00:00 Chef Natasha Deboog has not only been to 50 countries, but she's historically noted as the first Caribbean student at Cesar Ritz Colleges in Switzerland to hold all three positions simultaneously as Culinary President, Health Ambassador and Resident Ambassador.
00:21 She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Culinary Arts from Derby University in the United Kingdom, a Bachelor's in International Business and a Diploma in Hospitality and Tourism, just to list some of her qualifications.
00:35 She says her humble beginnings growing up here at home set the foundation for her accomplishments.
00:43 It started in my family's kitchen, my grandma's kitchen, but growing up my family cooking food and then actually I went to Manzanilla High School, so big up to my secondary school.
00:55 Everybody thinks that good things will come from the country, but there's a few things that you know from Manzanilla High School.
01:00 Big up Manzanilla boy!
01:03 So yeah, that's where I studied and I got married really young at the age of 18, divorced at 23 and just having a couple subjects, but I wanted to know what I wanted to do with my life that make a difference.
01:16 She returned to school in Trinidad and then to the Bahamas for her internship, where her life took a surprising turn.
01:25 And instead of being an intern, the executive chef from Austria apparently saw talent in me and he called my dad and be like, "Okay, if I were you, I would invest in your daughter because she clearly has a talent."
01:37 And that's exactly what my dad did. He invested in me, which is I went on to Switzerland.
01:45 The culinary strategist was on the reality television series Below Deck Sailing Yacht. The Netflix series shows the life and perspectives of the yacht crew for charters.
01:57 On to the present. She recently produced a show for moms who can't cook that would be shown in 40 million homes in the United States.
02:07 The executive is urging the decision makers in Trinidad and Tobago to invest more in Trinidad and Tobago's culinary culture.
02:15 I believe with my core that Trinidad is the mecca of culinary and I will continue to echo that, right?
02:20 Why will you not invest in your country? Two days of carnival is not enough to sustain a country.
02:26 We have so much to give. We are so multicultural and so multidiverse to give people that.
02:33 We don't have white sand, blue beaches, so what could we have to compensate for that? We have our food.
