00:00And finally, catch us up with the story about this individual in Indiana, fraud, being accused
00:08of fraud, and inevitably is going to have a sentence here.
00:12You know, there may be some people unfamiliar with who Sean Eberhardt is.
00:16So I'll turn the floor over to you, and then what's going on here with the sentencing?
00:20Yeah, so a little background here is, you know, as we've seen the wind come out of the
00:25sail in the sports betting legalization, you know, most, you know, we've got 40-some states
00:29that are legal and in some form or other, you know, now this industry is kind of turning
00:35their eyes to online casino.
00:37And that's going to be where a big bulk of revenue comes from for these companies.
00:40They know that.
00:41They see that.
00:42And states are kind of seeing the same thing.
00:44They know they'll get a lot more tax money.
00:46Well, one of the states we thought would be, you know, early or early-ish, you know, the
00:52only seven states I think have legalized online casino was Indiana.
00:56Well, Indiana kind of had some issues here.
00:59Back in 2019, Sean Eberhardt, a former rep, was caught up in some kind of a pay-to-play,
01:07or there was a scheme going on for him to kind of advocate for things and bills for
01:13a promised job later.
01:15He has now been sentenced in this case a year and a day.
01:20And when this was first coming out and the court case began, lawmakers in Indiana kind
01:26of said, whoa, we got to pump the brakes on any gaming talk.
01:30You know, something like this is going to put, you know, gaming on the public's radar
01:37and kind of make them lose trust in legislators when it comes to gaming issues.
01:42And it seems like, you know, the Senate president who said that it would be a couple years before
01:48they might even consider online casino again.
01:52So kind of interesting to see, you know, cases like this and kind of slow down legislative
01:59process.
01:59But it kind of makes sense when you think about it.
02:02But Indiana looked like it could have been an early online gaming state.
02:06But because of this, I don't think it will be.
