A 15 year-old girl in Tobago was severely beaten by eight girls, following a football match in Mason Hall and left unconscious in a drain.
Her father says he intends to press charges in the matter. More in this Elizabeth Williams report.

The incident occurred last Saturday at a football field in Mason Hall, Tobago, shortly before 10 p.m.

Speaking with TV6 News, her father Dexter Trim said he was worried his daughter would die.

To see my child in the hospital, unconscious, I felt like the world just collapsed on me.

And I just want justice to be done with them children and them that end up doing what they did to my daughter.

Mr. Trim told the TV6 News he intends to press charges in the matter.

He spoke to us outside the Scarborough Police Station.

I am not pulling back because them girls, when they did what they did to my daughter, they went home and sleep.

He said he was initially disappointed with the police service in Tobago.

My understanding is that there was police on the compound when this was happening.

I questioned why the police didn't intervene in what's happening.

The officer told me, well, there was a breaking in a car where somebody stole a car battery out of the car and they was investigating that.

Ms. Williams, my daughter's life was in jeopardy but the police stole a car battery.

He told us he still believes in the justice system of the country.
