00:00He became everything you wanted a franchise quarterback and now poof, it's an official
00:05shoulder shrug and I don't know and that's not good at the most important position in all of
00:12sports. So this is so damaging physically, mentally, emotionally for every single Giants
00:19fan, for Jackson Dard and his future is officially now a question and I hope that there will be a
00:28moment where we have to burn this take.
00:37If you get punched in the gut, are you going down? Are you going to crumple to the ground
00:41as Jack Harbaugh would say, like a sack of sour apples and just fall to the ground
00:45and just rot away and wither away into the dust? Is that what you're going to do?
00:51You heard John Harbaugh there. He has no plans to pack it in. Giants fans, however, might feel
00:56differently hearing the breaking news this afternoon. Jackson Dard is having season-ending
01:04knee surgery. He has suffered damage to his meniscus, PCL, MCL. Brutal. Fears confirmed.
01:15And this is a killer, a killer for the Giants fans, a killer for the Giants. And yes, John
01:21Harbaugh is going to quote his dad and doesn't want a sack of sour apples. And I get it. And
01:25that's part of the beauty of John Harbaugh. But one of the reasons why the Giants fans felt so great
01:31about this season, finally, after 10 years after the team got rid of Tom Coughlin, they were going to
01:37have a real head coach with a real quarterback and a duo that was going to propel them to great
01:44heights in 2026. But really, special things in 2027. And here's the deal when it comes to the Giants
01:52right now. And this news sucks. The season is over for Dart. Jackson Dart is now a variable for the
02:02Giants for next year. I don't say that with joy. I don't say that with jubilation. I think it's pretty
02:08well documented here on Shine Time how much I love Jackson Dart as a player. I love his arm, his
02:13accuracy.
02:13I love his athleticism. And I love his ability to survive and thrive under Harbaugh, under Nagy,
02:22under Roman, Callahan, the entire coaching staff. But this was the year to put it together. This
02:27was the year to figure it out. This was the year for Dart and neighbors to get a rapport.
02:32You realize Jackson Dart and Link neighbors have played 70 snaps together? I mean, that's unfathomable.
02:38They're going to go into 2027 playing only 70 snaps together. So Jackson Dart is going to have knee
02:45surgery in late September 2026. He's a sensational freakish athlete. What is that going to look like
02:54for Jackson Dart in 2027? And the Giants can't find out. That's the issue. I'll give you a quick
03:04example. Michael Pennix Jr., the Atlanta Falcons coming off of knee surgery. And it took time. And
03:13Dart is a much better athlete than Pennix. But, you know, in terms of the road to recovery, in terms
03:18of
03:18waiting for your first-round pick to become healthy going into year three, which it is for Michael
03:24Pennix Jr. And look at where the Falcons are right now in terms of a mess of a quarterback position.
03:29So I hope that we flash back at some point to this conversation and Jackson Dart comes back and
03:37he's on track and he becomes everything that I said he was going to be this season. And I think
03:42what's so soul-sucking here, if you're Harbaugh, a diehard Giants fan, you've had to deal with
03:48awful coaches, awful quarterback play, just awful offense for the last decade. I mean,
03:55you've got to witness what it looked like in week one. See, it's one thing if you just have
04:00off-season hype. Then it's a hypothetical. It's an educated guess. It was off-season hype. It was
04:06off-season hope. And then the reality of opening nights. We all witness it. And we can't pretend
04:11it didn't happen. That's what makes this painful news even more painful. Because Jackson Dart looked
04:17perfect. He pitched the perfect game against the Dallas Cowboys. Toughness. Salting the game away in
04:25the fourth quarter. Accuracy. Arm strength. Getting the ball to likely for a couple of touchdowns. Getting
04:30the ball to neighbors. Making great decisions. And now, this, you go from that and beating the Cowboys
04:39on national TV to not knowing if he's going to be available or ever the same again for 2027.
04:48So, this is now the portion of the program. And it's under the umbrella in a lot of ways of
04:53too soon, but that's my job. Everything's on the table. A veteran. And I'm talking about next
05:00off-season. A veteran who can compete. The ultimate veteran insurance. Or, depending upon the win-loss record,
05:08drafting a quarterback in the first round. A franchise quarterback. We could talk about
05:15Eli's nephew. We could talk about another Ole Miss quarterback named Chambliss, who's a little older,
05:21but would be perfect for the Giants in this offense. This is now the topic for conversation.
05:28Because Jackson Dart goes from Dallas Cowboy game hero week one. Sky's the limit. Everything you want
05:35in a franchise quarterback. The arm strength. The athleticism. Go back to our Phil Simms interview
05:41from earlier this week. Talking about how Jackson Dart is dreamy. And Phil didn't think that when he
05:46was drafted. He became everything you want in a franchise quarterback. And now, poof!
05:51It's an official shoulder shrug. And I don't know. And that's not good at the most important position
05:58in all of sports. So this is so damaging physically, mentally, emotionally, for every single Giants fan,
06:07for Jackson Dart. And his future is officially now a question. And I hope that there will be a moment
06:16where we have to burn this take. I hope that we look back and say, man, Jackson Dart was better
06:23than
06:23ever when he came back from major knee surgery. But nobody knows. And the Giants have to prepare
06:31for that next offseason. So I'm just telling you, don't be surprised. Because this is now the John
06:37Harbaugh Giants. And he takes this job because he believed that 2026 would be a really strong,
06:43special building block year. The Giants, with Dart and Harbaugh, were prepared to do some special
06:49things in 2027. We're going to go back into the whole neighbor's dart, can they develop chemistry
06:54conversation again for the third straight year. This is a killer, an absolute killer for darts and
07:03the big picture here for the New York football Giants. So the Giants are rolling with Jameis Winston
07:08for now. Is Jameis feeling the pressure? Pressure is for the unprepared. Okay, I am ready every
07:16single week. Will your Friday be exactly the same as it was last week? If you don't ask me questions
07:23that everyone else has asked me, and I can get my massage in, get my needles, I'll actually be right
07:29on time for it. Yes, no, I'm telling you, it doesn't change for me. I love this. I'm so grateful
07:37to wear
07:39this uniform, do my job, man. Nothing really changes for me. Maybe more text
07:46to the receivers, just in terms of a communication standpoint. But outside of that, in terms of
07:51studying, it's the same every week. So a couple of things here can be true. Number one, I think the
07:58New York football Giants, with Jameis Winston, have one of the best backup quarterbacks in the league.
08:04Seriously. And I understand we all watched the game, you saw the stats, and Jameis Winston on Monday
08:10night couldn't hit the broad side of a barn. 11 of 27, and it's brutal. Passer rating of 37.7.
08:17And if you watch the game, whether allowed, did he even complete 11 passes? Like, he was that bad.
08:24Jameis Winston is a great backup quarterback. And that's, you know, might sound like, you know,
08:29jumbo shrimp, an oxymoron. He is a great backup quarterback. And you want him as your backup
08:34quarterback because Jameis does not lack confidence. Jameis historically will certainly air it out.
08:41It could equal an interception. It could equal a touchdown. Jameis is always going to bring
08:45something to the table. His receivers love him. His teammates love him. You know, you can't miss a
08:50moment when Jameis Winston plays. A band's going to be playing, either yours or theirs. That's the way
08:55it works with Jameis Winston. I was stunned how awful he was on Monday Night Football because
09:01I do think he's one of the better, one of the best backup quarterbacks in the NFL.
09:07Now, the Giants have to pursue a backup to the backup. They need another quarterback.
09:11So, I think we have to put together a smart and savvy list, okay? You know, I don't have time
09:18for
09:18people to start throwing out names that make no sense or, you know, Joe Flacco has a relationship
09:24on a championship with Harbaugh. Why the hell would the Bengals trade their backup quarterback?
09:28That doesn't translate. You know, the Philadelphia Eagles are not helping the New York football
09:33Giants. You could stop with any of that. So, we put together a list of guys that I would
09:38consider as backup quarterback options that, to me, make sense. Number one is Jimmy Garoppolo
09:44because he's not on a team. And I'm a big Jimmy G fan. If Jimmy Garoppolo is your backup quarterback,
09:50that's a good thing. He's reliable. He's been in Super Bowls, big games, understands pressure.
09:54He's super smart, has no ego. Jimmy G is a backup quarterback for Jameis Winston. It's logical.
10:01Okay. I understand the inclusion of Cooper Rush might feel dirty because you've watched him in
10:07the first two weeks of the season. Like, Shine, you okay? Cooper Rush and John Harbaugh have a
10:12relationship. He's a backup quarterback for the Baltimore Ravens. There's a lot of logic there.
10:16And Michael Penix Jr. is back as a starter. It sounds like Tua is going to be healthy enough to
10:19be the backup.
10:20So, if you can get Cooper Rush for a seventh-round pick, let's have a conversation about it.
10:26I don't think the Chiefs are ready necessarily to trade Justin Fields. But Patrick Mahomes is clearly
10:35ahead of the curve physically. You know, Justin Fields played for Matt Nagy in Chicago. So,
10:45he doesn't have to learn an offense. So, that makes sense. And listen, I hate where J.J. McCarthy
10:52is even on this list. You know, I almost feel compelled to kind of reset my J.J. McCarthy take
10:56here. I loved J.J. McCarthy in the draft a few years ago. Heck, I thought the Giants should have
11:01considered him instead of Malik Nabors. And then the Vikings picked him and then his entire career was
11:05ruined when he got hurt in August before his rookie year. And then J.J. McCarthy was so bad coming
11:12off
11:12of a year where his knee was shredded. And, you know, he didn't practice. He didn't play at all
11:17in as a rookie. It's never happened before in the history of the NFL at the quarterback position,
11:20not practicing, not playing in a one game or one practice. And he was so bad and so spooked,
11:28he got everyone fired. I mean, of course, he'd off a men. So, the general manager can,
11:32the staff was canned in the front office because McCarthy was that bad. Now, if you can get J.J.
11:38McCarthy, who's buried on the depth chart behind Kyler Murray, who's entrenched as the starter for
11:43this year, and Carson Wentz, who is a very reliable backup of the Vikings, are 2-0 and trying to
11:48make
11:48the playoffs this year, if you can find the way to get J.J. McCarthy as, again, your backup quarterback,
11:54not to replace Jameis Winston, well, we could have a conversation. So, this is kind of a convoluted
12:02conversation on Jameis, but I think it's kind of important here. The schedule is the Giants' friend.
12:09Jameis not feeling any pressure is a good thing. I think if you look at the Giants' schedule,
12:14there is a realistic chance they win their next three games. Nothing is guaranteed, including
12:22Tennessee this Sunday, because the Giants are going to be playing Jameis Winston. The Titans' defensive line
12:29is certainly legit. Cam Ward played well last week, and Tennessee almost beat the Philadelphia
12:35Eagles. But I do think, when you look at the Titans, Cardinals, and Washington without Jaden Daniels,
12:44and Washington's a bad football team with a bad coach all the way around, listen, I think Jameis
12:49Winston could win those games. I think the Giants' season, though, is over. I think they were a 9-10
12:56-win
12:57team with a healthy Jackson Dart. I think they dip down to the 6-7 win range with Jameis Winston.
13:06I think the beauty of Harbaugh and that wonderful soundbite and clip that we had to start the show,
13:12Harbaugh is going to have his team ready. There is no such thing for a John Harbaugh coach team
13:17as quitting. That's not the DNA. That's not how it works. I do think the Giants are in,
13:24and I'm going to put this in air quotes, great position with Jameis Winston as their backup
13:30quarterback. Now, they have to put someone else on the roster, and I think they need to be smart,
13:35and I think they need to be calculated about that. So that's why, to me, Jimmy Garoppolo,
13:40who's a free agent, you don't have to trade anything for him. You just make a call, right? That's it.
13:44Cooper Rush is definitely going to be available, especially after Thursday night. You know,
13:49make sure Panix plays, make sure Tua plays, and then move on. You know,
13:53Justin Fields might take a little hand-wringing. We'll see about that. McCarthy's going to be
13:57available. We'll see if he even interests the Giants at this kind of stage. So I think Jameis
14:03Winston is going to flash. I think he's going to be significantly better than what we saw on Monday
14:09night. I think that Harbaugh and Joe Shane deserve credits for how they handled the backup
14:16quarterback position in the offseason. Seriously, Jameis Winston is one of the better backup
14:21quarterbacks in the entire league. But in terms of the drop-off from Dart to Jameis,
14:28I don't have any joy or jubilation in my voice saying it. The Giants' hope and the Giants' season
14:35is over. Speaking of teams of the quarterback crisis, here's Ben Johnson on the status of Caleb Williams.
14:41And I know we're anxious to get going here to the Eagles. I know everyone's going to ask about
14:45Caleb. We're saying week to week with him right now. We'll see where he's at as the week progresses
14:53and, you know, how long that means. But, you know, it was somewhat encouraging, the report that we got.
15:01So I'll leave it there. So Caleb Williams is week to week. The problem is his backup, Tyson Bajan,
15:06is in the concussion protocol, which means the Bears might have to turn to Case Keenum
15:12against the Eagles on Monday Night Football. Case Keenum. What year is this? Look, I was all
15:20prepared to tell you that Tyson Bajan can beat the Philadelphia Eagles. But if he can't practice
15:27and he's in concussion protocol, then I'm not even going to say that portion out loud. I mean,
15:32they signed Tyson Bajan to a contract, a sizable contract for backup quarterback because he was
15:37the ultimate insurance. Caleb loves him. Ben Johnson loves him. The fans love him. Two-year contract.
15:42Everything you want as a backup quarterback. You feel like if he has a spot star, he can step in
15:47and
15:47play. But he got smacked at the end of that game and Dallas Turner hit him and now he's in
15:53concussion
15:53protocol. And getting out of it for Monday Night Football against Philadelphia? Don't think that's
15:58going to be in the cards. Now, I will say this, right? There are some haters, critics,
16:06Twitter tough guys, buffoons on social media trying to make Caleb Williams out to be soft
16:15because the injury was just a hamstring injury. Let me tell you something. I'm going to be crystal
16:21clear here. Shut the hell up. Seriously. Caleb Williams is a terrific player. Caleb Williams loves
16:28being a Chicago Bear. Loves being a Bear quarterback. Caleb Williams got injured and
16:34he was physically and mentally just spooked, rocked, emotional. Could not believe that he got hurt in
16:42that kind of game. Playing against Brian Flores' defense, all the elements, the weather, everything
16:48that was going on on a nasty day in Chicago. He needed the cart to get off the field. Who
16:54gives a
16:55damn? Seriously. Caleb Williams, if anything, I see the reaction. I see how much it means to him.
17:02I know how much he wants to win a championship in a Super Bowl for Chicago. That video and everything
17:07about it entrenches the belief that all he cares about is delivering a championship for the Chicago
17:14Bears. That's it. And anyone who says anything else otherwise, forget about it. Coming up,
17:21Baker Mayfield secured the bag from the Buccaneers. But are they having buyer's remorse sitting at 0-2?
17:26To break down the NFL's winless teams in okay or oh no. Next.
17:33It is time for okay or oh no. Today I take every 0-2 team in the NFL and predict
17:39their fates. Is an 0-2 start a blip or an omen? Let's begin with the Houston Texans. By the
17:46way,
17:46started 0-3 last season before making the playoffs and winning a wild card game. The Houston Texans are
17:52going to be okay. My worry level for the Houston Texans is a 0. Seriously. They just played first two
18:00weeks of the season. The two teams that I predicted would meet on championship Sunday in the AFC,
18:07the Bills and the Bengals. So I am not worried about D'Amico Ryan's team at all. I still think
18:13that
18:13defense is unbelievable. I think they have a get right game against Indianapolis this week. I know
18:19the location of the game. You might say on the road. That's not great. Look, I think after losing
18:26a couple of games at home against great teams, you get on the road, run the ball with David Montgomery.
18:31The Colts run defense is deplorable. Worse than the NFL. First couple of weeks, everyone's gashing
18:37them. Think about what Walker did this past week. Think about what Derrick Henry did the week before.
18:43I think the Houston Texans with their defense and their schedule. And let's factor this in too.
18:51The Jacksonville loss. Maybe I would have a different take if the Jags beat the Denver Broncos because they
18:57felt like they were invincible. But I think the Houston Texans, I still maintain they are winning the AFC
19:04South. They are going to be a-okay. How about the Miami Dolphins? 0-2 after road losses to the
19:10Raiders and the Niners. The Miami Dolphins are going to be the worst team in the NFL.
19:18Which, if you really want to spin in a different way, that means they're going to go from 0-0
19:22to
19:22okay because they're going to get the number one pick in the draft and probably draft Arch Manning.
19:25But the Miami Dolphins, I think when it's all said and done, will ultimately lose basically every game.
19:33I look at their schedule. I can't find wins. And I really, at the end of the day, I like
19:40Jeff
19:40Halfley, their coach. I like their general manager, John Eric Sullivan. But I can't find games that
19:46they are going to win. Maybe the Mike McDaniel revenge game? Who the hell knows? 0-0 for Miami.
19:52But that means with the number one pick in the draft, they'll be okay. The Colts got blown out at
19:57home
19:57by Baltimore in week one. And they have the Chiefs. I still can't believe what Shane Steichen did.
20:03I can't. I can't. I can't. Here's the problem, right? There's a part of me that wants to say
20:08this team's going to be okay. But I just told you that I'd like the Texans to beat them,
20:13which is why they had to win one of those first two games. Shane Steichen, what are you thinking,
20:17you kid? Can you feel going overtime with Patrick Mahomes, the quarterback on the other side? You
20:22can't do it. The defense looks awful. So, I still think the Colts are good enough to win
20:30eight. I don't think they're going to bottom out even if they start 0-3. That defense is atrocious,
20:37though. Jonathan Taylor is playing like a Hall of Famer once again. He looks absolutely out of his
20:42mind. So, I just feel bad for our guy Sauce Gardner. I mean, this guy hasn't won a game in
20:48years. Washington Commanders row in two, and they lost their quarterback, Jaden Daniels. And honestly,
20:53I think this team is a flat-out disaster. I didn't like Washington before the season.
20:58Oh, no is the only way to answer this. I think that Marcus Mariota is a solid backup,
21:03but honestly, behind that line, he is going to get absolutely smacked. And Jaden Daniels,
21:09I mean, I'm with Tom Brady. Oh bleep. This is not what you want to see from your franchise
21:14quarterback with the elbow bent in the wrong direction. The line's terrible. The defense is
21:19terrible. The head coach is terrible. The roster is terrible. The schedule is daunting. Seattle's up next.
21:26Good luck with all that. I mean, I think the Washington Commanders are a mess. And look,
21:31I think that you're going to see, go back to the last take, the Colts beat them in early
21:35October. And I think that Jameis Winston and the Giants will beat them coming up on Columbus Day
21:41weekend. Then, of course, the Chargers and their history-making 0-2 start. Talked about it yesterday
21:46on Shine Time. I mean, you want to look at that upcoming schedule? That Chargers upcoming schedule,
21:51it's like the league said, how can we ultimately screw you like no other? I mean,
21:57to be clear, Chargers have screwed themselves by losing to the Cardinals and the Raiders to start
22:04the season. You tell me, where's the win? Buffalo? Seattle? Denver? Kansas City? Rams? Houston?
22:13Baltimore? I mean, maybe they beat the Jets. See you in November. Felt like Todd Balls on the hot seat
22:20before the season kicked off, and now the Bucs hit it 0-2. So, I'm going to say okay for
22:25Tampa Bay,
22:26because they do have good players, and Baker Mayfield, I have to imagine, was just super
22:32over-amped and played horrendous football in that loss. I still can't believe it happened to his
22:37old team, the Cleveland Browns. Thought for sure Baker was going to play better and win that game.
22:42But the schedule is one they can navigate. I think that even if they lose against Minnesota,
22:50I think they will. Look, they're in the NFC South. They still have all their division games
22:56remaining. So, again, I don't think the Bucs make the playoffs. I said seven wins preseason.
23:03You know, if you win seven or eight, you'll be in the mix to win the worst division in football.
23:08Stay with me on this. The Atlanta Falcons are going to be okay. I really believe this,
23:14because Michael Penix Jr. is back. And Michael Penix Jr., I love his talent, I love his intelligence,
23:20and I love his ability to get the ball to Bijan Robinson and Kyle Pitts and get it to Drake
23:25London
23:25and run Kevin Stefanski and Tommy Reese's offense. And I think the Falcons are ripe to knock off the
23:32Green Bay Packers who should have never beat the Jets. So, if you can just get that win, just get
23:38your shorts on straight, right? Then you have New Orleans. And New Orleans will be favored and
23:42Baltimore is going to be tough and Chicago and San Francisco. But then you start getting into Tampa
23:48and you can beat Cleveland and you can win all four games down the stretch of the season. And again,
23:55just like Tampa, and the vision matters here for the answer to this question. The number seven,
24:01if you can win seven games in the NFC South, you're going to be okay. Again, it's a relative
24:07thing when you say okay. Now they just need Michael Penix Jr. to be healthy and play in this game
24:11and play better than what we saw before he got hurt last year. Tie-in surprisingly gave the Eagles a
24:16run
24:17for their money on Sunday, but still find themselves winless heading into week three. Yeah, I don't think
24:23the Tennessee Titans are going to go on any kind of run here. I mean, they are going to get
24:27spanked by the
24:28Giants. And it's the Brian Dayball return game. It's a Robert Sala return game. Everyone's returning
24:35in this game. The thing is, the Titans just aren't any good at professional football. And truth be
24:41told, Evan Flo, I thought they had a real shot to knock off the Philadelphia Eagles and Cam Ward,
24:45who I happen to like, made some progress. But I don't know. This was a mess in terms of, you
24:51know,
24:52the coaching is terrible. And, you know, the offensive line is not great. And I do think
24:57that John Harbaugh is going to have his team ready. And then they got Baltimore and Houston and
25:03Indy. And did I mention the Titans aren't that good? Oh, no, for Tennessee. Browns are going to
25:10Browns. Fuck that. Okay. So the guys took that to heart. Thank you. Todd Munkin barked back after the

25:37Simply put, I think Andy's the perfect person for this job. He allows us to connect front office to
25:44dugout. He allows us to connect minor league to major league. And he provides us a level of continuity
25:52that we need right now and a level of stability and belief that I think our players and our entire
26:00organization covet. I just said to them that, you know, the bright lights next year will reveal the
26:06work they did or didn't do in the shadows of the offseason. We have a lot of work to do
26:10on an
26:10individual basis. So you don't get to say this often. I think the Mets are being really smart
26:18here. The Mets are keeping Andy Green as their manager. And it was announced yesterday. And
26:23everything that David Stern said, Colin Green the perfect person for the job, I agree with. I mean,
26:31the only reason I think this wasn't talked about more as reality was because Green said he wanted to
26:36go back to the front office and didn't want the job. Well, he's been really good at it. He's been
26:42a big
26:42league manager before and he knows how to connect with the players. And I think this is a really solid
26:49hire. Look, I'm not going to sit here and say, man, I'm ready to run through a wall. Andy Green,
26:53let's go Mets. No, not doing that. But logic. This is smart, calculated. You see the way the Mets have
27:01played. They're 500, 30 and 38 since he took over. Obviously, he managed the Padres before. He knows
27:08these guys from the minor leagues, the way the young cats have played under him now in the bigs. That
27:15is a big deal to me moving forward. And it should be the same way for Mets fans. So
27:20I think this was a smart move. You didn't need some kind of managerial search when you start
27:27interviewing first base coaches and minor league coaches and Carlos Beltran. And then,
27:32you know, you're going to throw a dart against the wall and see what sticks.
27:35You know who Andy Green is. You know what he's about. You know that he can maximize the young
27:41players. The Mets are doing something logical. We haven't seen jokes and lack of fundies from the
27:48Mets before. He bleeds for the Mets. I think this is a really good hire and a good decision by

27:56Stearns and Steve Cohen. Speaking of making moves, is Jerry Jones hinting at something big on the horizon
28:02in Dallas. You're more dangerous than an old man with money. You all hear that? That's my quote of
28:12the day. Ah, yes. Jerry, always good for the old yuck, yuck. Tell you what I'm fired up about. The
28:18Dallas Cowboys and the Baltimore Ravens coming up 425 Eastern NFL and CBS in Brazil, Rio. And there's
28:28so much conversation about the field, right? And this is a big deal in terms of the slick surface,
28:33and it's been raining and I've got a lot of concerns. Both the Ravens and the Dallas Cowboys
28:40are saying the right things. And let me tell you something. I think this is going to be
28:45a sensational ballgame. The week three slate is filled with bangers. This is my personal favorite.
28:51I love watching Dak Prescott. I love watching CeeDee Lamb. I love watching Lamar Jackson. I love
28:57watching Derrick Henry. And because I love watching him, they're going to be on display
29:03because I don't think either team is going to be able to stop the opposition's offense. I mean,
29:07this one has 45-42 written all over it. If you like offense, assuming the field's okay,
29:13everyone's saying it's okay. Kind of makes you wonder, why is the field such a topic for conversation
29:18that everyone has to have a conversation about it? Maybe it's not really okay with the rain and
29:23everything that goes into the equation in Brazil. And then, you know, if heaven forbid someone gets
29:28hurt, that's going to be under the umbrella of not what you want. I choose to be, like I go
29:34through
29:34life class, not only half full, it's overflowing. Field's going to be great. Offense is going to be
29:40great. And to Jerry's point, I think the Dallas Cowboys are going to beat the Baltimore Ravens.
29:48And this is not an overreaction to Baltimore losing to New Orleans. This is not an overreaction to
29:54anything. This is what we said when the schedule came out. Then this is what we said. We made our
29:59picks on shine time before the season. And I say this with a smile. I still very much believe
30:06in the Dallas coaching on defense, Dallas talent on defense. And I say that before they give up 40-plus
30:12points to Lamar Jackson and company, I think Dallas is better than Baltimore. And I think Dallas is
30:19going to win this game. In fact, if I'm a Cowboy fan, I kind of demand it. The Cowboys should
30:27be able to
30:27keep the good times rolling. Lamar Jackson obviously has won a couple of MVPs. I think Dak Prescott
30:35is going to outplay him. I think this is one of those, and again, it's not a playoff game. It's
30:39week
30:40three. It's an international game. I want to see Dak Prescott in a game featuring a couple of
30:46sensational quarterbacks. Jackson more decorated in his career than Dak is in his. I want to see Dak
30:52meet that moment and dominate. And I expect that he will. As you heard earlier, Todd Munkin decided to
31:01clap back at Mike Tomlin and other Browns haters after his squad upset the Buccaneers in Tampa on Sunday.
31:08Now he and his quarterback face a unique situation in their home opener,
31:12where many expect Deshaun Watson to be booed by the Browns faithful. How will they handle it?
31:17I mean, the biggest thing, I don't never try to go at war with the fans. So I think the
31:22biggest
31:22thing is just, you know, ready for support, ready to feel their energy, ready to get this big dub for
31:27the city of Cleveland and, you know, continue this great feeling that we have this week. So
31:32that's my motto is just keep pushing forward, finding ways to win on Sunday to, you know,
31:37take advantage of the opposing team and get a W. What have you done all the work for, man?
31:42What have you done it for? What have you worked 22 months to come back to play and give yourself

31:49chance to play at a high level? I mean, it's really cool. You know, I said, let it rip. What
31:54do you have to
31:55fear? Let it rip, man. I mean, you've already had a hell of a career already. And man, let's just

32:02go down fighting, go back, go down swinging. Let's improve every week.
32:06You know, the old meme, and I'll paraphrase it, worst person you know says something intelligent.
32:13Listen, I mean, that's kind of how I feel about Deshaun Watson from this past week.
32:18Worst person you know plays brilliant football game. If you didn't hate Deshaun Watson,
32:24you'd give him credit. So it's kind of my job to take the hate and the feelings out of it.
32:30Deshaun Watson was terrific against the Buccaneers. Most people gave him no shot in that game. Myself
32:38included. I expected Baker Mayfield, former team to win. It wasn't even close. Deshaun Watson,
32:43I'll say, finally, looked like the old Deshaun Watson. He threw with confidence. He was accurate.
32:52He distributed the ball brilliantly, got the ball to the rookie wide receivers, got the tight end
32:58fan involved. The offense for the Monkman, Todd Munkin, had flow. I loved everything about this.
33:04And I also, and again, I don't like Deshaun Watson as a person or a player. I appreciate this quote
33:12on
33:12the heels of everything. He doesn't want to go to war with the fans. If I had an empathetic bone
33:19in
33:19my body for Watson, I would feel for him here. I don't, so I won't. But I can at least
33:25appreciate
33:26and applaud what he's trying to say. This is the one moment of, I don't want to be the bad
33:32guy.
33:33I want to be the Browns quarterback. I want to play like this. I remember what I was at Clemson.
33:39I remember what I was in Houston. I want to be that guy again. And I want to win and
33:45deliver for
33:45you, the Browns fans. There are a lot of people, myself included, who didn't think he would make
33:50it to this game after he ripped the fans and destroyed them after the preseason game, when
33:55they were booing him left and right, when he was playing terrible. And, you know, Shador was going
33:59to be the quarterback and Watson was going to lose last week against Tampa. Then bam, here's Shador
34:03Sanders for the home opener because Watson's going to get booed. I have to give credit.
34:08I give credit where credit is due. And I give Todd Munkin credit. He wasn't happy with Mike
34:13Tomlin in terms of the Browns being the Browns and all that jazz and Tomlin doing his thing
34:18on NBC and good for Tomlin, right? He's not coaching in Pittsburgh. He's on television.
34:24He's going to say something that's going to go viral. And that's great for Tomlin who happened
34:27to like a lot. He's off to a great start on football night in America. But if you're the coach
34:32of the Cleveland Browns, you're going to take that personally. And one thing about Todd
34:37Munkin, he's not a wallflower. He's not shy. He will say exactly what's on his mind. So
34:43listen, the Cleveland Browns who have the Panthers coming up, have an opportunity here to win
34:51another football game. Crazy, wild, but true. And the Panthers obviously looked fantastic against
34:58the Atlanta Falcons last week. So I am fascinated to see the reaction that Watson gets. I'm sure
35:05most people in Cleveland, obviously, most people everywhere still don't like him. But Deshaun
35:12Watson just delivered a victory. Deshaun Watson played brilliantly. Deshaun Watson made the young
35:19receivers look great. And the brass that drafted those guys, Andrew Barry and company,
35:24look great for making those picks. So I thought that was a terrific performance by Watson on
35:30Sunday. And I kind of respect the hell out of what Munkin and Watson had to say to the press.
35:37Either the Rams or the Broncos are going to be one and two after they face off this week on
35:41Sunday
35:41Night Football. Are the Rams going to get back Pukunakua? Sean McVay isn't quite sure.
35:48When you have soft tissue injuries with guys like that, that are skilled players,
35:53you're going to err on the side of caution. I'm not sure what his status is as far as,
35:58you know, this next coming week. I'm hopeful that he'll play. I don't know how his pregame
36:02warmup went. You know, I know that was a big part of even maybe making him active if he felt
36:07good
36:07enough with the pregame warmup, but that obviously wasn't the case. And so, you know, if he's ready
36:13to go great, if not, then we'll continue to roll. Sean McVay didn't sound supremely confident,
36:19but gave you a solid time frame in terms of can he practice? How does he work out? And listen,
36:26I am super excited for this game. And I know it's just week three, but this feels like kind of
36:32a
36:32monster deal here for both the Broncos and the Rams. Both teams, monster expectations before the
36:38season. The loser of this game being one and two, that feels like that is on the umbrella of not
36:45what you want. If you're the Rams or the Denver Broncos with all the expectations, not to mention
36:50the coup is part of the heavyweights showdown, part of this heavyweight matchup, the Rams offense
36:56going up against the Broncos defense. And it's in Denver. And you know, Patrick Sertan is going to
37:01be absolutely fired up for this one. Now, here's what I know. And granted, the Broncos defense is
37:09phenomenal. And you know, the Giants defense is, well, not bad. I think the Rams have a golden
37:15opportunity on Sunday night to prove that they are still the team to beat in the NFC. And obviously,
37:22Seattle's been unbelievable to start the season. And Seattle is the Super Bowl champ. And Seattle with
37:27Mike McDonald and Jackson Smith and Digma, they've got the elements in place to repeat. San Francisco's
37:33unbelievable. 2-0 start. Great coaching. Great talent across the board. The drama for San Francisco
37:40feels like it's in the past. Are people now sleeping on the ramps? Has that happened? Garrett's hurt.
37:46Nakua, we don't know if he's going to play. Matthew Stafford, I believe, is going to light up the
37:52Broncos. I think Matthew Stafford is going to have a sensational game. You look at Matthew Stafford,
37:57four touchdowns on Monday Night Football, the Hall of Fame version, the MVP version after that
38:04disaster in Australia. He's officially back. Devontae Adams is going to have another monster game.
38:12This was not a one-off. This was not a fluke. He's getting a gold jacket. He's going to Canton
38:16one day. And I firmly believe that he's going to have another terrific game going into Denver and
38:23taking on the Broncos defense. I think Adams is superb. I think he's sensational. And I think
38:28that they can run the ball with authority when you look at it with Kyron Williams and certainly
38:34with Blake Corum and a two-headed monster and a solid offensive line and they'll use the extra
38:38tight ends. And Sean McVay is a gem. And I think that Sean Payton's a fantastic coach,
38:44but I would rather have Sean McVay. So I think the Monday headline on Shine Time, I think the Monday
38:54headline for the California Post, it's going to be that the Rams prove that they are still the best
39:02team in the NFC, the team to beat. You go potentially shorthanded on offense. You are shorthanded on defense
39:10with no Miles Garrett. You go into Denver, you win that game. That's a big deal. And I expect on
39:18the
39:18heels of Monday night, which felt like the ultimate get right for Los Angeles, I expect the Rams to beat
39:27the Denver Broncos. Big news for the Dodgers, who expect Shohei Ohtani to return to the lineup tonight.
39:33Are there any real challengers to this team with a healthy Ohtani? Keep it locked on Shine Time.
39:39Do you know when Shohei will be up for him? The thought is tomorrow. So unless I hear otherwise,
39:46he'll be in the lineup tomorrow. Does he need to go through today to kind of check those final
39:51losses for tomorrow? Just continue to say he keeps getting better every day. He's going to go through
40:00some coaches BP, his old workout regimen. And, you know, given that it's probably a light lift today
40:08for him, that he should be ready to go tomorrow. How much better would you say he's feeling now
40:13compared when he went on high? Yeah, I would say from that point on, I would say, I mean, considerably,
40:21I would say if he was, you know, a five, he's probably an eight or a nine right now.
40:28Listen, eight or nine right now is huge news for Dave Roberts, the L.A. Dodgers,
40:33and the amazing Dodgers fans. Shohei Ohtani makes his triumphant return to the Dodgers lineup tonight.
40:39And honestly, absolutely incredible. Because Shohei Ohtani has not played since September 8th,
40:46and he's been feeling it with the right biceps and obviously with the knee. And the fact that he's
40:52going to play Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and ramp it up for October baseball,
40:58honestly, this is everything. And I can't get enough. Because this goes back to my conversation
41:05that I had with Derek Jeter on my Sirius XM radio show. And Jeter can relate to this with the
41:12Yankees
41:13in the late 90s, especially the 99 Yankees, the 2000 Yankees. It's about gearing up for October.
41:20Mookie Betts is on fire. Shohei tried to come back. Okay, he's feeling pain. Shut him down.
41:27Get him, as Dave Roberts said, as an 8 right now physically. Get him up to a 9 or a
41:3410 for October
41:35baseball. And then let the work and let the history and let the freakish legendary talent
41:41take over. This, this right now, if you're a fan of another team in the National League,
41:47it's pure pain. Because the Dodgers are going to the World Series. The Dodgers are going to win
41:54another World Series. And look, the Brewers fans who watch this will be annoyed. I genuinely don't
42:01care. But I expect the Dodgers, no matter if they finish first or second, when it comes to
42:06ultimately the standings and the seed in the National League, I think the Dodgers are going to win the
42:12National League. Now, with Otani coming back, there's still a lot to play for here, right?
42:19In terms of the Dodgers getting the one seed. Because they're a game back. They have to be a game
42:25ahead. Because if there's a tie, Brewers have the tiebreaker because of the season series. So that is
42:30obviously a big deal and something to watch for here from a Dodger standpoint. But they're going to ramp
42:37this thing up. They're going to play these games like they're beyond meaningful. And with that October,
42:43World Series edge. And Betts is on fire. And Mookie Betts is one of the most prolific playoff
42:48performers in the history of Major League Baseball. Dave Roberts knows what it takes. The Dodgers
42:54pitching is elite. Did I mention Otani's coming back? So with all due respect to the Brewers,
43:01thanks for playing. You're not winning. The Dodgers will beat you in the playoffs. Frankly, I feel
43:07better about the Phillies. I feel better about the Padres. I feel better about the Atlanta Braves
43:12than I do the Milwaukee Brewers. You still have something to prove when it's all said and done
43:17when it comes to knowing how to navigate the rungs of the old ladder for playoff baseball. So this
43:23is a monster story. This is a big deal. I wouldn't be surprised if Otani Homer tonight. He just has
43:30that kind of flair for the moment of the dramatic. And obviously, he's an all-timer. I am super amped
43:37for
43:37this. Dodger haters are going to be absolutely on tilt. They are going to be just beside themselves
43:43because even though they haven't looked necessarily like world beaters throughout the course of the
43:49season, October baseball, it's the Dodgers' time to shine. Buckle up, Buttercup. I can't wait.
43:56From west to east, last night for me, not fun as a Yankee fan. I have to watch the race
44:02clinch the east,
44:03clinch the one seed in the American League, and celebrate of all places at Yankee Stadium after
44:09they beat the Yankees. So I felt like yesterday the Yankee season ended. We got the news that Aaron
44:17Judge is not going to be ready for the wild card round, and he's legitimately injured even if the
44:22Yankees beat Boston. You know, will Judge come back next weekend for the divisional rounds? Will he be
44:28able to play the outfield? Will he be able to hit like Aaron Judge? Came back for that cup of
44:32coffee in September after missing 100 days. And, you know, he couldn't hit his weight
44:38until the Yankees have no punch and no juice without Aaron Judge. And the Rays are a really
44:42good team. And they have power, and they have speed, and they have solid starting pitching,
44:46and a great manager, and they don't beat themselves. And now the American League has to go through
44:51that dump that is the trap, which should really just be blown up and just absolutely splattered
44:59to smithereens. I mean, that place is a disgrace to professional baseball. Now, I will say this,
45:05and I want to get ahead on this. I think Rob Manfred did an amazing job when he changed the
45:11playoff
45:11format. Six teams in each league making the playoffs. I think it's great for interest and buzz in the
45:17regular season. I think that it's great for the wild card round in the postseason. Best two out of
45:23three, not the nine fluky innings. I still am okay with a division winner getting home games. I think
45:29that's great. You know, my Yankees have the second best record in the American League. They have to
45:34play on the wild card. It's fine. I mean, I, you know, it is what it is. You know, you
45:38wanted a
45:39better scene? Beat the race. Have more wins in the Tampa race. But big picture for baseball. If I'm a
45:47Rays fan, I would be livid here. You don't want to see the Yankees if they beat Boston in the
45:53divisional round. And that's not good for baseball. You want your best two teams in theory meeting in
46:00the championship round in the American League or in the National League. In the NFL, you reseed. In
46:06baseball, you need to reseed. It would make no sense to have the Rays and the Yankees and a bracket
46:13that is a hard, true bracket with no reseeding. The fact that you have that in Major League
46:19Baseball is an embarrassment and a joke. It's illogical. It makes no sense. It's absolutely
46:25clueless and chaotic, and it needs to change. And I want to stress, this is not a Yankee take.
46:31If anything, if I'm a Rays fan, I'd be annoyed. I have to play the Yankees. I think Manfred did

46:37great job making it better for baseball in the regular season. Heck, the NFL and the NFL's king
46:43has a Week 18 problem. These games all still matter now, final week of the season for baseball,
46:49because you're still playing for seed and you're playing to win a division. So it all matters
46:55here, playing for a bye, playing for a home field. This is a great job by baseball, but they have
47:00to
47:00change the divisional round. You have to, when it's all said and done, reseed. Otherwise,
47:05the hell are we doing? So we're not going to get Aaron Judge, but what about Giancarlo Stanton?
47:10Hey, we have video, actual video of Stanton running. And unlike when he tried to run in
47:16Tampa, he didn't fall down. I mean, that's progress, right? Is Giancarlo Stanton going to
47:22return for the playoffs? Look, there is a better chance of Jennifer Aniston returning my telephone
