00:00Let's take you to the North Central region now. This is where storms brought grapple to the Ohio region yesterday.
00:06Take a look. You might have noticed this. We've got some in central Pennsylvania too. So at first you might
00:11think that it's hail that's falling, but if you look closely, it's kind of in between a snowflake and a
00:17hailstone because it's softer. You can crush grapple like you can snow, but it is a fully formed pellet. It
00:24all has to do with temperatures as this, what starts as an ice pellet or an ice
00:29crystal comes out of the cloud and falls towards the ground. We have more storms to talk about. More grapple
00:37potentially somewhat. Here's the pattern change I was talking about for next week, but now let's skip ahead to the
00:44severe weather into the Ohio Valley. This is coming Thursday and especially you want to pay attention because what else
00:50is Thursday? Opening day. A lot of festivities going on, especially in Chicago, Cincinnati and St. Louis. That's where you
00:57have home games for opening day.
00:59But even Indianapolis, I mean, major cities, it's going to be a nice day. People are going to be out
01:04and about and then the thunderstorms are going to hit. So let's take a look at future radar and how
01:08all of this plays out Wednesday. Not bad. Even the rest of today, we're mostly dry going through Wednesday morning
01:15afternoon. There's a few showers that move in Thursday morning though already in some cases, widespread heavy rainfall and then
01:23it just gets worse. Now, a lot of the day is going to be okay, but for somewhere like Chicago,
01:29it's around five.
01:295 p.m. We start to see the storms for places like Cincinnati, St. Louis. It's really not until the
01:34overnight that we're going to get the worst of it. When it comes to the severe threats, what you're most
01:40likely to see, here's how they rank. It's mostly a damaging wind event with hail concerns and for some of
01:45you, flash flooding. We can't rule out an isolated tornado or two, but it's a low end threat. Still, you
01:52want to take it seriously. You want to be prepared for a tornado just in case. Here's the area we're
01:57most concerned about for that flash flooding.
01:59This is where you're most likely to get the heavy downpours that can lead to at least a little bit
02:03of ponding. So you want to keep that in mind as well. When it comes to the opening day games
02:08here in Chicago, now the game should be okay, but any postgame activities are what could be interrupted around 5
02:14p.m. But Cincinnati, I mean, things are looking great. Just make sure you get home before about 10 p
02:19.m. or so.
