00:00Joe, second overall pick odds have come out over the last week or so.
00:04Starts with Arvel Reese as the favorite.
00:06That number's grown a little bit.
00:09David Bailey in contention.
00:12They're leaving Reuben Bain's name up there.
00:15Caleb Downs, Sonny Styles have prices that say, hey, maybe, right?
00:20And then they kind of float the quarterbacks.
00:22I mean, with respect to Kenyon Sadiq and Katie McDonald,
00:25they're obviously not going second.
00:27They're just not going to go second overall.
00:31In Indianapolis at this Combine,
00:33I feel like no player took it by storm more than Sonny Styles.
00:38I also think Arvel Reese put up like the same numbers.
00:42It just gives you an idea of just how athletic they are, right?
00:46I heard someone jokingly say, how did anyone ever score on Ohio State?
00:49I mean, the answer is mostly they didn't.
00:52Not a lot of teams scored a lot of points on the Buckeyes, Joe.
00:55What do you make of Arvel Reese sitting here early March as a slight favorite to go number two?
01:03I mean, it's deserving based off the Combine numbers, but am I all in on him just solidified as the
01:11number two overall pick?
01:13No, it comes down to the type of player that you want.
01:16If you're asking me if I'm the GM and we're sitting there, Joe, you have the number two overall pick.
01:22And out of that list, who would you take?
01:25My money would be on David Bailey.
01:27And it's just because I've seen what Bailey can do.
01:31And that's not to take away from, you know, Arvel Reese and his productivity at Ohio State.
01:36It's just I know that David Bailey, to me, is a legitimate edge rusher, game changer,
01:42a guy that gets after the quarterback and just can significantly upgrade a defense.
01:48Kevin, this Texas Tech defense was absolutely atrocious in 2024.
01:55If anybody knows it, it's a guy that bet on them multiple times throughout the year, right?
02:00And he completely transformed that front seven in just one year that made them the best rushing defense in all
02:10of college football.
02:11I mean, they went from basically giving up 150 yards per game to all of a sudden giving less than
02:1770.
02:18I mean, that's how dominant of a player he is.
02:22And he obviously showcased that in the college football playoff.
02:25So for me and my money, if we're looking at that list, I'm all in on David Bailey.
02:31And the combine numbers don't sway me in any capacity off that number two, you know, ranking for him.
02:39So here's why I think it's so interesting, Joe.
02:42And I think right now, Reese getting to a minus price is maybe a bit strong.
02:47I know some people tied to the Jets think that Reese is the front runner, and I totally understand that.
02:54However, with Reese and maybe Styles as well, we do have a little bit of position uncertainty.
03:00Reese was an off-ball linebacker.
03:03Maybe, right, this desire to make him play edge is because down the road, Joe, Micah Parsons makes more money
03:11than Fred Warner, right?
03:12Right.
03:13Ultimately, where's the money?
03:14It's on the edge.
03:15Well, the Jets, in trading Jermaine Johnson to the Titans, a little under-the-radar move, and bringing in Tavondre
03:24Sweat, a mammoth of a man who's there to plug the middle, have now maybe created a legitimate need at
03:32edge rusher.
03:33And we know that David Bailey is a sack getter, right, Joe?
03:38Joe, to your point, we believe Reese has all the tools, and Reese could just be an all-pro level
03:46linebacker.
03:48But if the Jets are looking for edge, Bailey becomes that safe pick.
03:53Right.
03:54He's a pure edge rusher.
03:56He's certainly not a tweener in any way, shape, or form.
04:00And you can make the argument, and just looking at the body frame with Orville Reese, that maybe he could
04:06even add 10 to 15 pounds of muscle, but Bailey, as is, is that dominant, let's say, Micah Parsons type
04:14of player.
04:14Coming off the edge, he has the speed.
04:16He has the wingspan.
04:18He has the ability to force double teams.
04:20He has a motor.
04:21He has technique.
04:22Again, I can't signify enough about how Joey Maguire and Texas Tech went after this guy to be the main
04:34component of their front seven, and they hit the lottery with him.
04:38And, again, they really elevated him to the next level where I honestly believe in year number one, he could
04:46be rookie of the year.
04:47He is as dominant, in my opinion, as Jared Reverse was for Florida State coming out of the draft.
