00:00Benjamin, during a press briefing today, says he has already met with two agencies
00:04of law enforcement, the Municipal Police and the Transit Police, and intends to meet with
00:09several more over the coming days.
00:14He says that his first week in office has been one of putting infrastructure in place
00:19for operations, and he was humbled by the public's support.
00:23To that end, he said he would be visiting Tobago very shortly and speaking to law enforcement
00:29on the sister island.
00:31He also said that he hoped to speak with the Chief Secretary of the Tobago House of Assembly,
00:35Farley Augustin, as well as personnel from the Tobago Chamber of Commerce.
00:41He also reiterated his calls for the public to work with the TTPS in the fight against
00:46crime.
00:48He said that the TTPS would be going after gang elements in all forms, even those that
00:53operate within state institutions and public
00:59And therefore, this will be an ongoing exercise where I will be meeting with other chambers
01:19as well, and creating and at least having that open door policy to hear their concerns
01:25and to see how we can work together.
01:34I look forward for a wonderful time being the Commissioner of Police for all.
01:40And therefore, as we continue to work together, crime is everybody's business.
01:45So therefore, as we work together and sit in, we will see a reduction in crime, even
01:52as we seek to put all the necessary strategies in place for a better Trinidad and Tobago.
