00:00As busy as the east coast is, we're also seeing very rough surf along Mexico's Pacific coast from Hurricane Polo.
00:06We have a loaded forecast here between the Atlantic and the Pacific,
00:09so we're going to step away from the nor'easter just for a moment to look at what's going on.
00:13In the Pacific, we have three hurricanes.
00:15Two of these will be highly destructive and very dangerous.
00:19Two of these are going to be impacting land.
00:21We have Hurricane Polo. It's going to be making landfall in Mexico.
00:25Eventually, early next week, we have Hurricane Nolo.
00:27It's going to bring flooding rain, potential for feet and feet of rain in parts of the Big Island of
00:34Hawaii.
00:34Hurricane Odalis, less of an issue, still a photogenic storm.
00:37We're watching for moderate chance of development in between
00:39and a high likelihood of development off to the south of Mexico's coast as well.
00:43Nolo here is going to bring multiple days of a very, very dangerous upslope flow,
00:49bringing tremendous rainfall, feet and feet of rain on the eastern slopes of the Big Island.
00:53And look at this. We're going to go from, well, all the way up to a Category 3 hurricane
00:58as this just grinds away at the Big Island of Hawaii.
01:01Huge concerns there. It will drift west.
01:03We will see some impacts in some of the other islands as well because of its path,
01:07but by far the greatest wind threat and rainfall threat, especially rain,
01:11will be on the Big Island of Hawaii.
01:13We're looking at gusts of 60 to 80 miles per hour.
01:15There will also be a storm surge, three to six foot storm surge,
01:18on the southeast-facing slide of the Big Island.
01:20But by far the biggest, biggest issue here is going to be rain, widespread area with two to three feet
01:25of rain.
01:26And there is a potentially devastating AccuWeather local storm max of 55 inches.
01:32If somebody sees that, this will become a top two or three rainfall producer for Hawaii history.
01:39So we're certainly rooting against that AccuWeather local storm max,
01:42but we will see feet of rain here and a high risk, an extreme risk, one, two, three, four.
01:47If you count the colors, the deep red, that's the fourth on the scale here.
01:51And we're looking at an AccuWeather real impact scale rating for hurricanes of two.
01:56So a very dangerous storm.
01:58Polo, also a major headline here.
02:01This is the one that became, again, a huge newsmaker when it rapidly escalated to an intense Category 5 hurricane
02:08earlier
02:08with 180-mile-per-hour winds and the second-lowest barometric pressure among any Central or East Pacific storm.
02:14That was a couple days ago.
02:16Still a nasty, nasty storm.
02:18It is about 150, 180 now, about 200 miles west of Mexico's coastline,
02:23but it's going to hook it back into the Baja California Peninsula,
02:25wrapping around west and then north of Cabo San Lucas with fierce wind here,
02:29100-plus-mile-per-hour gusts, likely for landfall and also some devastating rainfall in some areas.
02:36Now, the storm is going to be moving, so we're not going to see the same type of rainfall that
02:40Hawaii will see,
02:41but still we'll be dealing with a 6- to 10-foot storm surge on parts of the Baja California
02:46Peninsula.
02:47And this storm will also bring an AccuWeather real impact scale rating for hurricanes of two.
02:54It will also bring a flood threat to the interior southwest
02:57and then eventually some beneficial rain to the south-central U.S. in the early to mid part of next
03:02week.
03:02So, so much to talk about.
