Episode 5. On today's interview of The Brian Nichols Show, I'm joined by Richard Blank (CEO of Costa Rica's Call Center) who give us some real, authentic means to enhance the sales experience for both the prospect AND the salesman.

The Brian Nichols Show Episode 518 features Richard Blank, CEO of Costa Rica's Call Center, discussing how his background as an old-school retro gamer shapes and enhances the modern sales experience.

The Core Concept: Retro Gaming Meets Sales

Richard Blank uses his obsession with 1970s and 1980s classic arcade games and pinball machines—which he actively collects and houses directly inside his call center—as a foundation for building authentic connections in business. Instead of traditional, aggressive sales techniques, the episode focuses on human-centric strategies:

Meeting People Where They Are: Applying the basic fundamentals of sales and marketing to truly understand the prospects' needs rather than just trying to win an argument.
The Gamification of Soft Skills: Treating the sales process with the patience, tactical planning, and engagement of retro gaming to enhance the experience for both the consumer and the salesperson.
Company Culture: Building an environment where employees genuinely enjoy their workspace, fostering retention and better customer service.

00:00Oh, those little tiny things you can do every single day that will add up into something
00:04huge.
00:05Like I started, so I'll give you a real life example.
00:07So I was notorious and I like sleeping in.
00:10So what I decided to do was, well, I was running out of time to get my workout in at
00:15night.
00:15So I needed to get my workout in the morning.
00:17So what I started to do was I would wake up 15 minutes earlier every single day for the
00:22for one week.
00:23And then the next week I would add 15 minutes earlier until fast forward.
00:27I'm now 4 a.m.
00:29I'm up every morning and I've been doing that consistently now for a few months and it's
00:33been great.
00:33I feel fine.
00:34Like I'm not tired.
00:36Like I thought I would be.
00:37I, all the worst case scenarios I built in my head ended up all getting taken care of all
00:42because I took those steps of doing it one step at a time, getting to where I wanted to
00:46get to.
00:47And I think that for me was one of the best feelings knowing that, oh, that was easy.
00:51Like it looks so difficult at the onset, but when you do take it one step at a time, it
00:55becomes so much more manageable.
00:57And I.
