PNM Tobago Council Political Leader Ancil Dennis is calling for the police and Integrity Commission to investigate a whatsapp message, purported to be in the name of THA Infrastructure Secretary Trevor James.
It alleges kickback money was paid by a contractor following a road project in Tobago.
James told TV6 News, the screenshot is a fabrication. Elizabeth Williams has a report.

00:00 So I'm saying to the people of Tobago, ignore that foolishness.
00:04 And I'm calling on the secretary and the chief, aka the boss,
00:11 to come to the people of Tobago and clear your name with respect to that.
00:15 And I'm also calling on the Integrity Commission
00:19 and the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service
00:22 to investigate those very alarming screenshots.
00:26 The screenshot broke on social media Facebook on Saturday.
00:30 TV6 contacted Infrastructure Secretary Trevor James on its contents,
00:35 and Mr. James said it was a fabrication and he would comment further on the matter.
00:41 Calls and WhatsApp messages to Chief Secretary Fahli Agustin went unanswered.
00:47 I am calling for a full police investigation,
00:52 not only into the screenshot, but into that operation
00:58 that has been taking place at the division
01:01 with regards to the award of those road contracts
01:05 to, in some cases, unqualified, inexperienced, incompetent contractors
01:13 who did not even have the money to do the project.
01:17 Mr. Dennis is also calling for the resignation of Infrastructure Secretary Trevor James
01:23 and says if he does not resign, the Chief Secretary Fahli Agustin must fire him.
01:29 We are calling for the immediate resignation, once again,
01:36 of the Secretary of Infrastructure.
01:40 We are calling on the Chief Secretary
01:43 that if the Secretary does not resign,
01:48 to fire this Secretary immediately from his Executive Council.
01:54 And we are also calling on the Secretary and the Chief Secretary
01:59 to come out and clear your name with respect to the screenshot that is circulating.
