00:00So when they had to, thankfully for the prompt response from the fire service,
00:04they were able to retrieve the special needs young man from the burning home.
00:10And I think as menfolk, one, we need to stop excusing domestic violence, period.
00:20As far as I'm concerned, there is no excuse for it.
00:24And we have to seek help when it is we're trying to figure out ways to manage trauma,
00:34manage emotions, manage the things that rattle us a bit.
00:39Now stable, Nurse Nakoya Bernard-Pole is recovering from chop wounds to her neck
00:45following a domestic dispute with her husband.
00:48Her special needs son, Malik John, who was rescued by fire officers,
00:54is also recovering after suffering smoke inhalation.
00:58Mr. Augustine, labeling the situation as tragic,
01:01has called on men to seek help if they feel vulnerable.
01:06We need to probably figure out a way to not just make the mental health services available,
01:15which they are, but figure out a way to get men through the door.
01:20You understand?
01:21And get men to understand, and some women too,
01:24to understand that when working out, it's okay to leave, to walk.
01:30Augustine said a platform must not be given to abusers,
01:34while the public must understand that love and a relationship is an investment.
01:40And as with all investments, there are risks.
01:45One, this thing called love and relationship is an investment.
01:50Correct.
01:51Number two, all investments come with risks.
01:54True.
01:55Whether the investment is in a bank or a financial institution,
01:58whether the investment is in a relationship, it must come with a risk.
02:02True.
02:02The risk is that it may work or it may not work.
02:04May not work.
02:05The risk is that it may work partially or it may work fully or it may not work at all.
02:09At all.
02:10Meantime, fire officers who responded to the incident in Signal Hill last Wednesday
02:15are being praised for not only the rescue of the disabled Malik John,
02:19but also containing the flames to the said housing unit.
02:24Acting Chief Fire Officer Ansar Ali in a social media post said,
02:30I wish to extend my sincere congratulations and recognition to the men and women of Blue Watch Scarborough Fire Station
02:40Tobago
02:40for their swift, professional and decisive response to a recent house fire in Signal Hill Tobago
02:47where a disabled young boy was successfully rescued.
