00:00Welcome to your afternoon weather update and if you're watching on YouTube, do hit subscribe.
00:05Now the weather's calmed down a little bit compared to yesterday, but don't get used to it.
00:09There's more wet and windy weather on the way.
00:12This swirl of cloud out across Denmark is an area of low pressure that brought the strong winds yesterday.
00:18Still a few showers across the UK today, but look at this.
00:20Out in the Atlantic, a much larger area of cloud is developing, intensifying.
00:26It's another area of low pressure and that spells wet and windy weather for most of us tonight and for a part of tomorrow.
00:32Ahead of that, already streaming some cloud into the southwest.
00:36And we do, as I say, have a few showers under some thicker cloud over parts of northern England and southern Scotland.
00:42And showers continue to feed in on a brisk northerly breeze over northern Scotland.
00:47But much of the east coast of Scotland and a good part of England and Wales.
00:50Staying dry, staying fine this afternoon.
00:52The wind's lighter too and the same goes for Northern Ireland.
00:55With a bit of brightness and a bit of hazy sunshine, temperatures getting up to 80, 90, maybe 20 Celsius across the southwest.
01:02And it feels warmer than yesterday because those winds are lighter.
01:06But notice that thickening cloud coming into the southwest.
01:09It is going to produce some outbreaks of rain getting to southern parts of Wales by the evening rush hour.
01:14And then, well, just kind of getting set in across Northern Ireland, all of Wales, southwest England before midnight.
01:20And then continuing to track into southern Scotland and eventually central and then parts of eastern England by morning.
01:26Notice the brighter colours, some quite heavy bursts of rain, particularly over parts of Wales.
01:31And we're concerned about the rain building up in places here over the course of Wednesday.
01:36It could cause a little bit of disruption.
01:39Certainly also going to bring some milder air.
01:40So it won't be a cold night across the southwest, temperatures holding up in the teens.
01:44But before the rain arrives with some clear skies as the winds ease off, rural parts of northern Scotland could dip down to single figures.
01:52A dry, bright start here.
01:53Elsewhere, pretty soggy morning rush hour, morning commute, a lot of spray, a lot of surface water on the roads.
01:59And that rain is likely to linger over parts of Wales in particular through the day.
02:05There'll be further spells of rain elsewhere.
02:08Could start to clear from southwest Scotland, should ease from northern Ireland as well.
02:11Parts of southern England may not see too much in the way of rain, but it will be pretty glum here.
02:17Now, the main points for concern are across Wales.
02:19So that rain building up has been a very wet few weeks.
02:22And so this rain could cause a few issues.
02:24The potential for some flooding, certainly some travel disruption is possible.
02:28So if you're heading out, then just check the roads or the rail before you do so.
02:33It'll be quite a windy day as well as that rain, making it all feel pretty cool, pretty miserable, despite temperatures actually being a little bit above average.
02:41And through the afternoon, that rain should clear further from southern Scotland, northern England, and good chance of some bright or sunny spells coming in.
02:48Staying pretty blustery in the far northwest.
02:51Fairly brisk winds across the south also.
02:53But as I said, coming up from the south, so bringing mild air.
02:55So we could easily see those temperatures more widely, up to 20 Celsius.
02:59Some sunny spells in northeast England, maybe 21 degrees here.
03:03But again, not feeling all that mild because of the wind and the rain.
03:07And that rain, notice, still persisting into the evening across parts of west and south Wales in particular.
03:12Hence why we have those warnings in place.
03:14But now rain extending across parts of the Midlands too.
03:18This zone's staying pretty damp, but the rain easing off a little bit as we go through Wednesday evening with some clearer skies.
03:24But that rain is being caused by this wriggling, what we call a waving weather front.
03:29It's likely to edge a little further north through Thursday.
03:31And then it has another little ripple on it for Friday.
03:34And it's going to kind of split the UK into three zones because to the south, actually, we'll see some warmer air moving in for a time.
03:41Until it kind of develops into a low pressure system that's likely to bring some wet and windy weather as we head into the weekend.
03:48So there's a lot going on with the weather this week.
03:50You want to keep up to date.
03:52The weather warnings, of course, they're on our app and on our website.
03:55So the best thing to do, as I said at the start, if you're watching this on YouTube, then do hit subscribe.
