00:00A great crime fighter who diligently sought out justice and who loved his country deeply.
00:11Tributes to Senior Superintendent of Police, Neil Brandon-John, who passed away at the
00:17age of 53, having served over 30 years with the TTPS.
00:23While his last post as Acting Assistant Commissioner of Police had him in the North Western Division,
00:28over his career he worked in the Central, Port of Spain, Tobago and Northern Police
00:34Divisions and served in the CID, IATF and Police Training Academy as well.
00:41On Tuesday, he was eulogized by his only child.
00:45If you ask me, he was the best police officer Trinidad and Tobago had.
00:50I was convinced that only if Daddy said the law was so, the law was so.
00:57He was well-respected among his colleagues and in every division that he worked.
01:02He cemented himself as the dedicated and wise officer that he was.
01:08Not to be fooled by his calm demeanor, he could handle anything.
01:13Someone once told me, when Neil Brandon-John passes, not even grass will move.
01:19During the service, Commissioner of Police, Ula Hairwood-Christopher made a presentation
01:24of a photo and TTPS flag to the deceased officer's wife.
01:29Words of comfort were also delivered during the service by DCP Junior Benjamin, who included
01:35tributes from colleagues of Brandon-John.
01:38Another one of his colleagues stated, he was a charge man, a man who loved to test legislations
01:48to see if they were good or bad.
01:51He even charged a government minister, let me say that very soft.
01:57He even charged a government minister and won the matter.
02:02He was fearless, excellent in the courts, always loving to share new legislation and
02:11getting officers to read new laws.
02:15Brandon-John was remembered as an exceptional officer that served with a love for country
02:20that matched his love for family.
02:23He was the quintessential role model of what a police officer should be.
02:31He demonstrated true leadership that is grounded in humility and service.
02:38As we reflect on the life and legacy of this great crime fighter, Officer Brandon-John,
02:46let us remember as individuals that he had an unwavering commitment to justice.
02:56His courage for crime fighting in the face of adversity should not be forgotten.
03:02In delivering the homily, Roman Catholic priest Father David Kahn said people are remembered
03:07by the way they lived and he said Brandon-John's legacy is one of love for country.
03:14Yet in wanting a better Trinidad and Tobago, he says, he started with himself, his family,
03:20his community and then the country.
03:23This nation that he loved, together we aspire, together we achieve.
03:29So if we don't work together, we will not aspire or achieve anything that is good.
03:38But we have to do it in a spirit of truth because I said if there is no truth, there
03:43will be no justice and where there is no justice, there will be no peace.
03:49My dear brothers and sisters, it has to begin with me.
