It's a proud moment for former West Indies cricketer Larry Gomes and his family now that his biography has been written.

The book known as 'Larry Gomes, Mr. Dependable, My Life In Cricket' was written by cricket author Nasser Khan, with the pre-launch taking place recently in Canada.
Transcript
00:00Former West Indies left handed batsman Hilary Angelo Gomes, more popularly known as Larry
00:05Gomes has plenty to cheer about.
00:07That's because prolific author Nasser Khan has written his authorised biography entitled
00:12Larry Gomes, Mr Dependable, My Life in Cricket.
00:15The pre-launch and photo op function took place on August 27th at the Consulate General
00:20of Trinidad and Tobago in Toronto, Canada, a country where Gomes and his family now reside.
00:24After 10 years of being encouraged by my brother Randy, and after by the author Nasser
00:31Khan, and seeing the amount of work and research material necessary to produce the book, I
00:39can't help but say it was worth the effort, having viewed most of the finished material.
00:45This is Khan's 32nd publication.
00:47For him, it's a special feeling to have worked with a former West Indies cricketer.
00:51Yeah, it's a great honour and a joy to bring this book to fruition, you know, such a great
00:56body of works of one of our unsung heroes, almost folkloric in the annals of Trinidad
01:03and West Indies cricket, this unsung hero.
01:05So it's great, it's a great joy to write, research, publish this and we're at this stage
01:12now.
01:13And how can one get a copy?
01:15That area will soon be covered as the official launch will take place at the Ministry of
01:19Education and TNT in time to come.
01:22The book is expected to be launched by the Ministry of Education sometime in late
01:28October, entirely at the discretion of the ministry, and will be part of an education
01:35initiative where all schools, libraries and other education institutions will initially
01:43receive copies, courtesy of the Quicksilver Group of Companies.
01:49Book sales and sign-ins will be done after the launch at venues to be announced where
01:56it will be made available to the public.
01:59Gooms, now 71, scored nine centuries and 13 fifties from six to Test matches.
02:06So does he still follow West Indies cricket?
02:09Yes, but not as much as before, as it's sometimes difficult to swallow some of the
02:15defeats, especially in Test cricket.
02:18It's encouraging, however, to see them perform so much better in the T20 format.
02:25If ever asked to serve West Indies cricket, Gooms says he's ready in a heartbeat to
02:30do the necessary.
02:32Vinod Nawani, T6 Sport.
