Commissioner of Police Allister Guevarro is warning his men to be vigilant as the TTPS has unearthed credible intelligence that there are increased threats to law enforcement because of the operation that resulted in two suspected kidnappers being shot dead.

00:00In a release issued a short while ago, the Top Cup states that TTPS successfully executed a series of coordinated operations between the night of July 21st and the early morning of July 22nd, 2025.
00:15He said these efforts led to the safe recovery of kidnapped victim Jan Kikarim, the arrest of one female suspect, and the fatal shooting of two male individuals, one in Rampanalgas and the other in Arima, both identified as members of the known criminal syndicate involved in the kidnapping.
00:36Commissioner Guevara states that following these operations, the TTPS has unearthed credible intelligence indicating increased threats to law enforcement personnel through planned coordinated criminal activity targeting both police and prison officers.
00:53He assures that the intelligence community remains fully engaged and continues to unearth vital information that is provided instrumental in disrupting these plans of the organized criminal syndicate.
01:08The Top Cup says, quote, we acknowledge that law enforcement is by its very nature inherently dangerous.
01:17However, in the current climate, particularly under the state of emergency, these risks have been further intensified, end quote.
01:26The commissioner is reminding his officers that their safety is of paramount importance and their vigilance both on and off duty must remain uncompromised.
01:36He says protective protocols are being strengthened, all intelligence units remain on high alert, and targeted countermeasures are being actively implemented to neutralize any emerging threats.
01:49He further states that the TTPS remains unwavering in its commitment to safeguard its officers, protect the public, and dismantle the operations of criminal syndicates across Trinidad and Tobago.
