Transcript
00:00As the Chutney Soka Monarchs competition celebrates its 30th anniversary, its Chief Executive Officer George Singh announced that the show has signed one of its biggest deals in the history of the competition with a U.S. based company to showcase Trinidad's talent on an international stage.
00:17For the first time in the Chutney Soka Monarchs Festival history, the show of the competition and concert will be distributed internationally by a U.S. based international film group.
00:31Louis Elloy and Deborah Lyons of IFG specialize in the finance and distribution of film entertainment worldwide.
00:41Together with its partner David Copeland of Global Media Digital TV, IFG reaches around the globe in television distribution syndication on both digital and linear platforms.
00:55The show will be available through Apple TV, Roku, Android TV, Google Play, Amazon Fire Stick and more.
01:03Singh said the number of contestants has been reduced for the finals.
01:08Nine finalists from the semi-final will compete in the CSM finale on Carnival Saturday against reigning CSM winner Rick Ramatua.
01:17Adding international journalists are expected to cover the event as well.
01:22In 2025, CSM will feature 30 artists at the semi-final stage on Saturday the 8th of February at La Tropical at Rick Compound in Laramie.
01:32From the semi-final, only nine artists will be selected for the grand final as Rick Ramatua will be defending his title.
01:42Also present at the CSM launch was Chairman of the National Carnival Commission, Winston Gypsy Peters.
01:48He said he was around from the inception of CSM and he was happy to see its growth.
01:54And the innovation that we have, Trinidadians and Tobegonians, today we boast of soca, another innovation of what we started.
02:09We boast of chutney soca, we boast of raga soca and I'm sure that we have many other music to come.
02:19Last year, King of Soca Marshall Montano said there was no need for a new soca competition as greater investments were needed elsewhere in the entertainment industry.
02:29Chairman of the NCC disagreed with Montano's statement and said the competitions help with the development of artists.
02:37But I want to say to you, and this goes for the whole spectrum of entertainment in Trinidad and Tobago, if we did not have competitions in Trinidad and Tobago, we would not have millionaire entertainers in this country.
02:51Because whenever we, all the artists you hear about, whether it's the chutney soca artists or the soca artists, as big as they are, and the biggest one that we have in the country is Marshall Montano.
03:03And if he, if we didn't have a competition to launch his career, he would not be where he is today.
