seen in the ceiling of the building, and the roof was recently sealed,
00:21but no attempt was made to remove the pigeon droppings, which has caused an unbearable stench.
00:26The central AC unit remains off for fear of it circulating the droppings.
00:31The officers said only recently, following years of repeated requests and appeals for adequate lighting,
00:37that situation was finally rectified.
00:39They pointed out that the station has experienced recurring electrical issues
00:43due to overloaded electrical panels and an outdated wiring system.
00:47The officers also complained that the station's telephone is presently non-functional,
00:52and the internet service is repeatedly disconnected due to outstanding payments.
00:57Essential operational equipment, particularly vehicles, remain a major concern.
01:02At present, the station has only two working vehicles.
01:05The officers told TV6 that on Tuesday, 27th October 2026,
01:10a large quantity of tyres and an old container were impounded and placed on the station compound.
01:15The items were inadequately covered, resulting in water accumulating in the tyres
01:20and creating a breeding ground for mosquitoes and rodents.
01:23The officers say that despite these challenges, they continue to turn up for work and carry out their duties.
01:30TV6 understands that an OSH inspection was conducted in December last year,
01:34with the findings presented to former Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of Municipal Police,
01:39Surendra Sagram Singh.
01:41However, nothing has been done about these issues.
01:43TV6 tried contacting the officer in charge of Municipal Police, ACP Wayne Meister.
01:48However, up to news time, we were unable to reach him.
