00:01Ah, yes! Big Wednesday on Shine Time. My guests today are the hosts of the number one fantasy football podcast
00:08in the game, the Fantasy Footballers.
00:11They're going to join me shortly to get everyone said for our fantasy drafts and have a lot of laughs
00:16along the way.
00:17Then, of course, reality football. Is Christian McCaffrey jealous of all the other running backs who just got paid?
00:24Is Baker Mayfield right that the Bucs are going to have a shocking season?
00:28Are the Chargers doomed to be thwarted by injuries again?
00:32And how long until an NFL team lives outside the United States?
00:37Plus, Fernando Tatis, the Yankees, the Dodgers.
00:41What's a better job, athlete or actor?
00:45Shine Time starts right now.
00:47Don't stop. Get it coming, baby. Don't stop.
00:54Pro Football Talks speculated that Christian is out of practice due to contract issues.
01:02What's your problem?
01:03I mean, people make a lot of assumptions, and that would be one that they're wrong on.
01:08Is there a timeline for him to come back?
01:11When do you think he might be able to practice again?
01:14I think if it wasn't Christian and we were in a game week, I think he would play today.
01:21Is it related to the calf or Achilles?
01:24No, just some tightness.
01:27Now, of course, 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan with his really cool August mustache
01:32responding to the rumors swirling around Christian McCaffrey and the extended absence from practice
01:37being contract-related.
01:39This, of course, in the wake of several big money deals for running backs that were inked last week.
01:45And Shanahan says nothing to see here.
01:48He's just banged up.
01:50It's just August.
01:51It's just training camp.
01:52And if it was a regular season situation, if it was week three of the NFL campaign,
01:58Christian McCaffrey would be practicing, and Christian McCaffrey would be on the field.
02:02Now, Christian McCaffrey has missed five straight practices, and the Niners had 21 players miss
02:12or leave practice this Sunday due to injury.
02:1721 players.
02:18But let's start with CMC, because Christian McCaffrey is still unbelievable.
02:24And for a while, he was in my top five and got one of my top five votes last year
02:30for NFL MVP,
02:31because I think Christian McCaffrey is out of this world.
02:35He's tough.
02:36He's fast.
02:37He's physical.
02:37He's speedy.
02:38Catches the ball out of the backfield, moves the chain, scores touchdowns.
02:42He is everything you want in a football player.
02:47I am going to choose to believe Kyle Shanahan.
02:50I'm going to choose to believe it.
02:52Look at these numbers for McCaffrey, and this is why he was on my list for MVP
02:56and why I voted him fifth for the MVP last season.
03:00Look at the rushing yards.
03:01Look at the catches.
03:03Look at the receiving yards.
03:05Look at the total touchdowns.
03:07And then at the bottom, he played all 17 games.
03:11This after he was injured the year before.
03:14But anytime Christian McCaffrey is not on the field, you kind of get a little bit nervous
03:19if you're a fan of the San Francisco 49ers.
03:22Now, in a few weeks coming up on Shine Time, we will make all of our picks and predictions
03:28for the upcoming NFL season.
03:30Now, I always say, for us, during an offseason, during preseason, during training camp,
03:38we make conversation.
03:40We tell you we love this team.
03:42We hate this team.
03:44We're stuck in the middle with this team.
03:46There's an I-don't-know quotient.
03:47And then you see injuries and issues, and then you lock in your preseason picks.
03:53The Niners right now are a zany conundrum.
03:57The San Francisco 49ers' upside is to win a Super Bowl this year.
04:01Not going to bat an eye.
04:03Not going to bat an eye if we're doing Shine Time live in Los Angeles all week leading up
04:08to the Super Bowl, and we're talking about the Niners in the big game.
04:12I'm also not going to bat an eye if the San Francisco 49ers miss the playoffs.
04:18They are one of those teams that, based upon age and injury, they're all over the map.
04:23And even Shanahan, obviously, missing time with his car accident, that factors in, too.
04:29I love Kyle Shanahan.
04:31Kyle Shanahan is one of the reasons why I think the world of San Francisco, because,
04:36and you've seen it throughout his history, he gets teams to achieve and overachieve.
04:41Doesn't matter who's injured.
04:43Could be McCaffrey.
04:44Could be Brock Purdy.
04:45Could be Nick Bosa.
04:45Could be Fred Warner.
04:46Could be George Kittle.
04:47It doesn't matter.
04:48Kyle Shanahan, a Kyle Shanahan coach team, is always going to win games and be ready to
04:53rock and roll.
04:54The problem is, you have McCaffrey sitting out for five practices.
04:59Okay, in isolation, it's August.
05:02You put him in bubble wrap.
05:04You know, it's between week one and week two of the preseason.
05:07Not a big deal.
05:08But Mike Evans has his lower body wrapped.
05:12And Nick Bosa, coming off of major surgery.
05:15He has in practice, after the surgery of your paired knee, since August the 3rd.
05:21And Ricky Pearsall's already out for the year.
05:24And this is where you start having the conversation of, okay, is this team going to be ready to
05:29rock and roll?
05:30George Kittle is not 100%.
05:32Is he going to be on the field for week one in Australia, when the 49ers take on the L
05:38.A.
05:39Rams in a massive ball game on the first Thursday of the NFL season?
05:43So, that's why this is such a big deal here and a big topic for conversation, because it's
05:49not just McCaffrey in isolation.
05:52And look, right now, today, I don't have a great vibe about San Francisco.
05:58And I acknowledge, if I don't take them to make the playoffs, I could look like a horse's
06:04ass at the end of the season and they find the way to win a championship.
06:06And I think the world of Kyle Shanahan, I'm rooting for him, rooting for John Lynch, I
06:12think that these guys are phenomenal and they should have won a Super Bowl with the rosters
06:16they put together a couple times against Kansas City.
06:19Jimmy Garoppolo missed Emmanuel Sanders wide open.
06:22Then, obviously, they didn't sign Tom Brady.
06:24They make the stupid, asinine first guest Trey Lance deal, which made absolutely no sense.
06:29You know, we saw what happened a couple years ago against Kansas City in the Vegas Super Bowl.
06:32Should have won that Super Bowl.
06:34I refuse to say that the window is closed.
06:37I will not say that, because I have so much respect for Lynch and so much respect for Shanahan.
06:42And this team is loaded with great players.
06:46I mean, think about this.
06:47Trent Williams, Nick Bosa, Fred Warner, Christian McCaffrey, George Kittle.
06:53These guys can, Mike Evans.
06:55These guys are Hall of Famers.
06:57They could easily be in Canton one day and no one's going to fight with me or bat an eye.
07:01That's what we're talking about.
07:03But everyone needs to stay healthy at the right time.
07:06I am going to take Shanahan at his word.
07:08This is not an absence that is contractually related.
07:11Now, I think that that is the case.
07:14Having said that, I would like the 49ers to be whole at some point
07:19as we get closer to the start of the 2026 NFL season.
07:24Speaking of contract disputes, real or imagined, Baker Mayfield is not too happy about his contract
07:29situation at Tampa, as previously discussed here on Shine Time.
07:33But that has not curbed his enthusiasm for the Buccaneers this season.
07:38It's, I think we're going to shock a lot of people this year.
07:41And so I'm excited to just get on the road and do that.
07:46Anything else?
07:47Are you going to surprise people when you say you're going to shock people?
07:50Yeah.
07:50I mean, listen, embellish it.
07:54There's no embellishing.
07:55I think you can't avoid it.
07:57There's the TVs everywhere.
07:58I think everybody's, yeah.
08:01Hell yeah, I am.
08:02Everybody's picking us probably to have a losing record.
08:04So we'll see.
08:06Listen, as Baker said, he's got TVs.
08:10He subscribes to our new YouTube page, At Shine Time.
08:14He's aware of what everybody's saying in terms of the Buccaneers and how we anticipate
08:19they're going to take a step back.
08:21But for the sake of fairness, and I can speak for me and for us here, listen,
08:27the fact that the Bucs didn't reward Baker Mayfield with a contract, that's part of it.
08:32Now, clearly on the flip side of Baker not getting paid, Chippy Baker's always the best
08:37Baker.
08:37We could go back to Cleveland.
08:38We could go back to when he was cut by Carolina, had the cup of coffee in LA, and then
08:42goes to
08:43Tampa.
08:43And I love Baker Mayfield.
08:45I'm a huge Baker Mayfield fan.
08:48I think Baker Mayfield in Tampa, best version of Baker Mayfield we've seen.
08:53And I love Jason Light, their general manager.
08:55I love the Buccaneers, and I love how they constantly draft and develop really good players,
09:00sign them to second contracts.
09:02They're fantastic at that.
09:04But Mike Evans left.
09:05He went to San Francisco.
09:07America Bucca has not been 100%.
09:09Vita Vea is in the middle of a contractual dispute.
09:12Levante David retired.
09:14And did I mention they didn't pay Baker Mayfield?
09:17Offensive coaching staff is not what it was.
09:20And I just don't see Baker this season duplicating this, what he's been able to do with the Tampa
09:30Bay Buccaneers.
09:31Part of the problem, too, Todd Bowles.
09:35And I respect the hell out of Todd Bowles.
09:37I don't think that he has inspired in any way, shape, or form.
09:42And I just don't believe that he's the kind of coach who gets this kind of group with these
09:47aforementioned questions and certainly maximizes the talent.
09:51Now, the flip side is, and Baker says we're going to shock a lot of people, there will
09:56be no shock value when it comes to the NFC South.
09:59Every team sticks, right?
10:01Even, and this is, again, why you don't lock in picks and predictions until the beginning
10:08of September.
10:09Because today, Alvin Kamara is going to be out.
10:13So that news broke today.
10:14He's going to be out for four weeks.
10:16On the heels of Jordan Tyson being out to start his NFL career.
10:20So the Saints have to deal with massive injuries.
10:23The Atlanta Falcons, we've been through their follies and their issues and quarterback situation
10:29and suspensions and signature defensive players missing the entire season when you take a
10:35look at Walker.
10:36The Falcons have questions.
10:38Carolina's got a really good team on the division last year.
10:41Their quarterback is Bryce Young.
10:43So, look, no one's going to sit here and be stunned if the Buccaneers win the division,
10:51make the playoffs, host a playoff game, because nine wins might ultimately get it done.
10:56But I'll tell you, Baker's, he's playing it.
11:00He's, he's feeling it.
11:02Baker's pissed he didn't get paid.
11:04Baker deserves better from the organization.
11:06Baker earned that contract.
11:09Chippy Baker is the best Baker.
11:11But I just think that right now he's trying to spin it in the court of public opinion.
11:17Nobody will be, quote unquote, shocked if the Buccaneers win the worst division in the NFL.
11:25Well, I shouldn't be able to do this unless you have an absolute cannon at quarterback.
11:33Wow.
11:35That's up.
11:37What?
11:38What in the world was that?
11:41I could have made that throw.
11:44I know I could have.
11:46What?
11:50Oh, man.
11:52Now, you can see right there, Chargers offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel is fired up about
11:56Justin Herbert.
11:57And you could also read the comments here to ESPN's Chris Rim, where he, at the end of
12:04the day, is looking for year two results in year number one.
12:08Justin Herbert's been everything that I've hoped for and more.
12:12And I can't say enough positive things where Herbert is far past where quarterbacks are
12:18usually in year one.
12:19And when we're talking about year one, we're talking about year one of a Mike McDaniel
12:24system, right?
12:25And year one to year two.
12:27And, you know, Tua Tangavailoa, as an example, say what you want about Tua.
12:31He became a pro bowler year two that he had Mike McDaniel as his offensive play caller
12:38when he was the head coach at the Miami Dolphins.
12:40Year two, Matt Ryan, when Kyle Shanahan and Mike McDaniel were in Atlanta.
12:46Matt Ryan won an MVP at the best season of his, what I believe should be a Hall of Fame
12:50career.
12:51And Mike McDaniel worked with Matt Ryan on his footwork, wants to work with Justin Herbert
12:55on his footwork.
12:56And I think, in theory, the Chargers and Justin Herbert primed for a great season.
13:05But damn it, are you kidding me?
13:08Only the Chargers.
13:11Only the Chargers.
13:13If it wasn't for bad luck, this team wouldn't have any at all.
13:17Everything was breaking right.
13:20Vibes are high.
13:21McDaniel talking about Herbert.
13:24They had a killer offseason.
13:26Love what they did with Njoku.
13:28Love what they did with an offensive lineman signing their incredible center, Tyler Biotich.
13:35And then the report today.
13:39Biotich out indefinitely, suffering damage to his ACL and additional injuries to his left
13:47knee.
13:48Damn it!
13:49Damn it!
13:50There's nothing that bothers me more than training camp injuries.
13:54Fans hate it.
13:56It's terrible for teams.
13:57It kills buzz.
13:59Kills esteem.
14:00Jim Harbaugh earlier today was on Pat McAfee's Outstanding Show.
14:05Harbaugh looked crestfallen when Pat and the boys asked him a question about Biotich.
14:10I mean, when they signed him, if you remember, Shine Time, when we talked about this move, I said this
14:17is one of the best moves of the entire offseason.
14:20Tyler Biotich getting him from Washington and Joe Ortiz, the great GM for the L.A. Chargers, prioritized him.
14:27This was incredible, not to mention the fact that, you know, you get Mike McDaniel, so you got your house
14:34in order, and I'm married in Hampton year two, and he's going to be healthy, and the weapons are there,
14:39and Harbaugh's unbelievable, and something's off with the Chiefs, and everything was coming up chargers.
14:46And, you know, you think about the three new people in Herbert's life, you got McDaniel, you got Biotich, and
14:52he's engaged to Madison Beer, and it was all there.
14:56It was all set up for success.
14:59Rashawn Slater, who missed the entire season, left tackle.
15:03He's healthy.
15:04He and Joe Alt didn't play down together last year.
15:07Alt finally healthy.
15:08Everything was set up.
15:10Herbert obviously was horrendous once again in the playoffs last year.
15:15But it was all set up for Herbert to have the best year of his career.
15:21Now, I want to make sure I don't go too nuts.
15:25They can still win the division.
15:28It's all still there for the Chargers.
15:31But I want you to look at this.
15:33Justin Herbert, since he came into the league, in terms of at the end of the day,
15:39Justin Herbert being hit.
15:42Justin Herbert being sacked.
15:46Look at this.
15:47This is not exaggeration.
15:49This is not hyperbole.
15:51We are talking about no—and this is a monster of an athlete.
15:55It's not like he's a statue back there.
15:57Joe Burrow is not a mobile quarterback, right?
16:02Justin Herbert, since 2020.
16:05Most sacks taken in the NFL.
16:09Damn it!
16:10I'm just—I hate this.
16:11I hate this for Giannis.
16:12I hate this for Herbert.
16:14I hate this for the long-suffering Charger fans.
16:16It just feels like every year something happens, right?
16:20I mean, last year it was, you know, Slater and it was Alts.
16:25You know, prior years you've seen Derwin James.
16:28You've seen other injuries and issues.
16:31And I'm trying hard here not to overreact.
16:34And I will take a breath.
16:37I'll pick up the pieces.
16:39I still think that this roster is better than Kansas City's.
16:44I think Denver has to come back into the fold and back into the equation here.
16:49Because you're expecting, if you believe in the Chargers,
16:53you think Justin Herbert takes another step forward.
16:56He has to in big games, crunch time games, playoff games.
17:00And I'm a big believer in Herbert's talent.
17:04He's a quarterback lab guy.
17:05You go into the laboratory, you design a quarterback,
17:08you come out of the lab with Justin Herbert.
17:10But he needs an offensive line.
17:13And if his center is out for the season,
17:16man, that is about as rough as it gets if you are a fan of the L.A. Chargers.
17:22One last topic before we get to our boys, the fantasy footballers.
17:27Roger Goodell has turned some heads with what he had to say
17:30in an interview with a German news outlet.
17:34At some point, there will be NFL teams outside the United States.
17:37I have no doubt about it, that it will happen one day.
17:43Well, I think Roger Goodell said that because it's fact.
17:49And I think, smartly, Goodell and the NFL put their finger out the proverbial window
17:56to see which way the wind was blowing in the court of public opinion.
18:02So, I'm in favor of it.
18:04I know people are going nuts about it, but this has felt inevitable for a long time.
18:12And I think we're going to see an NFL team that will call home abroad.
18:19I think that specific location will be London.
18:22I think an NFL team in London would be unbelievable.
18:26I think that, you know, the way Jacksonville has been positioned there,
18:30the Jaguars have been positioned there, I think that it would surprise nobody
18:35if the Jaguars ended up moving to London full-time.
18:39And if not the Jaguars, an expansion team, another team, another team in the NFL,
18:44an existing team.
18:45But I firmly believe that this will happen.
18:47And look, I've come full circle on international games.
18:51I think the league does an excellent job with it.
18:53It's a great way to bring in more money.
18:55It's a great way to expand the game globally.
18:59You know, as long as 1 o'clock Eastern Time, 4 o'clock Eastern Time,
19:03they have, you know, the windows that are holy for NFL Sundays.
19:08They still have enough games and inventory.
19:10Then I'm in favor of the games that are, you know, international games
19:14at 9 in the morning on a Sunday.
19:16And we've kind of been waiting for this for a long time for a team to be in London.
19:22I think London's an amazing sports city.
19:24I think London's, in general, fantastic.
19:27I think the way that, you know, teams fly nowadays, it's fine.
19:32I mean, you lie down in business class or a private jet and everything's okay.
19:37Now, there will be obstacles, you know, a street-free agent, you know,
19:40who's in the United States on a Wednesday or Thursday,
19:42if you have an injury, getting them to London for an NFL Sunday.
19:46But that's something they're going to have to figure out.
19:48But I give the NFL credit.
19:51I really do.
19:52I think that a team in London, especially, you can't do this in the other sports, right?
19:56Football's once a week.
19:58Now, you're going to have to rearrange and rethink the schedule, right,
20:01in terms of who's home, bye weeks, you know, short weeks, travel,
20:05all that that goes into the mix.
20:07But the league is great when it comes to things like that.
20:09So, I get it.
20:11I agree with it.
20:12And when the commissioner says, no doubt, yeah, you bet your bottom dollar we're going
20:18to get a team outside the United States.
20:20And by the way, that means eventually we're going to get a Super Bowl outside the United
20:25States.
20:26Shine time live in London in five years.
20:30I'll be there.
20:31Coming up, you see them right there.
20:33The men are going to tell you all you need to know and then some about fantasy football as
20:37we get closer to kickoff.
20:39The fantasy footballers are here with facts and fun.
20:43Come back on Shine Time.
20:47My guests today are the premier voices in fantasy football analysis.
20:52The fantasy footballers, Mike Wright, Jason Moore, Andy Holloway.

21:11100-plus player profiles, and other resources to help you win your league.
21:16It's available now at thefantasyfootballers.com.
21:20Fellas, welcome to Shine Time.
21:23Thanks for having us.
21:24Yeah, happy to be here.
21:25All right.
21:26Let's start with this, because everyone wants to know how you decide a draft order.
21:31I want you to look at this video of a Bills fan who gets DJ Moore to decide his league's
21:38draft order.
21:39I'm obsessed with this.
21:41Is this the coolest way, Mike?
21:43We'll start with you.
21:43You've ever seen a draft order decided.
21:45What's your favorite way to go about it?
21:49So, that probably is the coolest.
21:52I mean, I can't imagine if you're a Bills fan that I don't think you're ever going to top that.
21:58I like the, you know, you can have, I've seen people do, like, March Madness brackets or, you know,
22:08wagering on other things.
22:09I like the, if you're just from scratch, I like kind of the obstacle course type of idea where, you
22:16know,
22:16just we go old school.
22:17The first thing, you've got to put the head down on the bat and spin around 10 times
22:21and then navigate through just a bunch of different physical obstacles while you're either dizzy
22:28or perhaps you've made people imbibe in certain libations.
22:33Just have a good time about it because fantasy football at its core,
22:39we can get lost in our nerd stuff sometimes.
22:42It's supposed to be fun.
22:44It's supposed to enhance your Sunday and make just the NFL better.
22:47You care more about games.
22:50You care about the random Thursday night game at the end of the season
22:54between two absolute stinkers of teams.
22:56But you've got fantasy players out there.
22:58So, whatever is fun in the obstacle course thing is fun to me.
23:05Listen, that guy is never going to forget it.
23:07You know, my son is in the league and he's done it since third grade.
23:11And I always get an NFL player to pick the draft order.
23:14I've had Bichon pick, you know, who gets the top pick.
23:18You know, Pat Sertan do it.
23:19Justin Jefferson, the kids couldn't get enough.
23:22So, that's pretty cool for them.
23:24That's about as great as it gets.
23:25I don't know about the obstacle course.
23:26I mean, I have trouble, you know, putting walking and chewing gum at the same time.
23:30But I like where your brain's at.
23:32Jason, let me ask you this.
23:33And I want everyone to chime in here.
23:35What's your most irrational fantasy football take that you have, that you know is out there,
23:43but you study it, you have the numbers, the facts, the figures, but you just can't shake it.
23:50Yeah, it's really stupid.
23:53But I think Geno Smith is going to be really great for the Jets.
23:58I agree with you.
23:59I agree with you.
24:01For fantasy.
24:02Like, he's going to be bad.
24:03I'm sorry.
24:04But for fantasy, you're talking about a team last year that was like, they didn't throw
24:07for 2,500 yards as a team.
24:09Geno can get it done.
24:10So, I'm like big on Garrett Wilson this year.
24:13I think that his floor is super high.
24:16He's not being drafted like a superstar, and he could be a superstar.
24:19I just think Geno's enough.
24:21He is enough for fantasy.
24:23And it feels irrational, but that's where I am.
24:26I feel dumb, but there I am.
24:28And I'm probably right.
24:30Andy, how about you?
24:31Yeah, I think it's actually a similar vein for me in the sense that I think, against
24:37my better judgment and my hometown team, that the Arizona Cardinals offense is going to
24:41be great this year.
24:42I just think Jacoby Brissett, Michael Wilson, Marvin Harrison, Trey McBride, Jeremiah Love,
24:49I think that for a team that's projected to win three and a half games, for fantasy, we
24:53want, you know, you want the yards to pile up.
24:56And I think Marv's going to have a better year and redeem a little bit of that draft stock
24:59and that excitement.
25:00I don't like it.
25:01I don't.
25:02We've said enough negative things about the Cardinals on the show for the last six months
25:05and probably most of our lives.
25:07It's time for me to come out and publicly say I just irrationally think it's going to
25:12work out for fantasy for the Cardinals.
25:13Christian Watson is going to win fantasy football leagues, a player who has never played a full
25:20season, a player who has never surpassed 620 receiving yards.
25:24But out of the Green Bay Packers with the way that with Romeo Dobbs and Dontavian Wicks
25:29out, the rotation of the wide receivers, I think goes way down.
25:32I think the running game isn't as strong this year with Jacobs being the inefficiencies creeping
25:38up in the age, getting up there.
25:40And Christian Watson is the real deal.
25:42He just hasn't been able to stay on the field.
25:44And I think that we're finally going to get it.
25:47All right.
25:47I'm with you on Gino.
25:49I'm with you on the Arizona Cardinals.
25:51I'm not with you on Watson.
25:53I do think Marv is going to end up being the guy.
25:56I mean, of all things, that's the one that I disagree with.
25:58But that's why it's an irrational take.
26:01All right.
26:02Which NFL coach do you liken yourself to as a fantasy manager?
26:07Let's go around the horn on this one.
26:09I know mine.
26:10Yeah.
26:10I've got mine as well.
26:11I'll kick it off first.
26:12You might have to tell me mine.
26:14Yeah, we might.
26:15I'm going to go with Sean Payton.
26:18I think Sean Payton is my comp because he's really good.
26:24But he's not necessarily likable.
26:26His ego's out of control.
26:28You know, he can win without grace.
26:32And I can, too.
26:33I can, too.
26:35So, that's where it's like.
26:36And, you know, he's such a talented coach.
26:39And I'm such a talented.
26:41Oh, boy.
26:42You know, that's where I caught myself.
26:44I will give you a recent quote from the coach I'm going to count myself to.
26:48I want to have the highest scoring offense ever, which happens to be the 2013 Denver Broncos.
26:54I know how many points per game they scored.
26:56And I want to surpass them.
26:58I want shutouts.
26:59I want blowouts.
27:00I'm talking about Ben Johnson of the Chicago Bears, offensive guru.
27:04And as of just playing fantasy football, a coach even whispering that.
27:11And not even like this was full.
27:13I mean, he's been chest out before.
27:16He ripped the shirt off, popped that top.
27:18When a coach is like, no, we don't want to just win.
27:21We want to embarrass people.
27:23That's what we're talking about.
27:25I love that.
27:26I feel like that's the heart and soul of fantasy football to begin with.
27:30I just want to be a coach that has general manager powers.
27:33The amount of transactions I make on my fantasy team, I need to have control.
27:37Maybe you go back to old school Belichick and getting the moves made that need to happen.
27:41But I want general manager powers as a coach.
27:44What is the dumbest thing you've ever convinced yourself was a great fantasy take?
27:52Mine's recent and real bad.
27:56Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
27:57Here I said I was a good analyst.
27:59I'm about to undo that.
28:01I was varying on Caleb Johnson last year.
28:04I mean, he was a guy that I...
28:06What team is he on, Jason?
28:07He is currently on the Steelers last year's rookie, who I do not expect to make the roster.
28:14He's been pretty much as bad of an NFL draft pick as possible.
28:20He fumbled away a Steelers game last year.
28:23Has never recovered from that moment.
28:25Obviously hasn't done enough in camp, behind the scenes.
28:29I don't know who he angered for, you know, in personal relationships.
28:33The team went out and then signed Rico Dowdle.
28:36They drafted other running backs.
28:39I loved him.
28:40I mean, I really genuinely put my, you know, flag on...
28:43I really believe that Caleb Johnson was a great collegiate running back who was going to translate...
28:48And that's where it's going to stop.
28:49...to the NFL.
28:50And I will take the L on that one.
28:53And that's a capital L.
28:55I just remember, we're about to do a live show out here in Phoenix.
28:58Oh, man, you're probably going to...
28:59And we do a bold prediction.
29:01We do a live show every single time we do a live show.
29:03And we were just looking back at some of our old ones.
29:05And boy, I got up on a stage in front of a bunch of people and told them that the
29:09Jets
29:09were going to win the Super Bowl a couple of years ago.
29:12Was that the Rodgers year?
29:13It was the Rodgers year.
29:15I had them in the Super Bowl that year.
29:17I don't think that's crazy.
29:19Listen, I still stand by that take.
29:22Like, sometimes something doesn't work out.
29:24You never know.
29:25Four plays in, we'll never know.
29:26We weren't wrong.
29:27It was incomplete.
29:29That's it.
29:29That's right.
29:30I think, I mean, it's recency bias, and you guys seem to think it's going to be okay.
29:36But we told everyone that there is no possible way that Marvin Harrison Jr.
29:40is a bust in the NFL or for fantasy football.
29:44Maybe he's not as great as we think he could be, but it has been...
29:50It's getting closer.
29:51It's been a disaster based off of what he was supposed to be so far.
29:56I thought he was an absolute lock, and the Cardinals did too.
29:59I mean, I had Monty Austin Ford on my SiriusXM radio show.
30:02He basically said as much.
30:03I mean, every time he drops a ball, I'm still stunned.
30:06I mean, that's where I'm at when it comes to Marv.
30:08All right.
30:09Give us a personal, and tell us the reason why, I'll never draft this guy again player,
30:15and what he did to you to become that guy.
30:18I had one that would really hurt me on a personal level.
30:24We usually try to forgive guys.
30:26We try to forgive guys, so it's not often that we're like, hey, he's off my board no matter what.
30:31But P. Rivers, Phillip Rivers, he...
30:36Oh, my gosh, dude.
30:37I was on the way to fantasy glory, and all I needed, the only thing I needed him to do
30:43was not throw like five interceptions in a game.
30:46That was it, and he couldn't stop.
30:48He couldn't stop throwing interceptions.
30:50I'm surprised my television made it through that day.
30:53I don't know how I didn't throw something at it.
30:56I was so infuriated, and I would never at that point ever draft Phillip Rivers again,
31:01which turned out to be great for me.
31:04Obviously, that's a couple years old, but he was nicknamed P. Rivers from that point forward.
31:09That's not a great nickname, Jason.
31:11For our show, no.
31:11It's really not.
31:13He deserved every...
31:14But that did make for a great episode of the show.
31:16It did.
31:16Do you have somebody in that category, Mike?
31:18Because I don't feel like I have a name that sticks out other than...
31:20It's tougher because we do...
31:23We try to be rational as much as we can and say, like, this is a different year,
31:29whatever that player did to you last year.
31:32You know, we just talked about it on today's show, and I brought up, I'm like,
31:35all the people who said, I'll never draft Christian McCaffrey again.
31:38And what he did to me, whoever drafted McCaffrey last year, I think there's a pretty strong odds
31:46that that person at least made it to the championship, probably won.
31:51The guy who's, like, closest to it, it's DK Metcalf.
31:56I knew that was going to be the name.
31:57On the Steelers, because I just...
31:58I've never been a Metcalf guy.
32:01Like, I don't think he's bad by any stretch.
32:05I just...
32:05I never bought into the hype the way that people really did.
32:09I'm with it.
32:10And then he goes to the Steelers.
32:12He gets the bag.
32:13They back up the truck of gold bullion.
32:16And you're thinking, he's got to be safe.
32:19He's going to...
32:20He has to get so many targets, which is...
32:22You know, we just...
32:23We search for targets for that volume when we're drafting our fantasy wide receivers.
32:29And I got him last year.
32:31I said, you know what?
32:32I'm going to bite my tongue on this one.
32:34I'm going to admit maybe I'm wrong here.
32:36And I wasn't wrong!
32:38DK Metcalf was a disaster last year.
32:41Yeah, I think anytime you have a player that we've talked about on the show as being...
32:46Like, they show a tremendous amount of promise.
32:48And this is the year it's going to work out.
32:50So, for years, it was Terry McLaurin.
32:52Yes.
32:52It was DJ Moore.
32:53And it was like, you know the player's great, and then something goes wrong.
32:57You know, I think without Kenneth Walker moving to Kansas City, he would have been the answer
33:01to the question for me.
33:02Like, something always goes wrong for Kenneth Walker.
33:05So, you know, the careers are not long, but sometimes the burns, they last a couple of
33:10seasons.
33:11I started playing fantasy, baseball and football, in the third grade.
33:16I have a father-son league with my son, who's now 11, going into sixth grade.
33:22And they're football obsessed, right?
33:24They got 12 kids with their dads Monday, you know, Labor Day Monday.
33:29They have a draft.
33:30It's unbelievable.
33:31What do you think is the right age to start playing fantasy?
33:35And are you ever too old to play fantasy?
33:40Oh, well...
33:41God, never.
33:41I can answer the too old.
33:43We have a writer who just shared with us, one of our writers just shared with us that
33:49her 92-year-old grandmother was listening to the show and has her draft kit and is all
33:56talking smack.
33:58So, there's definitely not an end cap.
34:01I think it's going to keep you young, and all that emotion will be good.
34:05You're sharp.
34:06It's good for the mind.
34:06Yeah, I feel like accessibility to it is, like, it's younger and younger, I think, is
34:11probably the right answer with, like, you know, the tech and just being able to follow
34:17it on your iPad or your phone or, like, doing that.
34:20Like, for my kids, I just let it happen.
34:23And it seemed like for one of them, it didn't that much.
34:25And then the other one, it was, like, really into it at about probably that third, fourth,
34:30fifth grade level where the numbers and being able to watch on Sunday and, like, I think
34:35all the tech integration for fantasy really helps just make it more entertaining and fun.
34:40And they've got stuff like the, what, the Nickelodeon game and things that get people
34:44into the sport all together.
34:45I think it's just when the, when, if your kid's, like, really showing interest in football.
34:50Yeah, he's my co-manager.
34:51You know what I mean?
34:52He's along for the ride.
34:53What you don't want to do is force the kid in, and then you're just, now I'm managing
34:57a team against children.
34:59And how embarrassing is that?
35:01You don't want to be that guy.
35:02Never want to be that guy.
35:03No.
35:04Because either you win, and you're supposed to, or you lost to children, and you have
35:08to never tell anyone about it again.
35:10So, it's just, once the interest level is there, and in third grade, that seems very
35:16reasonable.
35:17All right, what's your take on Sunday when it comes to, let's say, an hour before kickoff?
35:23Because I struggle with this, especially, and I'm DFS obsessed, right?
35:28Tinker?
35:29Don't tinker.
35:30What's the thought process?
35:32What's the strategy?
35:33When do you lock in and say, I've got the guy, I've got the take, I'm not looking at weather
35:39forecasts, or that?
35:40Are you a tinker or non-tinker?
35:43We've done it all.
35:44We've done it all.
35:45I think tinkering is usually a mistake.
35:47You want to be up to date on the information.
35:49You bring up weather.
35:51Sometimes that's going to change something.
35:52If it's outrageously bad or an injury, make sure you're absolutely waiting till kickoff
35:58and setting your lineup.
35:59But more often than not, it's like, oh, I shouldn't have made that move.
36:03The last second moves, they've burned me.
36:04Yeah, if you're switching narratives, I think that's what it is.
36:07If you've told yourself a story on a few guys, then you convince yourself of the truth,
36:11and then you get right before kickoff, and you start going back over the stories.
36:15We all do it, but I would definitely say it's a mistake 70% of the time.
36:21Yeah, I agree.
36:23Definitely a mistake 70% of the time.
36:25I could not agree with that more.
36:27You guys are phenomenal when it comes to takes and predictions and analysis.
36:32That's why everyone watches, everyone listens, why I'm obsessed.
36:36I want to know your best fantasy football preseason call you've ever made,
36:41and one that you want back as well.
36:45Oh, well, that's another story.
36:48I would say my favorite all-time preseason call was Arian Foster of the Houston Texans
36:53because he was buried on a depth chart.
36:56It's like my greatest victory lap of all time, and I took him.
37:02You know what I mean?
37:02It wasn't just a take.
37:03It was like, this guy, look, I did it, and then I benefited from it.
37:07So it was like he's like my all-time favorite fantasy player
37:10simply because of how that worked out on the positive side.
37:14When you get to call your own shot on something that's rare
37:17and then you're right, oh, the glory.
37:19Oh, the glory.
37:20For me, I would say, and actually it's me and Andy,
37:23we saw the same thing at the same time when backup quarterback Kurt Warner
37:30was dominating.
37:31He was dominating in preseason.
37:34Yeah, when Matt Leiner was supposed to be the starter.
37:36When Matt Leiner was supposed to be the starter,
37:37he was just so good that it was like I rushed to the waiver wire
37:41to pick up Kurt Warner, and lo and behold,
37:45I saw that like minutes before Andy got him, he went on.
37:50Did you win a championship that year with Kurt Warner?
37:52I mean, it was really bad, but that one was fun to see,
37:57to witness, to rush to action.
38:00Sadly, it worked out for you and not me, but that one was really cool.
38:04I do have an answer on the terrible one.
38:07It was Dante Pettis of the San Francisco 49ers
38:11who was absolutely on fire in the rookie year,
38:17to end the rookie year, and then all of a sudden we're getting to the point,
38:20we do these My Guys every year on the show where we have to plant our flag,
38:23and I finally say the name, and then like the next two weeks
38:27couldn't have been worse press for Dante Pettis.
38:29I have to, the only time in this show we've withdrawn a recommendation,
38:33but he is forever attached to my name, and I regret it.
38:38I mean, there's just so many.
38:40Okay.
38:42Let me talk about how great I am.
38:44We got this.
38:45You have to be last year.
38:46It has to be Christian McCaffrey.
38:48That one felt good, but it's like everyone just knew McCaffrey's good,
38:53but my chips were all in.
38:55One I am extremely proud of was we had our bold predictions show,
39:01which is where you're saying things that you think they can happen,
39:05but it's a spicy meatball.
39:08And 2019, Melvin Gordon was the starting running back
39:13of the Los Angeles Chargers, or they might have been San Diego.
39:17I don't know.
39:17And there was the undrafted free agent, Austin Eckler,
39:21who was starting to make some noise.
39:24And I went on bold predictions, and I said,
39:26Austin Eckler's going to be a top 12 running back this year.
39:29Not drafted anywhere near that.
39:31And Melvin Gordon held out for four games.
39:34And then Austin Eckler ends up breaking out and breaking fantasy,
39:39where he ends up being the number six overall running back on the season.
39:43That's a good one.
39:43That's a terrific call.
39:45All right.
39:45I want to get your take on this.
39:46And we've had Pat Sertan for my son's league,
39:49pick who is going to get the first pick this year.
39:52And I argue with my son about this all the time,
39:56and my opinion has changed through the years.
39:5912-person snake draft.
40:02What's the best spot to pick?
40:04Number one.
40:05It changes every year.
40:06Yeah, every year it's different.
40:08Some years there's five, like, all in the same tier,
40:12and then I want the fifth pick.
40:13I want the highest second-round pick possible
40:16when I'm getting someone in the same tier.
40:18I personally, it's different for everybody,
40:21I put Jameer Gibbs in his own world.
40:24I think that he's going to score more fantasy points
40:26than any other running, maybe of all time.
40:29I think he could break, you know, LaDainian Tomlinson's record.
40:32So, I want him.
40:33And the nice thing about it, sometimes it's not worth it,
40:36but this year the guys at the 2-3 turn, I really like.
40:39I don't look at the guys that are a few spots before
40:43and be like, man, I wish I was a couple spots higher.
40:45So, if I can start with Gibbs
40:48and then have really quality players at 2-3,
40:51I don't mind it at all.
40:53Yeah, a lot of years I feel like we say we want to be
40:54as far back as the final upper-tier running back
40:59or maybe wide receiver.
41:01This year, when we've done mock drafts,
41:03being at 8, 9, 10, 11,
41:05it feels like the teams are not coming out
41:08as well as we'd like.
41:10Maybe it's just because we're having to stare down
41:12the decision on, is Jefferson going to be okay
41:14with Kyler Murray?
41:16Questions like that.
41:17But I'm with you this year.
41:18I think it is the number one overall spot.
41:21But it does.
41:22It changes every single year,
41:23and obviously you want to maximize value.
41:26How early should you take a quarterback this year
41:30in a draft?
41:31Give us your top five fantasy quarterbacks this year
41:35and a guy at quarterback that you have undervalued.
41:39So the timing of this question is funny.
41:42We just did a top 10 tips and tricks for this year,
41:45and one of my points was I was bringing up the fantasy football,
41:50it's a market.
41:52It's a stock exchange.
41:55You need to kind of understand how the game actually works.
41:58And right now the market,
42:00the upper tier elite quarterbacks that years ago would be going
42:04in the first round and then some in the second round,
42:07they're going later.
42:09They're going in the middle rounds.
42:10And we have mentioned it's not the best to spend that high of a pick
42:15on a quarterback because of the opportunity cost for the rest of your team
42:19because of the rest of the market.
42:20But now you can get guys like Jaden Daniels in the fifth round.
42:23You can get Jalen Hurts in the fifth,
42:26sometimes even the sixth round,
42:27guys who can be real elite difference makers at the position.
42:32So we're staying open to those.
42:35There's later round guys that are very fun.
42:39Like I think Trevor Lawrence is being massively undervalued right now.
42:44We're all so caught up in arguing it's Parker Washington.
42:48You're like, no, it's Jacoby Myers.
42:49No, I think Brian Thomas resurges this year.
42:53All those points go to Trevor Lawrence at the end of the day.
42:56And he ended the season on fire.
42:59After the bye week, Trevor Lawrence was like a top three fantasy quarterback,
43:02but he's not being drafted that way.
43:04So he's an undervalued guy,
43:06but we're open to taking quarterback in the fifth round this year.
43:09Yeah.
43:09I think you can take quarterback wherever the,
43:12they're not overpriced this year throughout the draft,
43:15but to give you my top five in a,
43:17in a four point per passing touchdown league,
43:19my fifth quarterback is definitely the one I think is undervalued.
43:22And I would love to draft them later.
43:24My top five in that format goes Josh Allen,
43:27Lamar Jackson,
43:28Jalen hurts,
43:29Joe burrow,
43:31and Jackson dart.
43:33Oh,
43:34goodness.
43:34In a four point per passing touchdown league.
43:37There are only three guys in the league that can rush for 800 yards at the
43:41quarterback position.
43:43Lamar could do it.
43:44I don't think he does it at this point anymore.
43:45He was,
43:46he was far away from it last year.
43:48Jaden Daniels can get back to it,
43:49but he's costing a much higher pick and Jackson dart can do it.
43:54And he is a ninth round option.
43:56So to me,
43:57it's tough because if you play that game and you wait and you lose out,
44:01then it's like,
44:02Oh man,
44:02I should have just taken Josh Allen.
44:03Great.
44:03But I think he's one of the best values in the draft because he can break
44:07fantasy with his legs.
44:10Fascinated to get a take at the running back position.
44:13I'm high on Ashton Jenthe.
44:15I was very high on Ashton Jenthe last year.
44:17That obviously did not hit.
44:19My son drafted him in the first round over McCaffrey,
44:22but then he got,
44:23he won the league.
44:23He got Jonathan Taylor round two,
44:25Jackson Smith and Jigbo round three.
44:27He would draft him again.
44:28I would as well.
44:30Give us your top five running backs in fantasy football for this year.
44:35And a couple of sleepers at the running back position.
44:39Yeah,
44:39it's a great question.
44:40You always want to hit on,
44:41I mean,
44:41they can completely dominate and win your league.
44:44We have Gibbs at number one right now.
44:46Bijon sitting at two.
44:49Christian McCaffrey,
44:50James Cook,
44:50Jonathan Taylor.
44:51That's our consensus top five right now.
44:53I think the guy that is exciting that could move into an upper echelon tier
44:59with the new home is Ken Walker in Kansas city.
45:01He's somebody that,
45:02you know,
45:03or you want to have 300 plus opportunities pushing,
45:06hopefully three 50.
45:08That's one name.
45:09I think Omari and Hampton in Los Angeles with the chargers is another name
45:13we're paying close attention to because we like the play caller.
45:16We like what we saw on the field last year,
45:18but he was banged up and hurt and is still a tremendously young guy.
45:22And I love Jinty too.
45:24I think we're on team Jinty.
45:25He is just expensive in fantasy compared to some of those other names where
45:31you do have to,
45:32he has to perform right up to that draft cost.
45:34Yeah.
45:34If you compare him versus Hampton,
45:36I think Jinty is a better player than Hampton.
45:39The problem is the opportunity and the team around them.
45:42We,
45:43we,
45:43we look at,
45:44you know,
45:45of top three selected the first three rounds in fantasy football,
45:49those running backs that go,
45:50the ones that are on teams projected for fewer than seven and a half wins all,
45:55you know,
45:56they hit at like a 30% rate.
45:58So it's really scary to have a guy like Jinty taken ahead of a guy like
46:03Hampton.
46:03And when you're on a bad team that you're not sure is going to win six games
46:06versus a team that could be a Superbowl contender as a good defense has an
46:10improved offensive line and has way more touchdown opportunities.
46:13So it makes Devon HN really hard in Miami.
46:16The talent is amazing.
46:17The team not projected to win a lot of games.
46:20There's a handful of guys that we love,
46:22but they're,
46:23they're on teams,
46:23bad teams.
46:24I mean,
46:25Jeremiah 11,
46:25Arizona is a tough one.
46:27He's amazing.
46:28And he'll probably work out.
46:30Will it be this year?
46:31Will it be the second half?
46:32It's you want to be around the goal line.
46:34And that's the one advantage Hampton has.
46:35Yeah.
46:36Some later round running backs that are undervalued.
46:38I think Deandre Swift is probably being drafted behind where he should be
46:41drafted.
46:42You've got some middle of the pack guys that you,
46:45you know,
46:46Bill Krosky merit.
46:47Yes.
46:47That was the name I was going to bring.
46:48You know,
46:48he might be able to break out and really late.
46:50I like Jordan Mason to lead the Vikings and he's a very late draft pick
46:54over,
46:56you know,
46:57over Aaron Jones.
46:58Aaron Jones.
46:58Yeah.
46:59You guys referenced it before Justin Jefferson,
47:02who I'm obsessed with.
47:03And I'm not a Kyler guy in general,
47:06but I think Kyler can be great for Justin Jefferson and with KOC in
47:12Minnesota.
47:13And I'm high on the Vikings this year.
47:15And I think Jefferson is going to be back to doing Justin Jefferson
47:18things.
47:18Give us your top five wide receivers.
47:21I do love Jefferson.
47:23I love CD lamb.
47:24I wouldn't be surprised if Nico Collins pushed higher on lists this
47:29year and give us some sleeper wide receivers.
47:33Yeah.
47:34The Jefferson thing is so interesting.
47:35Cause we've seen like when Hopkins was in his prime,
47:38he had a year where he just disappeared from fantasy.
47:41They figured the quarterback thing out.
47:43Larry Fitzgerald in Arizona has done that.
47:45Our top five right now,
47:46chase Puka Nakua,
47:48JSN,
47:50Amon Ross,
47:50St.
47:50Brown and CD lamb.
47:52That's the top five guys that we have.
47:54But Nico is right there.
47:56Jaden Higgins injury.
47:57Moving him up to that.
47:58You know,
47:59the target share is going to be really high.
48:00And then for our consensus ranks,
48:02Jefferson's the next man up in that group in a half PPR league.
48:06Some later round guys,
48:08Christian Watson,
48:09Mike brought them up earlier.
48:09I am also a believer.
48:11If healthy without Dobbs,
48:13without Don Tavian Wicks,
48:15with Tucker craft coming back slowly,
48:16could be a player to pay attention to.
48:18And then Marvin Harrison is a really low draft pick.
48:22And I,
48:22I,
48:22you,
48:22you said you believed.
48:23I said,
48:24I believed I I'm coming around on Marv this year.
48:27Chris Godwin in Tampa.
48:29That's a great one.
48:30I mean,
48:30he's just forgotten.
48:32Yeah.
48:32Right.
48:32Emeka book is the exciting,
48:34fun player.
48:34We don't have turf toe.
48:36We don't know what's going on turf toe.
48:37So it's one of those things where you got to pay attention to value and fantasy players.
48:42We get tired of certain names and they get discounted.
48:45And then look for Alec Pierce to come back late in the season.
48:47I'd throw that out there too.
48:48And one other name to throw out Dajon Stribling,
48:51the rookie wide receiver for the San Francisco 49ers,
48:54been getting a ton of buzz and all their wide receivers are just,
48:56I mean,
48:57Mike Evans is dealing with his 10th injury since getting to San Francisco.
49:02Ricky Pierce all's out for the year.
49:04They lost you on Jennings.
49:05They got to throw the ball somewhere.
49:06It's good offense.
49:07And,
49:07and he's been getting a lot of buzz.
49:09He's so late in drafts right now.
49:11All right.
49:11Last one for you guys.
49:13How soon in a draft this year,
49:15can I say the name Brock Bowers?
49:17And give us some tight ends that are going to make owners look smart.
49:23Honestly,
49:23second round is perfectly fine for Brock.
49:26Absolutely.
49:26It's totally fine.
49:27But I am personally willing to take him at the back of the first round.
49:31I think when you get there,
49:32there are,
49:33there are guys that all of a sudden you switch from known perfect commodities to,
49:38to questions.
49:39You know,
49:39we bring up Gentry and it's like,
49:40okay,
49:41I see how it could not work for him.
49:42I don't see how it doesn't work for Brock Bowers.
49:44And if he is the number one or number two tight end,
49:47you're not going to regret that pick.
49:49So I know you're supposed to take him in the second.
49:51I'm okay.
49:52At the end of the first,
49:54as far as a tight end,
49:56I'll give one name.
49:57The other guys can give a name.
49:59Dalton Kincaid.
50:00He is a super good tight end who has been very,
50:04very injured.
50:04He only played 38% of the snaps last year,
50:07but on a yards per route run basis,
50:09he was number one in the league.
50:11So if he's actually healthy and he,
50:12he appears healthy,
50:13why not take a shot at the bills offense?
50:15You know,
50:16for a talented tight end.
50:18Yeah.
50:19I was just saying my late round guy is going to be,
50:21it's Dallas garden,
50:23Goddard in Philadelphia,
50:23because Makai lemons hasn't had much time at training camp.
50:28AJ Brown is obviously gone.
50:29And whenever AJ Brown or Devante Smith missed games,
50:32Goddard was obviously the beneficiary.
50:34We haven't heard anything about Eli Stowers this off season.
50:37So I think that's a sneaky one.
50:38And I'm going with a Juwan Johnson of the new Orleans saints who,
50:44you know,
50:44last year,
50:45Nick under Hills.
50:46He's an amazing beat reporter for,
50:49for the saints.
50:49And he was telling us,
50:51Juwan Johnson is going to be involved,
50:52involved more than people realize.
50:54And he finishes as the tight end 10.
50:57And with Jordan Tyson coming in,
50:59I was kind of concerned.
51:00Can,
51:00can Juwan really command more target share?
51:03Well,
51:03now Jordan Tyson's missing at least two months.
51:06And that's,
51:07this isn't at least where his hamstring situation is now into a scary red zone
51:12of,
51:13do we end up losing an entire rookie season?
51:16And I think Tyler Shuck is the truth.
51:18Once he started,
51:19once he took over as a starter,
51:20he was,
51:21he would have,
51:22we call it the 17 game pace of,
51:24so like the production he put up,
51:26his 17 game pace was over 4,200 passing yards.
51:29And that was without Jordan Tyson.
51:31That was with Chris Olave and Juwan Johnson.
51:34So he,
51:35he is a player to me that is,
51:36he's already had fantasy success and the,
51:39the opportunity around him just got better.
51:41And the aforementioned Nick Underhill has,
51:45he been banging the drum saying Juwan Johnson looks awesome yet again,
51:48in this year's training camp.
51:50So if you miss on everybody,
51:51I think you can,
51:53with your last pick,
51:53take Juwan and,
51:55and have a guy who's at least going to get you through the first few weeks
51:58of the season.
51:59Absolutely.
51:59Mike,
52:00Jason,
52:00Andy,
52:01you guys are absolutely the best.
52:02That was so much fun.
52:04And a reminder to my shine squad,

52:24You guys are the best.
52:25We appreciate the time.
52:27Have a great season.
52:28And we'll talk to you again real soon.
52:29Sounds good.
52:30Thank you,
52:31man,
52:31for having us.
52:33Coming up next,
52:34Fernando Tatis absolutely owned the Mets last night at Citi Field.
52:38Plus,
52:39we've got the latest on the Dodgers and the Yankees.
52:42Also,
52:42would you rather be an athlete or an actor?
52:46More to come on Chime Time.
53:07Did you hear the groan from the crowd at Citi Field when Fernando Tatis robbed that grand slam from Francisco
53:14Lindor last night?
53:15I would make this case.
53:17I would make this case.
53:18This was the single best performance by a baseball player all season long.
53:24I thought what Tatis did against the Mets was jaw dropping.
53:29That was as sensational a defensive play as you could have.
53:33And it really just sucked the life out of the stadium.
53:36And, you know, the Mets have been hot, stunningly, since the trade deadline.
53:40San Diego has also been on fire.
53:43They're currently the sixth team, and they're in the playoffs if the season ended today.
53:47And I really think that the Padres are going to make the playoffs.
53:50And I think they're going to be a force.
53:52They're going to be a factor in the playoffs.
53:53And, hell, I wouldn't even rule out if they beat the Dodgers in the first round of the postseason.
54:00Tatis also in the game hit a couple of home runs.
54:03So I would absolutely believe that this was as great a performance as you could have for any player.
54:09It was just show-stopping.
54:11And I love when he did the mean mug.
54:14He knew he had his moments.
54:15It was his time to shine.
54:16I loved every single second of it.
54:19And Fernando Tatis, first half of the season, batting average in the toilet.
54:23I thought in the second half, I mean, he's been on fire when Tatis is doing his thing.
54:28Look, and he can rub you the wrong way if he's not on your team.
54:31I love Fernando Tatis.
54:33I love his energy.
54:33I love his game.
54:34I love his style.
54:35I love his bat.
54:36I love his glove.
54:36I love his arm.
54:37I love everything about Fernando Tatis.
54:40That was really cool stuff.
54:42Loved it when you take a look at Fernando Tatis robbing a grand slam and hitting a couple of bombs
54:48last night.
54:49For the Padres.
54:50My Yankees got the win last night.
54:52St. Carlos Rodon's return to the hill.
54:53Rodon, four rings, gave one run, struck out four.
54:56But how about our guy George Lombard Jr.'s defense shining once again.
55:00Trent Grisham drove in all three runs for the Bombers.
55:033-1 win for the Yankees in Baltimore.
55:06And the Orioles had been hot.
55:08They took a bunch of games against Tampa.
55:11And Lombard Jr.'s defense was unbelievable.
55:15Loved it.
55:15And so did Rodon when you saw Lombard go into the hole and make an unbelievable play, which is the
55:21norm.
55:23You saw Rodon, didn't have to be a classic lip reader to understand what he was saying.
55:28You know, basically saying, I absolutely love this mother bleeper.
55:33I can't get enough.
55:34I'll tell you, though.
55:35I live for Lombard Jr.
55:37Absolutely love his defense.
55:39Love his approach to the plate.
55:40Love when he goes opposite field.
55:42Love his arm, love his range, love his glove.
55:44I also can't fully love it because every time I watch him play, I think of how Brian Cashman and
55:52Aaron Boone refused to bring this guy up all season long.
55:57And we, as Yankees fans, have to watch that loser, Anthony Volpe, at shortstop.
56:03Can you imagine what would have transpired if Volpe was in last night?
56:07He would have taken that ball in the hole and kicked it into the dugout.
56:10He would have taken it and threw it into Boone's barbecue in right field.
56:13I mean, that is just atrocious, the fact that because of Boone and Cashman and their clueless and their ego,
56:20we have to watch Volpe all season long at shortstop.
56:24Lombard is a breath of fresh air.
56:27I love this guy.
56:29Rodon, I mean, you know, basically getting all jazzed up last night because he hasn't had a guy like that
56:35at shortstop since he's been a pitcher for the Yankees.
56:38Because he had to deal with Volpe.
56:42Obviously, out west of the Dodgers, we talked about it on Shine Time yesterday, the struggles of closer Edwin Diaz.
56:50Well, yesterday, the Dodgers placed Edwin Diaz on the injured list with an inflated ERA.
56:58Well, technically, they called it a neck injury, but I'm going to call it inflammation of the earned run average,
57:0512th.
57:06What a disaster.
57:07Diaz previously missed three months after having surgery to remove the loose bodies from his pitching elbow.
57:14Suffice to say, the Dodgers cannot rely on him at any point, and it's a mess.
57:19Now, there is some good news, obviously, for L.A.
57:22They won again last night.
57:23It's just the Rockies.
57:24But Dodgers had been, you know, so bad for so many weeks, under .500 since July 1st.
57:31You have to be able to win these games, have to be able to take care of business.
57:36Shohei Otani, another homer, also threw another bullpen session.
57:40So, that counts as a good thing here for Los Angeles.
57:43But, listen, you know, Otani, number 30 on the season at the plate.
57:48I still believe PCA is the National League MVP.
57:51But that is great news here for the L.A. Dodgers.
57:55But wait, there's more.
58:02Since Tony Bengals' rookie defensive back, Sair Reitz, walking away from his shot of football's biggest stage to pursue his
58:09other passion, an acting career.
58:12Reitz, an undrafted free agent who played at USC in Nebraska, told Bengals coach Zach Taylor of his decision over
58:20the weekend.
58:21Now, his acting resume includes roles in seven films and television shows, most notably as LeBron James' son in the
58:312021 movie Space Jam, A New Legacy.
58:35So, what's the better career, the athlete or the actor?
58:39Well, I think it depends what level of actor and athlete you happen to be.
58:44If you're right, I mean, yeah, I get it.
58:48I mean, it's a little safer to go play and, you know, go be an actor as opposed to playing
58:54in the National Football League.
58:55More job security.
58:57And, you know, obviously, you know, you think of actors who always want to be athletes, athletes who always want
59:03to be actors.
59:05Good luck to Mr. Wright.
59:06You know, obviously, when it comes to acting, he's got the right stuff.
59:10As a professional athlete, not so much.
59:13I mean, you always get one random thing during training camp.
59:16Professional football players saying, I'm good, I'm going to go act.
59:21Wasn't on my bingo card.
59:22That's the show.
59:23If you miss any portion of the show, just do what I do and watch it over and over and
59:26over again.
