00:03 I'm a Commander's fan, full disclosure.
00:05 Sam Howell's at the top of the list.
00:07 Tell me, tell me more about Sam Howell.
00:10 - I will, I wanna know more about
00:11 this torn tricep you had too.
00:13 Did you tear the tricep and the bicep?
00:15 Did you do both?
00:15 Like, I mean, I know Hauser is.
00:18 - It wasn't me.
00:19 I've seen some torn things happen
00:22 and guys trying to tape them up.
00:24 You see the purple all around the taping.
00:26 And he's like, "Dude, come on,
00:27 "you have to go get that sewn up.
00:29 "Like, there's just no way around it.
00:30 "Tape on the outside is not gonna do anything
00:33 "for the torn tricep on the inside."
00:35 It's just common.
00:36 - There you go.
00:37 All right, there you go.
00:38 Industry insider knowledge
00:40 from a professional mass striker.
00:41 All right, let's get to Sam Howell.
00:43 Let's talk about him.
00:44 He finished his QB 11.
00:45 Did you know that?
00:46 He also had 21 touchdowns.
00:48 The problem is he also had 21 interceptions.
00:51 So Sam Howell, a bit of a mixed bag,
00:53 you might say for the season.
00:55 There were some glimpses where you feel good about it.
00:56 Now, Dan Quinn takes over here
00:59 to the Washington Commanders.
01:01 Dan Quinn is a defensive head coach.
01:04 So it's going to be really interesting
01:05 to see what happens here.
01:06 You see the passing yards,
01:07 you see him at 3,946.
01:10 Completion percentage is pretty decent.
01:11 It's the interceptions.
01:13 It's the turnovers that really derailed Sam Howell.
01:16 Sam Howell would make a lot of bad decisions
01:18 trying to make too many plays.
01:20 Now that's indicative of a young player figuring it out.
01:23 Can you instill the discipline in Sam Howell
01:25 over the next season to not make those decisions?
01:28 To not try to play hero ball,
01:30 to take a sack and live to fight another day?
01:32 Because that's what good quarterbacks do.
01:34 Sometimes the play can be made.
01:36 Sometimes it can't.
01:37 It's something that you've seen Baker Mayfield tighten up.
01:40 You know, when nobody thought, including me probably,
01:42 that Baker Mayfield could ever tighten that up.
01:45 But he did.
01:46 And he did over time.
01:47 And this year was indicative of how good he could be.
01:49 Now, Sam Howell has a lot of the same skill sets.
01:52 He's a mobile quarterback, right?
01:53 He can move in the pocket a little bit.
01:54 He can make plays.
01:55 He's got a little bit of that gunslinger mentality in him,
01:57 too.
01:58 But you never know what's going to happen here
02:00 with a new head coaching regime.
02:02 When a new coaching regime comes in, things tend to change.
02:05 So Sam Howell's going to be on a short leash.
02:07 I would not be looking at Sam Howell
02:08 as a guy that can copy and paste a QB1 performance next year.
02:11 I just don't think it's going to happen.
02:13 Especially when you've got guys like Jordan Love,
02:14 who's already ranked at 13.
02:16 No way, not happening.
02:18 So those guys are going to push.
02:20 Not to mention, you've got guys like Caleb Williams and Drake
02:23 May and a few other quarterbacks coming into the league that
02:26 could have seasons that look a lot like CJ Stroud.
02:29 So commanders are in a precarious spot here,
02:32 as is Sam Howell.
02:33 If Sam Howell is a guy that you have in a dynasty
02:35 league in Superflex, this could be the peak time to trade him.
02:39 It might not get better than this.
02:42 A QB11 finish, he is still young.
02:44 There's still questions.
02:46 But the problem is, there's still questions.
02:48 So as long as those questions are there,
02:50 both positive and negative, his value
02:52 is uncertain, because the value is uncertain.
02:54 And a new coaching regime is coming in,
02:56 who might just want to get their own guy,
02:59 to give you the Chris Farley air quotes there.
03:02 Because sometimes a new head coach
03:04 wants to get his own guy.
03:06 We know this.
03:07 And Sam Howell might not be Dan Quinn's guy.
03:09 And it's something to really think about.
03:11 He might get a shot.
03:11 He might get a year.
03:12 But he might not at the end of the day.
03:15 So this is an interesting time of year
03:16 in those dynasty keeper leagues to look at the asset,
03:19 evaluate the asset, and say, maybe this
03:21 isn't the guy that we can say is going to build on this year.
03:24 Maybe this was as good as it gets, to quote Jack Nicholson.
