An 82-year-old woman is said to be in good spirits and recovering at hospital after being stabbed 16 times.

Emlyn Adams of Centenary Street, Princes Town was the victim of a brutal house break-in, which occurred around midnight on Monday.

00:17According to police reports, a man of African descent with plaited hair gained entry to
00:22the back of the house and attacked the victim.
00:25She was stabbed in her stomach, left shoulder, upper back and left cheek.
00:29When we visited the victim's home today, a relative, who spoke off camera, said while
00:34they had no idea who would do this and why, nothing was taken from the house, so it was
00:40not a robbery.
00:46I was sleeping and I heard a noise and I came outside and when I came outside I see somebody
00:57running from up the road coming down and said go inside, go inside and my children
01:03and I went inside and we went under the bed and when I didn't hear any noise I came outside
01:10and my son said Granny get stabbed, Granny get stabbed.
01:17She said because of the amount of blood loss the elderly woman suffered, relatives attempted
01:22to stop the bleeding before rushing her to hospital.
01:25She says the elderly woman did not deserve this and called those responsible heartless.
01:32When you hear elderly getting stabbed or somebody getting robbed or anything, you feel hurt
01:39because you have a heart and whoever do it don't have a heart.
