00:13Hello and welcome to Gangs All Here. This is your week four preview Jets at Bears. They're going into Chicago
00:18at one and two. I'm your host Ryan Sampson. That's our Jets beard, our Brian Costello, and that's Frankie Viterini
00:23from U Stadium. Today is Thursday, October 1st, fellas. We officially have reached October. Fall is in the air.
00:29Football is in full effect right now. College football season is going on. The NFL, we're three weeks in, going
00:35on to the fourth week. It's a fun time of year, I think, and especially since the Jets are actually
00:40putting competitive football on the product and the feel that we get to see. But before we get to any
00:45of that, I'll start with Kaz. How are you doing today, buddy?
00:48I'm good, Ryan. How are you?
00:50I'm good. I'm good. Yankees swept the Red Sox. As a Yankees fan, I am extremely excited to see Yankees
00:57postseason baseball. It's always fun beating up on the Red Sox.
01:00And I have a good football game, I think, in Jets-Bears to look forward to this week, and I'm
01:04excited to talk about it with you today. Frankie, how are you feeling, buddy?
01:08Feeling good, man. Feeling good. I just want to be playing competitive football games in October.
01:12All right? Can we finish this month and the Jets not be out of it?
01:16So that's all I'm asking for. We got to get into November where, you know, the Jets are still in
01:21it, right?
01:21We got a big one, though. This might be the telltale right here.
01:25Yeah, look, Kaz and Frankie, I think this is where, you know, a lot of discussion has gone for this
01:30Jets team this week.
01:31All of the talk, Kaz, was about the moral victories on Monday after they put up a really competitive game
01:36against the Lions.
01:37The Jets have lost two straight one-score games, and now they're going into Chicago, who's 2-1 themselves.
01:42They don't have their starting quarterback. We're going to see if it's going to be Baygent or Case Keenum.
01:47But they just beat up on the Eagles 27-7 on Monday Night Football, so it's a short week for
01:51them.
01:52But, Kaz, I think the question a lot of Jets fans are asking themselves, and I'll start with you on
01:56this one,
01:56is this a must-win for the New York Jets at 1-2?
02:01Is this a must-win?
02:04He called you. We're not going to like that question. Ryan called.
02:08No. To quote Mark Levy, World War II was a must-win.
02:19No, absolutely not. There will be – I'm doing the math in my head, the 17-game schedule, right?
02:28There's going to be 13 more games after this. Am I right?
02:31Do you think about that?
02:31You are right.
02:32Yeah. So, yes. No, it's a long season. It is not a must-win.
02:38Well, I think what's interesting, Kaz, while you're saying it's not a must-win,
02:41this does start a five-week stretch of opponents.
02:44You think the Jets, with how they played football, and despite the injuries,
02:48they still are in these games recently.
02:51They start a five-week stretch, though, with the opponents, you would think they have a chance in each one
02:55of these games
02:56to actually pull off a victory.
02:58So, this feels like a critical stretch they're about to start to determine how this season is going to go.
03:05Yeah, I would agree with that.
03:06I think you want to come out of this 3-2, you know, at least.
03:10I think you'd feel good about that after the five-game stretch.
03:14To me, it's all about how long can you kind of linger around 500 for the Jets.
03:20And, you know, you want to be in that 4-5, 5-4 area, going into what looks like, on
03:28paper, a tough stretch then,
03:29where you've got the Chiefs and the Bills back-to-back.
03:31And I'm going to guess the Chargers are going to figure some things out between now and then, but maybe
03:36not.
03:38So, you want to be right around 500 entering that stretch, I feel like.
03:44And I think that's reasonable with what you said, with the Jets' schedule here coming up.
03:48These are all winnable games for them.
03:51Some of the teams are hard to figure right now.
03:53I think the Patriots, are they as bad as they looked?
03:56I don't know.
03:57Are the Raiders as good as 3-0?
03:59I don't know.
04:00I think we know what the Dolphins are.
04:02The Browns are a little tricky.
04:04And this is a tricky one because we don't even know who's playing quarterback on Sunday.
04:08Right.
04:09And the Bears have been a weird team, right?
04:11They came out and they blew the doors off of the Panthers in week one.
04:15And then they struggled against the Vikings.
04:16And then they had an improbable win against the Eagles on Monday night when they looked good.
04:20So, it's hard to figure out exactly what they are.
04:22So, it's going to be, you know, the NFL is crazy, which we talked about Monday, Ryan, right?
04:27The Jets can play this game where, oh, you know, we should be 2-1 right now.
04:31Maybe even 3-0.
04:32But there's, like, 28 teams in the NFL that are playing that game.
04:37Like, you know, the Titans are playing that game.
04:40That they should be 2-1 because they lost to the Eagles and the Giants in the last minute.
04:43So, it's very tight.
04:45Everything's very tight other than a few teams at the top and a few teams at the bottom.
04:49So, it's going to be an interesting stretch.
04:51It really is.
04:52After Chicago, they're home against the Browns.
04:55They're at the Patriots.
04:56Home against the Dolphins.
04:57Home against the Raiders before they go to Kansas City and Buffalo.
05:01And, Frankie, for you as a fan, this is that narrative period here where Glenn gets to really prove himself
05:08over this next five-game stretch.
05:09What type of coach he is.
05:11And if he can keep his team in these games.
05:13And it's all about the look on the field.
05:16And I think for you, what are you hoping to see this weekend against the Bears?
05:23I mean, listen, Glenn has to put together a game plan that's going to throw Ben Johnson a few loops
05:29in there.
05:30I mean, you've got to get whoever's playing quarterback off their spot.
05:33You have to stop their running game.
05:35That's another big point with the Bears specifically that I think is being overlooked.
05:40Their run game has been awesome.
05:41DeAndre Swift's been playing really well.
05:43And so has Menunga, almost averaging six yards a carry.
05:46They have a good run game.
05:47They have a good offensive line.
05:49They have a good scheme.
05:49What is Aaron Glenn going to do?
05:51Looking and thinking back about last week's game, I didn't like the game plan.
05:55During the game, it didn't seem all that bad.
05:58At points, I'm like, oh, the defense is playing pretty good.
06:00And then you look at the drive charts.
06:02And I went back and looked at some of the all 22.
06:04They didn't do enough.
06:05Very vanilla.
06:07No turnovers.
06:08No interceptions again.
06:10Weren't getting pressure on the quarterback.
06:11And when they were trying to blitz, he was almost couldn't incomplete a ball.
06:17And ironically, Case Keenum was almost perfect against the blitz last week.
06:22So they have to, Glenn specifically, you said play calling is your superpower.
06:28Let's see it.
06:29This is the week to kind of prove it.
06:30I said this last week, Kaz and Rye.
06:32I think the clock has started on Glenn after last week's game.
06:37I think we can get over the first year.
06:39We can get over the first couple games.
06:41I think now it's just there's a spotlight on him because he's a defensive guy.
06:47He used to practice and call plays against Ben Johnson.
06:51Let's see what you can come up with.
06:53I think this is a big confidence game for me when it comes to, you know, what confidence
06:57I do have left in the coach.
06:59I got to see something.
07:00I got to see something different or unique.
07:02We just have to.
07:04And I think from that perspective, I would agree, Frankie.
07:07And it's a good point by you.
07:09And Kaz, I think while you're saying it's not a must win, you talk about trickiness of
07:15these games because of the situation.
07:17And you, you know, this, the NFL, it's weird.
07:20Like any week can be different.
07:22This feels like a week lined up while you are an underdog going into Chicago, not expected
07:26to win.
07:27According to Vegas, this is a game.
07:29I feel like as Jets fans pull off the upset, like if you're Aaron Glenn, when's that signature
07:34wing going to come in for you to, to, because the message you're trying to resonate to the
07:38locker room, I would say as well, Hey fellows, you're competing.
07:42You're, you're believing in the, in the philosophy and all that.
07:45But they have to see the wins on the field as well.
07:47Cause that's going to ultimately affect you down the line.
07:52Well, I think that's a different argument, Ryan, and must win.
07:54Okay.
07:55I don't think it's a must win because if they lose this game and then let's say they win
07:58three of the next four.
08:00Right.
08:00Right.
08:01Which is, I think we all agree is possible.
08:04Right.
08:04So then you're four and four.
08:06Is my math.
08:07Correct.
08:07My math is more.
08:09Cause you think it's, so this team really went three of the next four though.
08:12You think like, absolutely.
08:13Absolutely Frankie.
08:14Yeah.
08:15So Cleveland, New England and Miami.
08:18Yeah.
08:18I mean, I'll take you back like 2022, they went on that crazy October run where they won
08:23at Lambeau and they beat Pittsburgh.
08:26And like, we've seen even bad jets teams do this.
08:31Like 2017, they had a kind of a run in the middle of the season.
08:35Like there's a, there's a way to get there.
08:37I don't think it's unreasonable.
08:38I'm not saying it's definitely going to happen, but the idea of a must win, like they could
08:42lose this game and then win three of the next four.
08:44And you feel pretty good about the team.
08:46The, the idea that Aaron Glenn needs a signature victory.
08:49I'm with you.
08:49And I feel like that is accentuated by the last two weeks.
08:53And that's been the conversation of moral victories and all that stuff.
08:56Like at some point you've got to break through and win one of these games.
08:59And I said, I think I said to you on Monday, Ryan, I was trying to think of when's the
09:03last
09:04time I was shocked by a jets win and it's 2023 against the Eagles.
09:09And that's three years ago now, like they've had some nice wins and Cincinnati was nice last
09:14year to come back, but it wasn't shocking.
09:16They, they, Joe Flacco was the quarterback.
09:18They, you know, they, they, they, they, with Rogers, they beat the Texans on Halloween.
09:22That was a nice win, but it wasn't shocking.
09:25This, they need one of these ones where you don't see, you don't see it coming.
09:29Um, and I'll give them this one, even though it's a backup quarterback, I do think most
09:33people are going to pick the bears in this game.
09:35So I would give this one, this would be a nice win for him to just kind of like, yeah,
09:40they are actually turning the corner and it's, it's not just moral victories.
09:44Right.
09:44And I think that's like kind of like the main line here is it's, if you're saying it's
09:48not a must win on paper, it is a must win for what he is saying and what this team
09:52is
09:52trying to say about their, their quote unquote culture, the program that they're trying to run
09:57here and turning it around, big ships turn slow.
10:00Like he says, uh, let's, let's switch over.
10:02It's actually into this game cause one of the bigger storylines would be this offensive
10:06line and how much it has struggled.
10:08Uh, just last week, the first two weeks was pretty strong from the showing of upfront,
10:14but last week was really, it feels like they were exposed.
10:17Olu leads the NFL and sacks allowed with four, three of them against the lions last week.
10:21Like I know you had spoken to Olu, uh, what, what, what did he say?
10:27And what did you see from him on the field?
10:30Does this feel like a, a, Hey, this guy's really going through it struggling right now,
10:35or is this a technique thing?
10:36How do you see this going right now with Olu?
10:39I think he just got beat, right?
10:40Like it's a, it's a hard job when you think about it, right?
10:44Cause we're like, say like six, 65 snaps or something like that you're out there for.
10:49And if you have two bad ones, two out of 65 are bad.
10:53That's a bad game.
10:55And like, you're on, you're now all of a sudden we're talking about you and there's, you know,
10:59cornerback is cornerback is a similar position.
11:02Like all you, if we have any young, do we have any young viewers out there, Ryan?
11:05Like any young football players and you're trying to stop a position, go play defensive
11:09ends.
11:10Like you get, you get, you make two good plays in a game and you're a hero.
11:15It's true.
11:16I would not want to be an offensive lineman.
11:17I just wouldn't like, it's, it's tough.
11:19I think Olu is going to be fine.
11:21I wouldn't be concerned.
11:22He, after the game, he took, he totally took the blame and you know, he, he said he needs
11:27to play better.
11:28I think he gets it.
11:29He, um, yeah.
11:30I mean, he just got beat when you watched it, especially the two, like he just got cold,
11:34you know, beat by a, I want them.
11:36And, uh, these teams have really good defensive lines.
11:41I feel like every week you look at it, there's, there's a good pass rusher on the team or a
11:45couple.
11:45So it's, it's a tough thing.
11:47And, but I, I don't think it's time to hit the panic button on Olu.
11:50I think you had a bad game.
11:52I'm more concerned about the running game with the offensive line.
11:55Honestly, uh, that to me is like, they want to be a running team and they can't do anything
12:03in the running in the last two weeks.
12:04And now they don't have breeze.
12:05Now they don't have Parham like that.
12:07That to me is a big concern.
12:09Yeah.
12:09Look, Parham was PFF's highest graded offensive lineman in the NFL through two weeks, uh,
12:14driven by the 92.5 run blocking grade.
12:16Uh, he's week to week with the knee injury cause.
12:19So Meredith is stepping in and we all remember what happened on that fumble with Gino.
12:23Meredith clearly did not go the right way, uh, in the past pro along with Braille and
12:27Allen.
12:27So this is also, uh, uh, another question here with Meredith stepping in here and the
12:34fact that the jets have not been able to get this running game going, how much confidence
12:38do you expect against a stout bears defense, a very good defensive line up there where they
12:43have a backup left guard and the backup running backs starting.
12:48Yeah.
12:49I don't have much confidence, Ryan.
12:51I mean, the only thing that, the only thing that gives you confidence is, oh, it's a week
12:55week league and create, you know, nothing last week's performance doesn't always translate
12:58to this week, that kind of thing.
12:59But there's no, there's no case to be made here.
13:03Like, oh, the jets are going to come out and run the ball down the bears throats this
13:05week.
13:06I just, I just don't see it.
13:08Frankie, uh, without breeze, do you trust, uh, Braille and to be able to shoulder the
13:12load here?
13:13He hates breeze.
13:15He's going to use probably happy Braille's in there.
13:19Listen, don't be surprised if you're like he's ever watched last week.
13:22Yeah.
13:23Uh, yeah.
13:24Don't be surprised if after Sunday's game, you're like, wait, that's what a running back
13:28supposed to do between the tackles.
13:30I haven't seen that in a while.
13:35Listen, it's going to, there's a tough task for these guys, man.
13:39Um, I do think Braylon will be in a better position for his own sake in the fact that
13:46they're going to give him, you know, 15, 18 calories you'd think.
13:50So I think that'll help him.
13:52Um, he's kind of like a, he's, he's like a motor, he's like a boat.
13:55He's got to get, he's got to get moving a little bit.
13:57Um, I don't think he's a good change of pace back.
14:00I think when you feature him, you'll start seeing the things he can do.
14:04So, um, I'm looking forward to Isaiah Davis though.
14:07I really think he's got to get on the football field.
14:09It seems like he has even, has he done anything this year?
14:12I don't think he hasn't touched the ball this year.
14:14He hasn't played a snap on offense.
14:16Yeah.
14:16It's insane.
14:18Wow.
14:18Yeah.
14:18It's crazy.
14:19And like, you know, I'm with you, Frankie, like he, Davis is like the, if you look at
14:23the end of last year or the end of the year before, like he did good things.
14:26He's not playing a lot and he would play well.
14:29Like, I don't understand why he hasn't been on the field at all.
14:32Yeah.
14:33And he's a perfect kind of change of pace back when you're looking at the stuff that,
14:37you know, Brees and Braylon, or they want to do within, you know, between the tackles,
14:41you can be so creative with him.
14:42It seems like with our tight ends and, and how flexible they are and different things we
14:48can do with those guys.
14:49And even our receivers, Isaiah Davis is just another weapon you could throw out there.
14:53So I'm curious to see how, how, how that's going to look on Sunday, but, um, just quickly
14:58on the old line thing, cause I was going to ask you this and Ryan, do you remember
15:01when Connor Hughes mentioned that he had spoken to someone from another team about
15:05Olu and his technique being off?
15:09Something's off with Olu.
15:10Do you remember that clip that Connor Hughes had that he had spoken to?
15:13Whatever.
15:14I'm just, I went and I looked into the, some of his past sets and, uh, via the all 22.
15:20Olu looks off.
15:22I don't know what it is.
15:23His technique looks off.
15:25I don't know if he's hurt.
15:26He's lunging.
15:27He's leaning.
15:27I don't know.
15:28I was just going to throw that at you guys, because I don't know if you heard what Connor
15:31had said going into the season that he had spoken to some people or spoken to someone
15:36from another team who had mentioned that.
15:37So I don't know.
15:38I was just throwing that out there.
15:39Maybe something's going on with Olu because he looks like a different player this year
15:44than, than what he even looked at his, you know, his first couple of years in the league.
15:48He's not going to have an easy test this week against the bears.
15:52Uh, and he's not, and he's going to have to hold up because I feel like the jets, if
15:55they're not able to get the run game going at fellas, they're going to have to rely on Gino
15:58to have another strong game on the offensive side of the ball, uh, cause with breeze being
16:02out, does this change the offense more?
16:05Would you say in the run game or the passing game where he has been a check down weapon
16:10for Gino?
16:12I think more in the run game for sure.
16:13Ryan, I still think they have enough weapons.
16:16I think Brayling gets the ball in the backfield.
16:18I think Isaiah Davis can catch them all the backfield.
16:21Uh, like we saw last week, there's going to be a heavier emphasis on the tight ends.
16:26Um, so yeah, but the run game, you know, changes drastically to me without breeze.
16:31I Braylon, I'm not sure how, how good Braylon is on the perimeter runs, you know, and that's
16:36kind of where the only way, the only thing that's worked recently for them has been perimeter
16:39runs.
16:40So, uh, I think this changes the run game completely.
16:43Certainly something to watch.
16:45Uh, and like Frankie said, if Braylon can actually get some yards in, in between the
16:49tackles and if they can open some kind of holes, because they struggled on film yet last week
16:54to open any holes for breeze to, to, to make some misses.
16:57Uh, let's talk about Gino, the quarterback last week, you know, for all the talk about
17:02Gino, the, the two versions that we'd see the really, really bad version or the really,
17:06really good version.
17:07We're seeing, I think a more consistent version of Gino, not turning the football over right
17:12now, zero interceptions and he's delivering the ball to his playmakers guys.
17:17And last week, 31 to 37, 321 yards, three touchdowns, no interceptions.
17:22He gets the ball to Garrett on 10 catches for 107 yards, including the touchdown on fourth
17:27down.
17:28Kenyon Sadiq had seven catches for 105 yards in the touchdown and it came against the
17:32Detroit defense.
17:33That was 31st in scoring.
17:34We all understand that.
17:35But last week, if it's not against that defense, when Gino answered the call.
17:42So I'll start with you, Frankie.
17:44Did Gino do enough in your mind to start making you say, maybe this is an improved version
17:50of Gino?
17:52Not even close.
17:54Oh, I'm joking.
17:58I'm kidding.
17:59I'm joking.
18:00My bad jokes are coming out today.
18:02Bear with me.
18:04He looked awesome last week.
18:06I'm not going to lie.
18:07He looked confident.
18:08He was poised.
18:08He stood strong in the pocket.
18:12Seemed like that Detroit defensive line was getting after us, man.
18:16They were.
18:16So I like the guts on that guy.
18:19And if you look at that one throw he had to Sadiq, man, that was a freaking throw and
18:23a half.
18:24And you look at that from, Kaz, did you see that from the aerial viewer from the back,
18:29the All-22 view?
18:30I mean, that's as good of a throw.
18:32That's a confident veteran kind of throw.
18:34So we don't see throws like that.
18:36We just don't.
18:37We don't see plays like that.
18:38So Gino's looked great, man.
18:41He really has.
18:41He's exactly the kind of, I think, when we were talking about raising this floor on offense,
18:47he's been everything you're looking for when it comes to the type of quarterback play we
18:51need to raise that floor.
18:53I will say one little negative point here.
18:57I don't want to be too positive.
18:59I think he holds onto the ball a little too long sometimes, or there's a miscommunication
19:04going on between him and Myers.
19:06Even remember the Green Bay game where we're getting close to delay of games.
19:11And, you know, he's maybe not the communication there, I think, could be a little bit off.
19:16It seems like from my perspective, sometimes they're not picking up the blitz pressures.
19:20We saw on that sack fumble that clearly it was, he didn't see it.
19:24I mean, Mike White was talking about that, right?
19:26He was, it was on a podcast, I think.
19:28And he mentioned that.
19:30So, yeah, I think, but I also think this is all very new, right?
19:34Gino's playing with Myers for the first time to have his Frank Reich as his OC.
19:38I think it's going to take a little time for that all to gel together.
19:40But I want to see Gino and the offense get it out a little faster if you can.
19:48But they've looked, they've looked fine.
19:50The offense isn't the problem, guys.
19:52I think we can confidently say after three games that, or especially going into this week,
19:57we're not really worried about the offense, are we?
19:58We're more worried about the other side.
20:00But Gino's, Dino's looked really good.
20:01I'm pleasantly surprised.
20:03I don't know about the offense isn't the problem, but I think you have to be extremely encouraged
20:08in what you've seen so far.
20:10Kaz, I had asked you earlier this week on, like, if Gino can play himself into maybe a future
20:15one-year contract extension to show that he can be that bridge quarterback for that future
20:20quarterback they take, what more do you need to see from him this week?
20:23And will A.D. Mitchell suit up?
20:27Yeah, I just think you need to see consistency, Ryan.
20:29Like you said before, I do think there's a game coming where Gino's going to throw some
20:35picks and have a bad game.
20:37You know, he didn't play great against Green Bay.
20:39You know, I think he was great against Detroit.
20:43And Tennessee was kind of like a conservative game plan.
20:47He made a couple throws.
20:48But, like, how many more of these Detroit games can he have?
20:51And then how many bad games does he have?
20:54So I think that's the whole thing.
20:56And to me, the question on the offense, besides the running game, is can they stop leaving
21:02points on the field?
21:03Because they had two drives as good as they were in Detroit, the drive before half, which
21:09that was not on Aaron Glenn.
21:10They committed some dumb penalties and the drive stalled at midfield.
21:14And then they get to the seven-yard line and they take two sacks.
21:20Two sacks in a row.
21:20Two sacks in a row.
21:22Backwards and have to kick a field goal.
21:25And so, like, you know, we've talked about these margins in games are so close.
21:30You're leaving points on the field.
21:32And we've seen it every week from them where it's been like, ah, they could have got a
21:36touchdown there and they had to kick a field goal.
21:37Or they just didn't do anything before halftime with the ball.
21:42So they've got to start cashing in on those chances.
21:45I don't think there's any way you'll see A.D. Mitchell run.
21:48Like, you know, he didn't practice Wednesday.
21:51Like, he's, Glenn called him week to week.
21:54And in Aaron Glenn terms, that means he's not playing.
21:58He called everyone week to week this week, right?
22:02Well, the five guys who didn't practice, because I don't think any of them are playing.
22:06Like, he didn't call Minka Fitzpatrick week to week, because Minka Fitzpatrick's playing this week.
22:11So, you know, you have to kind of read between lines.
22:13I think he was being coy last Friday, downplaying the injury.
22:16When we saw the picture, like, I tweeted out the picture that our Bill Colestrin took.
22:20He, you know, that was a huge, that was like a cast on his hand.
22:24Like, he, I, I would not be shocked.
22:26I don't know this, but I would not be shocked if the finger's broken.
22:29Yeah.
22:29Like, Glenn said it wasn't, but I don't know.
22:32It looked bad.
22:35And I don't think you're going to see A.D. this week.
22:37Well, what's interesting is if A.D.'s out again, because we saw Sterling Shepard catch a two-point conversion last
22:43week,
22:43and he was elevated up, and we saw the emergence finally of Sadiq, and you're hoping that this can be
22:49the start of something.
22:50So, with Garrett and Sadiq, maybe that is the formula for this passing game to really have success.
22:56I understand the defense in Detroit was not good, but those two guys are two first-round picks that have
23:02shown they already have,
23:04especially with Garrett, he has a tremendous amount of talent, and Sadiq, we all believe, has that type of talent.
23:09Is that the formula, though, for this passing attack?
23:14Yeah, and I think you're hoping you get the other guys to augment it, right?
23:19I think you're hoping Mitchell comes back soon, Mason Taylor, get him in the mix, Omar Cooper, right?
23:26Like, if they can have some success with those two guys and then add to the picture, then now you're
23:34cooking, right?
23:35But you've got to get Brees back, too, and there's going to be other injuries.
23:39This is the way the NFL season goes, but I do think Garrett is a great player, and he's been
23:46held back by coordinators and quarterbacks here a lot.
23:49But right now they're humming, and it looks good, and he made some really amazing catches on Sunday.
23:55And, yeah, Sadiq, I got a text from a coach that was like, tight end's the real deal.
24:00Man, like, that guy is legit, and I think everyone saw that, and he feels like he's fully caught up
24:07from missing the summer.
24:08And I think he's only going to do more now, Ryan.
24:12I think they're just going to keep adding to his plate and finding different ways to use him.
24:17And I got a feeling Jets fans are going to be in love with Kenny and Sadiq.
24:21It's been a long time since the Jets have had a tight end that you feel good about, but I
24:28think he's going to be the guy.
24:29And a tight end that can attack the middle of the field.
24:32Again, I think it's so crucial when you're trying to attack teams now in today's NFL, you've got to be
24:37able to attack them down the middle.
24:39And Sadiq just creates such a mismatch up the seam, over the middle, end of rounds, from the backfield.
24:46He can do so many things, Kaz, like you're saying, and they can put more on his plate and really
24:51just pepper him with targets, pepper Garrett with targets.
24:54Those are two guys you want to see with the ball in their hands, especially with the yak, too, because
24:58I think that was another thing Sadiq did really well last week,
25:00is he could break some tackles and take the ball from a five-yard catch into a 15- to
25:0520-yard gain.
25:06You know what's crazy about Sadiq, really quick?
25:08Yeah.
25:09He's looked even better on an NFL field than he even did on a college football field.
25:14Remember, he didn't have 100 yards receiving.
25:16He didn't have anything at Oregon.
25:17He never did.
25:18So, I mean, he even looks better.
25:20I mean, getting into an NFL weight room, getting six months old or a year old or getting into your
25:25body,
25:26like, that kid's a problem if he can stay healthy.
25:29He's going to be a mismatched nightmare, but he has to stay on a football field.
25:34That's number one for him.
25:35Kaz, Detroit's defense gives up a lot of yards, but Chicago's defense loves to take the ball away.
25:40The Bears led the NFL with 33 takeaways in 2025, 23 interceptions.
25:44They have six more through three games this year already, including three against the Eagles on Monday night.
25:50How is this defense different from what the Jets just saw in Detroit?
25:55Yeah, I mean, not to take away what the Jets did in Detroit, but that defense, like, their secondary is
26:02rough, man.
26:03Like, that was their third and fifth safeties were out there starting.
26:06Fifth safety is on the field.
26:08That's tough, and, you know, Chuck Clark was a Jets castaway, right?
26:13He barely could play here, and, you know, DJ Reed had some good moments here, but DJ Reed is now
26:19getting older,
26:19and he's not the number one cornerback.
26:22He wasn't the number one cornerback here.
26:23So, the Detroit secondary, you know, the Jets' performance comes with a little, I'm not going to say asterisk,
26:29because that's too strong, but a little footnote that they were playing a really bad defense.
26:34So, yeah, now you got to, Chicago's a better defense, and we'll see what they can do here against a
26:42better unit.
26:44And it's interesting you mentioned the takeaways, Ryan, right, from last year.
26:48I know where you're going with this.
26:50Well, the Jets signed Nayshaun Wright, and he was inactive on Sunday.
26:53Like, I don't know, like, that's been a stunner.
26:56Former Bears.
26:56He has no role at all.
26:58Yeah, well, he had all the interceptions for the Bears last year.
27:02He did.
27:02Like, that's what he just was signing him.
27:04Like, yeah, yes, and I wrote a column today.
27:08Like, this is the week, guys.
27:09This is the week.
27:10Get a freaking interception.
27:13Like, 20 games, nice round number.
27:16It's going to look nice in the record book.
27:18End it.
27:18Like, get a damn interception.
27:21It doesn't make any sense.
27:22Like, I tell you guys, I, you know, I talked to beat writers from the other town a lot before
27:28the Jets played them,
27:29and I always mention it, because they're looking for, like, notes about the team or whatever, and I'm like, yeah.
27:34And it's like, wait a second, what?
27:36They're like, 20 games?
27:38Like, the Bears are just texting me.
27:4020 games?
27:40Like, what's the old record?
27:42And so, it's just insane.
27:44And I don't feel like they've been close this year.
27:46No.
27:47There hasn't been a dropped interception.
27:48There's never been a ball in the area like, oh, that was one they should have picked off.
27:52Only Bailey almost had one.
27:55That's true.
27:55Yeah, Bailey, right.
27:58But I won't mention any, I won't mention any names, but there was, I was watching practice yesterday.
28:02They were doing drills, and this one ball hit a guy right in the hands, and he just dropped the
28:07ball.
28:07And I just, like, shook my head.
28:08I went, oh, my God.
28:09They, they got, can they just get an interception?
28:11It was Brandon Stevens, wasn't it?
28:14It was not a player.
28:15I would say it was not a starter.
28:17It was not a starting defensive back, so.
28:20Okay.
28:20I will say this with, like you said, Kaz, the Detroit Lions had some really, they were testing their depth,
28:27to say the least, on the back end.
28:28This Bears defense with Dennis Allen calling the, calling the plays.
28:32When he took over in 2025 in that, in the league, he has the most turnovers in that span with
28:3739 takeaways.
28:38Like I said, three interceptions against Jalen Hurts and the Eagles, while also one from Andy Dalton as well.
28:44But they love to, they love to pressure with their corners.
28:47They got a really good pass rusher in Montez Sweat.
28:50They're going to test Geno and this group to really, like, see if they can actually move the ball like
28:57they did against Detroit.
28:57Because I think it's going to be a big difference for this Jets offense.
29:01If they can't get the run game going, a lot's going to be relied upon Geno, Garrett, and Sadiq.
29:07And these corners and safeties for Chicago, they're going to be aggressive on the ball.
29:11It's going to be on Geno to protect the ball.
29:13And like you said, win the turnover battle, which is tough to do against Chicago.
29:19Yeah, and it's something the Jets never do.
29:21I know.
29:22So, yeah.
29:23Yeah.
29:25They're due, though, Ryan.
29:26They are due.
29:27This is like, you know, the old Simpsons routine where Krusty the Clown bet on the Washington Generals to beat
29:33the Harlem Globetrotters.
29:34They were due.
29:36They were due.
29:38Todd, the interception comes this week.
29:39You're calling it?
29:40Comes this week.
29:41Is the week?
29:42Wow.
29:42All right.
29:42I'm going to go Dane Belton pick six.
29:46Wow.
29:47I like that.
29:49I like that.
29:49Pick six?
29:50Bell's been playing good, by the way.
29:52Dane Belton pick six, Ryan.
29:54Write it down.
29:55Clip it.
29:55I'm writing it right now.
29:58Dane Belton pick six.
30:00Frankie, do you trust Geno to be able to not turn the ball over this weekend against Chicago?
30:06I think he'll throw a pick or two, I think.
30:09I think this.
30:10You think he throws his first pick, too?
30:13Yeah, definitely.
30:14Yeah, I think.
30:15Listen, Ben Johnson, there's one thing that he loves to do.
30:18Loves to be aggressive, not only on offense, but on defense.
30:21He tells those guys, make plays on the football, even if you get beat.
30:26We got an offense that'll come right down the field, so don't worry about it.
30:30So, I think this game, I think, is going to get a little bit, I don't want to say out
30:34of hand.
30:35And for, I'm saying on both ends, I could see it getting a little bit wild.
30:39I could see a bunch of turnovers.
30:40I could see, you know, a lot of big plays, but also some mistakes, some turnovers.
30:45So, I think both teams are going to turn the ball over a little bit.
30:48So, I think Geno's going to throw his first pick of the season.
30:51But I think Geno's got to come out this week and do what he did last week.
30:55I don't think he's going to be able to against that secondary and that defense, but the mentality
31:00has to be there.
31:01I think you want him to drop back and just get the ball down the damn field.
31:06You have playmakers, let them make plays.
31:08As good as the Chicago secondary could be, they have young guys out there.
31:12I mean, arguably their best guy in the secondary is a rookie, Dylan Thienemann, who we were
31:16speaking about months ago, coming out of Oregon, going back to that school.
31:20But I think Geno's got to have a big week.
31:23And I think he can.
31:24I mean, I think he's set up to succeed.
31:27I mean, we talk about this offensive line having struggles, and we talk about, you know,
31:31the receivers, you know, 80 being hurt.
31:35Listen, you got Garrett Wilson.
31:36You got Sadiq.
31:37You're a veteran.
31:40Frank Reich knows what he's doing to a degree.
31:42Make plays.
31:43I mean, that's what this team's got to do.
31:44They got to go out and just make plays.
31:46I don't think this is – this isn't a vaunted defense by the Bears.
31:50I mean, I'm looking at some of the next-gen stuff.
31:51I mean, they're bottom five and, you know, second-worst tackling team on PFF.
31:56Like, they're secondary.
31:58As good as people think it is, their run defense is bottom of the league.
32:02They're 31st.
32:03They're 31st in tackling.
32:04Like, make something happen, you know?
32:06Yeah.
32:06They got to.
32:07And, look, Kaza, pick six.
32:08They have to, right.
32:10And on the flip side, like Kaza is saying, though, if the Jets can get a pick six,
32:14that's incredible.
32:14I just want an interception to get a short field for this offense, Kaza,
32:18and not leave points on the board.
32:20And let them actually take advantage and flip momentum.
32:23Because that's the one thing also, among other things.
32:27But that's the one thing I think this team is really missing on that
32:30complementary football side.
32:31If they create that turnover, even if it's not an interception, it's a fumble,
32:35and they turn the ball over and get a short field to this offense,
32:38and they can take advantage by scoring a touchdown, it flips everything in the game.
32:42Everyone's going, oh, man, what the hell just happened?
32:45And all of a sudden, the Chicago Bears are, like, reeling, and you're like,
32:49whoa, okay, the Jets are on us.
32:51Like, we got to change some things up, and the Jets are going to be playing with it.
32:54Like, hey, we're in this.
32:56We got this, fellas.
32:57Like, that changes the mentality, I think, so much in a game
33:01and what makes these games so fickle.
33:03You talked about them getting their first interception.
33:06Mika Fitzpatrick is practicing.
33:07It looks like he could be back.
33:09He's a key weapon on that defensive side of the ball
33:12that can help turn the football over.
33:14Do you expect the Jets' defense to play with even more improvement on the back end
33:17with Fitzpatrick returning, Kaz?
33:21We'll see.
33:22I don't think they've been that bad on the back end.
33:25You know, like, so I'm curious to see what Mika brings,
33:29and can he stay on the field?
33:30You worry about when a guy starts having soft tissue injuries,
33:33or is it going to be a recurring thing for him?
33:37You know, he brings a lot of experience back there.
33:39He's expecting to be the leader of the secondary.
33:41So, I think he should help, but I think Sisko acquitted himself pretty well here.
33:46They're playing here, and I think Belton has played well.
33:49So, it hasn't been as big of an issue as I thought it would be coming into the season.
33:53Ryan, I agree with you on flipping the field, and I would add to that
33:59they need to get their special teams figured out
34:01because they gave the Lions some field position last week.
34:05That was kind of a hidden story of the game.
34:08It's like the Lions got good field position, and the Jets are not getting good field position
34:12from their return game.
34:14And so, I wonder if Isaiah Williams, he's playing so much on offense right now.
34:18Is it hurting him in the return game?
34:20But they've got to get their coverage teams figured out
34:23and get some returns to, again, like what you're talking about,
34:26just flip the field and flip momentum, too.
34:29It's another area like turnovers as special teams you can do that in.
34:32Yeah, I mean, you're saying it's a sneaky thing.
34:34You could argue two of those huge returns from both weeks
34:38could have cost the Jets both those games, ultimately.
34:41I think it definitely cost them the Packers game
34:43because I think they would have won if they didn't give up that Skymore return.
34:46And, yeah, Detroit, if they don't get great field position again
34:49on a good return at the end, maybe the Jets can force a fourth down stop
34:53and go down the field and score that touchdown
34:55that we were expecting them to make at the end.
34:58Frankie, Ben Johnson and Aaron Glenn, they know each other so dang well.
35:01Spent four years together in Detroit, both as the O.C. and the D.C.
35:05Glenn knows Johnson's offense.
35:07Johnson knows Glenn's defense.
35:08And nobody knows who's playing quarterback yet for Chicago.
35:12So if you're Aaron Glenn, how are you attacking this Bears offense
35:17and what does Aaron Glenn need to do to really keep Ben Johnson's offense,
35:22which can explode for yards and points, in check?
35:27Are churches open on Saturday?
35:29Yes.
35:30Because Glenn needs to go to church on Saturday before that game.
35:35Listen.
35:35These jokes are awful, by the way.
35:37I'm just going to give you a...
35:37Apparently, I was a bad one.
35:38Sorry.
35:39I tried there.
35:40You got to try sometimes.
35:41No, but listen.
35:42Ben Johnson, to me, is the best offensive coordinator
35:47that I've ever seen in my life.
35:49And I know that's a bold statement, but I stand by it.
35:53Like, I love his passing concepts.
35:56I love his running concepts.
35:58I love how he uses his backs.
36:00I mean, you look at Swift and Monunga, it looks like, you know,
36:04how Gibbs and Montgomery looked.
36:05Like, you know, drive after drive.
36:07They're not as good.
36:08But I love how he tempos things, how he uses his tight ends, his receivers.
36:13Receivers are going into C-Gap and running these crossing routes.
36:17I mean, Glenn's...
36:19This is tough, man.
36:21This is tough.
36:21Now, to what you just said, he knows a lot of this stuff, you'd think, right?
36:26Or he does.
36:26I mean, you know these concepts.
36:28You practice against those concepts.
36:30So, you should have a little bit of an idea what's going to happen.
36:35But this is a tough task for Aaron Glenn.
36:38I think the game plan's got to be...
36:42Actually, I don't even know.
36:43I was going to say blitz them to death, but that might not work.
36:47So, I mean, you got to...
36:49Honestly, I would make plays on the football.
36:51So, if you...
36:52Instead of maybe being aggressive in the front seven,
36:54tell your guys in the back half, jump on some routes.
36:58Take a shot.
36:58Even if you give up a big play, it's okay.
37:01Get that interception.
37:03Because if the Jets get that interception,
37:05then as you're talking about, Rye,
37:06momentum starts maybe going in your favor, right?
37:09You got your first pick in 20 games.
37:11Guys start flying around.
37:12If Minka's back there, maybe he starts getting a little excited.
37:15Maybe he then comes out and gets a pick.
37:17So, I think the game plan for Glenn has to be...
37:21Don't be so aggressive in the front seven.
37:23Maybe keep it a little bit just base and chalk as to what you're going to do.
37:26But really have those guys, you know, taking risks back there.
37:30Because that's all you can do.
37:32I mean, take a shot if you miss or you get it wrong, whatever.
37:37They're probably going to come down the field and score anyway.
37:40So, instead of scoring in six plays, you have them scoring two.
37:43Whatever.
37:44But, you know, yeah.
37:45Yeah, Kaz, the Jets defense through three games
37:48have given up the second fewest yards in the NFL.
37:50They're seventh total in sacks with eight on the year.
37:53They give up 87.3 rush yards per game, which is the seventh fewest.
37:57However, Detroit did put up 31 last week.
37:59Gibbs went off for 99 rush yards and 65 receiving.
38:04The Bears, like Frankie said, they want to run the football.
38:07They're averaging 212 yards a game entering into week three.
38:10They had 184 after Philly.
38:13So, they're at the top of the league in terms of running the football.
38:17How does this Jets team keep that run game in check?
38:21Yeah, that's the question, Ryan.
38:23You know, if I had the answer, I'd probably be a defensive coordinator.
38:26But, Glenn better figure it out, right?
38:30Like, I think the question you ask, Frankie, like, what's the game plan?
38:35The game plan to me is you make the quarterback beat you.
38:38Whoever the quarterback is, Keenum or Bajan, like, okay, you beat us.
38:42But, like, you cannot lose this game because the Bears run for 200 yards.
38:46Right.
38:46Then that's on Aaron Glenn, right?
38:49Good point.
38:49And the Jets spent some money on the defensive line this offseason.
38:55And Imbari's here because of how he plays the run.
38:58They made the trade for Sweat, how he plays the run.
39:02Harrison Phillips is here because of how he plays the run.
39:05So, like, DeMario, how he plays the run.
39:07Onyemata's hurt, Frankie.
39:09Onyemata's hurt.
39:09So, he's here.
39:10But they spent money on him.
39:11But, so, it's on their offseason plan.
39:15And Aaron Glenn now.
39:16Like, we're going to find out if Tavondre Sweat is good.
39:21Right?
39:21Like, this is a good test.
39:22We're going to find out about it.
39:24And Imbari.
39:26And they just have to – I think they have to sell out to stop the run.
39:29And if Case Keenum can play like he did again Monday night, God bless him.
39:33But I just – you know, I don't see that happening.
39:37So, to me, I'd be like the old Belichick.
39:40Like, you're going to take their best thing away.
39:42Just try to take that running game away from them.
39:44It's a great point, Kaz.
39:45And I think that – I think it probably is the key to victory is if they stop –
39:49if they can hold the run in check, not limit any –
39:52limit the explosives on the ground and force the quarterback to beat them.
39:55Because I think Bajent and Keenum, they're backups for a reason.
39:57I know Bajent is really highly thought of as a backup.
39:59But he's coming off a concussion.
40:02You've got to be able to force him to beat you.
40:04And if that front seven can hold up against the run,
40:08it's going to affect the Bears' offensive game plan.
40:11Because Ben Johnson, Frankie, he does want to predicate a lot of that
40:14passing offense, off-play action.
40:15And getting those receivers in motion, especially, like you said,
40:18through the offensive line.
40:20And – go ahead.
40:23Ben Johnson, right?
40:24Frankie said, you know, the greatest offense coordinator he's ever seen
40:27wants to do the play action.
40:28Guess what?
40:29If Ryan Sampson was the offensive coordinator
40:31and he watched the film of the Jets linebackers trying to cover people
40:35last week, you'd be doing play action too, right?
40:38Yeah.
40:38Like, Jamie and Sherwood had a rough one.
40:42And Gibbs is unbelievable, tough cover for everybody.
40:45And so – but, like, yeah.
40:47I've been doing a lot of play action too, Ryan.
40:50It's –
40:51They have to –
40:51They should consider – just really quick.
40:53They should consider – and I've defended Jamie and Sherwood
40:56probably more than most people ever have.
40:59But they have to consider taking him off the field on Sunday,
41:03especially –
41:04They don't have anyone, though.
41:04They don't have anyone, Frankie.
41:06Like, you know what's a big injury?
41:06They can't put, like, a safety in there.
41:09Marcelino McFerry ball is a big injury.
41:11Yeah.
41:11You're right.
41:12Like, because he'd be the guy, I think.
41:14Or Kiko.
41:15He'd be the guy.
41:16He's hurt too.
41:17Those are big injuries right now.
41:18They just – the guys they have on the roster –
41:20I mean, I guess they could try the guy from Carolina, Wallace.
41:23Like, but I haven't seen him play personally.
41:26But I got to think he got caught at the end of training camp.
41:29There's issues there.
41:30What were you going to say, Ryan?
41:31Frankie, what was your plan?
41:33Well, I was going to say maybe put a safety in there.
41:35Or what about the corner?
41:38Like, put some –
41:39I'm saying –
41:39Brownie.
41:40Yeah, in, like, a nickel package or something.
41:42I don't know.
41:42Do something different, especially on third down.
41:45I get it because I do think there's an argument to me that you got to get
41:48Pons on the field now.
41:50Like, enough.
41:50Get him on the field.
41:51And so if Pons is in the nickel, Brownie's a tough dude.
41:54Maybe he could play some kind of, like, you know,
41:56what they used to do with Jamal Adams sort of thing.
41:58A little joke.
41:59But –
41:59Mika Fitzpatrick, you were talking about before, he is a good tackler too.
42:03Like, you would expect he's going to help them too.
42:06We just –
42:06but we just talked about how good their run game is.
42:08And not that Jamie and Sherwood is Ray Lewis, but are you going to put a DB
42:14in there now against that running attack?
42:16So I think they're in a really tough spot with Sherwood.
42:19Yeah.
42:20And they gave him that contract extension too.
42:22And it's not turned out well for him in terms of – since that extension.
42:26He hasn't –
42:27Well, it's turned out well for him, Ryan.
42:28Right.
42:29But I'm saying his on-the-field product for the Jets to return.
42:34Ryan, he's doing just fine.
42:35You know, he's having fun in the offseason.
42:37I'll tell you that.
42:37Oh, stop.
42:38The return on –
42:39What is?
42:40The return on the field.
42:42God bless Drew Rosenhaus.
42:43It's not been good, man.
42:44It's not been good.
42:46And this – that will be the focal point because it could turn into what Detroit
42:51happened again where if you have a missed tackle or two in the run game
42:54and Swift breaks off for a huge gainer, that's when Ben Johnson gets on you.
42:58He'll go no huddle.
42:59And the next thing you know, your play action, your safeties are going,
43:02what the hell's going on back there?
43:03And your linebackers are lost in space.
43:06God bless –
43:07By the way, just throwing this out there.
43:08Go ahead.
43:08DeMario's been a liability also in coverage.
43:11He's also 38 years old.
43:13Yeah, I mean, he's under been good.
43:14I understand that.
43:14But let's not – I mean, let's not just point – everyone's pointing the finger.
43:18I think DeMario, too, has been a little lost out there as well.
43:22Just throwing that out there.
43:23So, it's a linebacker issue in coverage for us, not just Sherwood.
43:27Yeah.
43:27A lot of talking points here.
43:29I think they –
43:29Go ahead.
43:30The tradeoff – the tradeoff, frankly, is DeMario has just been very good
43:33against the run and he brings intangibles.
43:36So, sort of counteracts it.
43:38Sherwood is just – you're right.
43:40Not a lot of positive there right now.
43:42Yeah.
43:44So, before we get into over-unders and picks, I do have a little bit of trivia
43:48for Kaz.
43:50Oh, boy.
43:50Here we go.
43:50Here we go.
43:51Sid Luckman.
43:52Sid Luckman.
43:53Not as difficult as last week.
43:55But, Kaz, can you tell me which receiver for the Jets all-time has the most
43:58touchdowns in a game versus the Chicago Bears?
44:02Well, they haven't played that much.
44:04Nope.
44:05And the Jets haven't had much success against them.
44:07Nope.
44:08I remember Santonio scored a touchdown.
44:11Sure did.
44:11In 2010.
44:1310.
44:15But, you know, the game – the last game they played, Rod,
44:18was a good offensive game for them.
44:20Mike White, you remember the week before,
44:22was the Patriots, Frankie, the 10-3 punt walk-off game.
44:26That was basically the end of Zach Wilson as a starter.
44:30And Mike White came in and he threw – I think he threw two touchdowns to
44:33Garrett Wilson.
44:33I'm going to go with Garrett Wilson, Ryan.
44:35Bang!
44:36Kaz talked through it.
44:37He got through it.
44:38Great, great pull by Kaz.
44:41Garrett Wilson in that game in 2022.
44:43He had 95 yards, two touchdowns, five receptions.
44:48Man, if he could repeat that, they'd have a real chance of winning this football game.
44:52All right, fellas, let's do some over-unders and picks.
44:55Last week on over-unders, A.D. Mitchell did not play,
44:58so we only had three recorded for us last week.
45:01Kaz was 2-1.
45:01I was 2-1.
45:02Frankie was 1-2.
45:05Let's do –
45:06Terrible with over-unders, guys.
45:09It's early.
45:10It's tough, man.
45:11It's early.
45:11I know it is.
45:12Kaz, Kaz, you're good, though.
45:14Ry, you're good, too.
45:14You guys are good with over-unders.
45:16All right, fellas.
45:17Geno Smith, DraftKings, has him at 230 and a half passing yards.
45:21Kaz.
45:23You're so good with these numbers.
45:24They're so good.
45:28It's going to be right around there, I feel like.
45:31I'll go over, Ry.
45:32Okay.
45:33I'm going to go over as well because I think, like you're saying,
45:36the run game is not going to get going against this Bears defense,
45:38and they're going to have to rely on Geno to air it out.
45:41Frankie.
45:42I'm going to go over as well.
45:43Okay.
45:44I think he'll get a lot of those yards, by the way,
45:47in the fourth quarter.
45:48Probably.
45:49Just throwing that out there.
45:51Braylon Allen.
45:52They got him at 55 and a half rushing yards.
45:55Kaz.
45:56It's a big number, kind of.
45:59Under.
46:00I kind of agree, but because it's such a big number,
46:04something tells me that they actually have some kind of data
46:07on the Bears rush defense that we don't know yet.
46:10And Saquon did rip off a couple last week.
46:13I'm going to go over with Braylon.
46:14For some reason, I think he might break off like a 30-yard run.
46:18Frankie.
46:19You know what?
46:20I'm going way over, guys.
46:22All right.
46:22This is the Braylon week.
46:23Let's go.
46:23Let's go.
46:24I like it.
46:25He was like the number one.
46:26But you know what?
46:26Go ahead.
46:27If you look at what I just mentioned before,
46:30I'm going on PFF.
46:31Bears rush defense is 31st,
46:33and they're the 31st tackling team, too.
46:3631st in tackling.
46:37So, to what you just said, Rye,
46:38maybe there's something there.
46:39Maybe there's something there,
46:40but also this Jets offensive line cannot open any holes.
46:43But let's see.
46:44That is true.
46:44Let's see.
46:46Frankie Kyes, who we just talked about in trivia.
46:48Garrett Wilson, they got him at 80-and-a-half receiving yards.
46:52Kyes.
46:52Wow.
46:54Over.
46:55Ooh.
46:56Wow.
46:56I like it.
46:56I like it.
46:57I got to go over if I'm giving Guccino Smith the over in yards.
47:00Frankie?
47:01I'm going to go under there.
47:02I've never heard of Garrett.
47:03You know you went under last week, too?
47:04You know that?
47:06I mean, I'm not surprised.
47:08But, um.
47:10The guy who says,
47:12I want Garrett Wilson to go deep,
47:13and he finally does, Kyes, last week.
47:16Did you see?
47:17By the way, did you guys see PFF?
47:18He's the number one rated deep threat in the NFL.
47:20Just throwing that out there, guys.
47:23But you took the under in yards after you went on this whole diatribe about he should be the deep
47:28threat.
47:29Yeah.
47:29Well, you know, listen.
47:30I just have never heard an over-under with a Jets receiver maybe at 80-and-a-half.
47:36So I'm just going to.
47:37I'll be a little conservative here.
47:39That's a big number.
47:40You've never mentioned eight, right?
47:41Yeah.
47:41Kaz, do you remember 80 with Garrett ever?
47:43No.
47:43You're talking about 45 last year.
47:45Maybe Vegas knows something out here, huh?
47:4880 Mitchell's out.
47:49It's going to be Geno to Garrett and Sadiq.
47:52Sadiq the freak.
47:53All right, fellas.
47:54Since they don't have Sadiq's over-under,
47:56because I think they were still waiting Kaz on his injury report,
47:59because he didn't practice.
48:00Is he going to play this weekend?
48:02Yeah, yeah.
48:03Yeah, I think he's – I don't think – my understanding is it's not a big deal.
48:06I think it was his back was listed, but he was limited.
48:10You know, I think the way you read these things, guys, is like,
48:13was there a tight end move that they made and they didn't.
48:15Like, you see all the movement on the offensive guard right now.
48:20They signed practice squad guys.
48:22That's – for those – you're looking for clues?
48:24Dylan Parham isn't playing, right?
48:25Like, I don't know when Dylan Parham's playing again,
48:28because they're making all these moves.
48:29If they didn't do anything at tight end, so, you know, he'll be fine.
48:33So, with that, I'm going to ask you both to give me an anytime touchdown score.
48:37I'll start with you, Frankie, on this one.
48:39Who's scoring a touchdown in this game?
48:41It could be a bear or a jet.
48:44You know what, man?
48:45I'm going to Old Faithful, baby.
48:48Jeremy Ruckert is doing it again.
48:52I don't hate it.
48:53The opposite of Old Faithful.
48:54I don't hate it.
48:55No, I – listen, Kaz, when we went to camp,
48:57I met Ruckert for a quick second.
49:00What a nice guy.
49:01Just a cool dude.
49:02He's a great guy.
49:03Great guy.
49:04I like him so much more now after meeting him.
49:07It's funny how that works.
49:09I hope he –
49:12No, seriously.
49:13He's a cool dude.
49:14You would be a very good reporter, Frankie.
49:17I wouldn't.
49:18I like him because he's nice.
49:20No, he was super cool.
49:22He was super – like, he was warm and friendly.
49:24Yeah, yeah.
49:25He's like – he's chill.
49:26Lending her stone.
49:28And he's a – he's a very big Yankees fan.
49:31Mm-hmm.
49:32Oh, okay.
49:32That's like him even more.
49:33We talked yesterday after game one, and he was excited.
49:36But, you know, he can't go to the games because it's during the week.
49:42But I remember last – or it was two – I guess two years ago in the World Series,
49:46he was asking me, he's like, do you think I'll get crap if I go to the game?
49:51And I'm like, on a Tuesday, they're day off.
49:52I'm like, is he day off?
49:53Like, you can go to the game.
49:54And he was at – he was at one of the big Yankee games,
49:57and then he was at the Knicks game four.
50:00He was out – he was in the garden that night.
50:02So he's a big, like, New York sports fan.
50:04Oh, he's Long Island-owned Lindenhurst.
50:06Long Island guy, yeah.
50:07I saw Ruckert actually at a Live After Five in my hometown – not my hometown,
50:12but where I currently live in Patchogue.
50:13He was out with his wife – I think it was like a month ago – or two months ago
50:18in August.
50:19And he's a great guy.
50:21He's very well-known on Long Island circles, especially since he grew up a Jets fan
50:25and he's playing for his team.
50:27Kaz, give me an anytime touchdown score for this one.
50:30Braylon Allen.
50:31Ooh.
50:32Nice.
50:33There we go.
50:34That's a good one.
50:34I'm going to go with Garrett Wilson.
50:37I think Garrett clearly has had success.
50:40It's not the same team.
50:42What are the odds of that?
50:43What are we – do you have to make people money, Ryan,
50:46or are you just trying to be right?
50:48You know, Kaz, I'm trying to be right.
50:50I take Jeremy Ruckert and he takes Garrett Wilson.
50:53Unbelievable.
50:53I don't know.
50:54Garrett Wilson's like, what is Garrett Wilson?
50:56Minus 110 anytime touchdown or what?
50:59Plus 155.
51:00Probably higher.
51:02Oh, wow.
51:02Plus 155?
51:04Okay.
51:04You know what's funny?
51:05What's Braylon Allen?
51:05You know what's funny?
51:06Wait, what?
51:07Say that again, Ryan?
51:08Plus 155.
51:09Sorry.
51:09And for all the crap that Kaz is giving me, Braylon Allen is plus 125.
51:16So take that, Kaz.
51:18You're not making money for the fans.
51:20I'm making money for the fans.
51:21He got you.
51:22He got you.
51:23Ruckert's got you plus 700, so Ruckert's got you probably need some money there.
51:26Ruckert's plus 400, I'm calling it.
51:28Plus 750 for Ruckert.
51:30Wow.
51:31There you go.
51:31There you go.
51:32You know what's crazy?
51:33You know what's crazy?
51:33I'm putting money on that.
51:34I swear, Kaz knows his stuff and he's predicting a Jets pick six.
51:40The Jets have better odds on defense to score a touchdown in the game than Jeremy Ruckert.
51:44They're plus 650 and Ruckert's plus 750.
51:49How do they come up with this stuff?
51:51Like, how do they come up with the anytime touchdown?
51:52How could Garrett Wilson be 155?
51:56And Braylon's plus 125.
51:58But yeah, it's crazy.
51:59Crazy.
52:00Ryan's making you money.
52:02Kaz is not.
52:03All right.
52:03All right.
52:04All right.
52:05Let's do some predictions here.
52:07Frankie, take the floor, man.
52:09What do you got in this game and who's winning it?
52:13You know what?
52:15I'm in a very weird mood today.
52:17And I'm going to do the unthinkable, everyone.
52:21I'm going to get straight to the point.
52:23The Jets are winning this football game.
52:26The Jets are winning this game.
52:28Aaron Glenn is finally going to get his signature win.
52:31Ben Johnson coming off a big week.
52:33I think they're going to be a little, oh, they're going to overlook us.
52:36They're going to look to next week.
52:37Chicago, you think they care about the Jets?
52:39Who are the Jets?
52:40Ben Johnson didn't even want to take an interview here.
52:43But then he goes on our social media account and he's doing a whole thing with Eric Allen for two
52:47hours.
52:50The Jets are going to win this football game.
52:52It's going to be a close game.
52:53We're going to win it at the end.
52:54I think we have enough on the ground with Braylon Allen and Isaiah Davis hopefully getting in there a bit.
53:01I love what Geno's been doing.
53:03I don't think Chicago's as good as people think, especially without Caleb.
53:07If they're going to play with a backup quarterback, you're playing with a backup quarterback.
53:12I mean, Caleb Williams is the first overall pick for a reason.
53:15Caleb Williams can make any throw on a football field.
53:17You're going from that to Bajan or Case.
53:24Yeah, I don't think they're going to have enough.
53:27I think the Jets, after these last two losses, and that's how football kind of works.
53:32I think two winnable games, definitely the Packers game was winnable for sure.
53:37We had a 90% chance to win.
53:38I think you kind of get one that you should have gotten.
53:41So I think the Jets are going to go into the Cleveland game at home.
53:45I think they're going to be 2-2.
53:46And I think they're going to win this game.
53:47I really do.
53:48I can't believe I'm saying that.
53:49What's the score?
53:50My score prediction?
53:5127-24, Jets.
53:53Wow.
53:54Wow, wow, wow.
53:55Kaz, how do you follow that one, though?
53:59It's tough to follow, right?
54:00Tough to follow, Frankie, coming in with the big prediction.
54:04But I'll tell you what, right?
54:05I get, you know how many emails I get every week, angry emails about my predictions every week.
54:13Like, I write so many words a week and talk so many words a week about the Jets, and all
54:18people care about is the stupid predictions.
54:21And, you know, I'm in last place in the post standings right now.
54:24I'm not good at these predictions.
54:26You're 2-1 on the season, for what it's worth.
54:29You're 2-1 here on the show.
54:322-1 on the Jets games.
54:34But overall, NFL picks.
54:35I'm terrible right now.
54:38I'm with Frankie.
54:39Jets are going to win this game.
54:40Let's go!
54:42What?
54:44Wow.
54:45Yeah.
54:45What's your score?
54:46Yeah, I can't explain it.
54:48I just think it's the NFL.
54:50I think it's, you know, craziness.
54:52And I feel like the Jets are close, and they're going to break through.
54:55Backup quarterback.
54:56All three wins last year came against backup quarterbacks.
54:59And I think they get their first, you know, they get their second one this year against another backup quarterback.
55:05But I'm going to go, what'd you do, Frankie?
55:07You did 27-24?
55:09I'm close to that.
55:11I'm going to go Jets 27, Bears 20.
55:14Wow.
55:15Wow.
55:16Wow, wow, wow.
55:18And, you know, one of those touchdowns is a pick six from Dane Belton.
55:22And I guess one was a Braylon Allen touchdown, too.
55:25So, there you go.
55:28How you following this?
55:29Is it going to be three for three?
55:31We were all on the lines last week.
55:34And we were smart to pick them.
55:37Man, I thought for sure you guys were both going to pick the Bears this week.
55:42And I was going to be the only one on the Jets.
55:43So, put me on the board for the New York Jets.
55:46The Jets are going to win.
55:47It's a clean sweep across the board.
55:48The gang's all here.
55:49The Jets are going to win this week.
55:51They got a backup quarterback, like Kaz is saying.
55:53And I really do believe that this is the week, like Kaz said, they get that interception.
55:58Minka Fitzpatrick's going to be a big key.
55:59And I think he might be the one that gets that interception this week.
56:02The entire team's going to be like, yes, over it.
56:06And I think, ultimately, if they can run the ball, I'm not saying 100 yards, but give me like 75,
56:1280 yards with Braylon Allen Frankie,
56:14this Jets offense should be able to do a lot of things against it.
56:17I also think Sadiq the Freak is going to have another big game.
56:20Give me the Jets.
56:21Jets, 28, Bears, 17.
56:26Wow.
56:2728, 17.
56:29Double digits.
56:31That's right.
56:31Yeah, a little blowout there.
56:32That's right.
56:33A mini blowout.
56:33There you go.
56:34There you go.
56:35Wow.
56:35I thought we were all –
56:36People are –
56:38Sorry, guys.
56:39People are logging into their accounts right now, betting on the Bears with everything they have.
56:44Betting on the Bears and Braylon Allen any type touchdowns.
56:47This is going to bite us all in the ass.
56:49I just know it right now.
56:50Yes, we can feel it coming.
56:52You can feel it coming.
56:52But look, if Glenn wants to turn this season around and turn the narrative around about what is currently being
56:59painted on him,
57:00win this game.
57:02Win it.
57:03Yep.
57:03Show that you can do it.
57:06I'm tired – we are all tired of the big ships turn slow.
57:10Guess what?
57:11We're in the midst of year two with you.
57:13You have gotten – like Kaz, you said, they invested so heavily into this defense to bring in the veteran
57:18players that you wanted.
57:20This is the week where you have to be able to stop the guy that you practiced against every single
57:25week.
57:26The guy that you know his offense so well and that got a head coaching job the same offseason that
57:31you did.
57:32The guy that went to an incredible playoff run last year with his number one pick.
57:36Now it's your turn with your second quarterback and your heavily invested defense win a football game.
57:43Beat the Bears and really have us all thinking, you know what, maybe they are turning this around.
57:49Maybe they do have a chance to win a lot of football games.
57:53This is the week to show it.
57:54Guys, that's an episode.
57:55Go ahead, Frankie.
57:56I'll say this really quick.
57:58Last thing.
57:58I think – and I tweeted this.
58:00The Jets are moving in the right direction.
58:02They definitely are.
58:04The question is how fast are they moving in that direction?
58:07You know, if I'm walking straight but I'm at a pace like a turtle, it'll take me a lot longer
58:13than if I'm going like a hare or whatever the thing is.
58:16The tortoise and the hare.
58:17That was a horrible comparison.
58:18Where are we going?
58:19No, but it's true.
58:20Are you on a scooter in this projection, in Aruba, this comparison?
58:26If I'm on a scooter, I'm not making it towards the end.
58:30You know what, guys?
58:31We have a perfect example here.
58:33That's what the Jets are.
58:34They're Frankie on a scooter in Aruba right now.
58:36That's a good example.
58:37That's a good example of what they are.
58:40No, but the team I think is – somebody asked me the other day, do you think Aaron Glenn is
58:45doing a better job as a coach than he was last year?
58:48Absolutely.
58:48The team looks better.
58:50That's on the coach.
58:51Now, whether that's because of Frank Reich or whatever, the team's going in the right direction, and that's really all
58:57you can ask for.
58:58Is it going to be Glenn?
58:59Who knows?
58:59But this is the week, right?
59:01I kind of agree with you.
59:02This is the week that they just have to get it done, and I think they will.
59:05I think this will be his signature win.
59:07And remember, Minnesota beat the Bears a few weeks ago.
59:11The Bears only scored three points.
59:13So, I think if Aaron Glenn goes in his bag a little bit and looks at what Flores did, ironically
59:18blitzed them to death.
59:19Couldn't really – Eagles tried and couldn't do that last week.
59:22But go in your Flores bag, Aaron Glenn, and see if you can find some stuff there because there's some
59:28tape out of this Bears offense not looking all that good.
59:31And, again, they're going to have their backup quarterback line.
59:33That's a show.
59:34That's a preview.
59:35Kaz, we're looking forward to your coverage.
59:37Enjoy the game over in Chicago, and we'll catch up with you next week.
59:40Thanks, fellas.
