00:00The East Pacific is very active. Central Pacific increasingly active as well. We got Lowell, Karina, as well as Marie.
00:07We're going to be watching for new development as well farther to the east. But let's take a look at
00:11what's going on here with Lowell first because this system is a beast and it's going to be sideswiping Hawaii
00:17as we get into the end of this holiday weekend. Labor Day, look out. You can see a big dip
00:23in the jet stream here that's going to allow this to pull north here pretty sharply.
00:28Kind of an unusual path, almost moving directly west and then hooking it straight north for a time as that
00:34upper level flow is going to steer this one.
00:36So it's been a powerful storm. And again, on the brink of Category 5 for big chunks of its life
00:42cycle, it has been a Category 5 at times.
00:44And you're going to see this basically continue to move west for a short term and then curve sharply north.
00:50And it's going to be making its closest pass through the western Hawaiian Islands, a bit west of Lihue as
00:58we move through Monday, Monday, Monday afternoon and evening.
01:01So there's going to be some wind out there, 40 to 60 mile per hour gusts there.
01:05But the rainfall is going to be a bit more widespread and that's going to impact probably all of the
01:10Hawaiian Islands.
01:11It's a large storm. And this time we're going to have strong flow from the south on the eastern side
01:15of the storm.
01:16So that's going to lead to the heaviest rain on the south facing slopes of the volcanic summits.
01:22And we will see some areas with four to eight inches of rain in some of the harder hit areas.
01:26So because of this, the AccuWeather real impact scale rating for hurricanes is one for Lowell in Hawaii, especially on
01:33Monday.
01:34Carina, decent looking storm, a little more dryers beginning to work its way in.
01:38That's going to be weakening as it approaches the northeast side of Hawaii and it will stay north.
01:42And Marie is a large force in the east Pacific.
01:46While the center of the storm is going to stay far from California, some upper level flow is going to
01:50scoop some of the moisture into parts of southwestern sections of the U.S.
