00:00You know, I saw the Giants, and I think that the Eagles kind of stumbled around a little bit against
00:05the Commanders.
00:06Could be same old Cowboys, but so far, in your opinion, man, out of the gate, week one, always tough
00:12to kind of get an analysis on.
00:14But what were your takeaways in week one in the NFC East?
00:18Well, first of all, good to be with you again, Dan.
00:21The first thing that I've noticed is that the NFC East is loaded with new coordinators.
00:26Dallas has a new defensive coordinator, new head coach in New York, new offensive coordinator in Washington, new coordinator in
00:36Philadelphia, figure out who we are kind of scenario.
00:40I felt like the games were extremely competitive.
00:42I felt like it was a great opportunity, you know, for the Commanders to be able to find out who
00:48they are.
00:49Lots of new things going on.
00:50They struggled in the offensive line.
00:51I thought they did pretty well.
00:53Jaden's got his legs back underneath them.
00:56Which was really great.
00:57To see him start to move as that game went on, get better and better and better.
01:02I got to tell you, it looks like John Harbaugh is sending a message to everybody in the NFL.
01:07We're going to run the football.
01:09We're going to run it down your throat.
01:11Jackson Dart's going to have opportunities with people wide open to be able to get the ball to him.
01:16And I think they're going to be a heck of a football team to deal with.
01:19When you've got a 240-pound running back and a 300-pound fullback, I guess you might say you're going
01:25to feature the run.
01:27Absolutely.
01:27No doubt.
01:28One thing on Jaden Daniels, too.
01:30In the way that David Blau really called plays against Vic Fangio, what I was impressed with, Joe, was they
01:36kept them in the game.
01:38You know, they started getting a little bit of that run game going in there.
01:41And you know what?
01:42Let's put it on the table here.
01:44You know, you missed the PAT and you missed the field goal.
01:46There was every opportunity for them to win that football game on the road.
01:51So do you come away with that if you're Dan Quinn with more positives out of it?
01:56Listen, you can't get a lot of positives and losses, but you've got to come with at least effort a
02:00little bit there against that Eagle team.
02:02I think you have to just analyze it honestly.
02:05And I think Dan's going to look at it that way.
02:07He's going to feel like, okay, we did a lot of things good.
02:10I mean, you can't get a 15-yard penalty after you score a touchdown and take away the opportunity for
02:16a two-point conversion.
02:17It's the little things that make such a difference.
02:20In the Philadelphia Commander games, there are always one little thing, two little things that make a difference in the
02:26football game.
02:27This whole division is that way.
02:29You look at the way these games have gone over the last couple years, they're close.
02:33And that one critical mistake, that one thing that sort of sets you back a little bit, is what winds
02:39up costing you the football game.
02:41Not that you're going to play a perfect game, but you can't sort of have self-inflicted wounds as you
02:46go forward.
02:48John Harbaugh, was I right when I saw on Sunday night, you know the thing that I think he brought
02:54to the table, Joe,
02:55was you brought a lot of physicality on both sides of the lines.
02:59Your offensive line and your defensive line, that's kind of been a staple of John Harbaugh when he was in
03:05Baltimore here.
03:06And you're starting to see a little bit of that influence.
03:08Do you think we're taking them for granted there?
03:10Do you think that, I'm not saying that there may be a playoff team, the New York Giants,
03:14but do you think you're going to see a lot of improvement with that football team this year?
03:18I think you're going to see a lot of improvement.
03:20To say somebody is a playoff team right now, you know, I mean, you're just, you're guessing.
03:25Because it's a long, like, it's 16 more games to play.
03:28Lots of people could get hurt.
03:30We lost about three quarterbacks.
03:32Two didn't even start.
03:33Sam Darnold was out.
03:35You know, concussions to Kyler Murray.
03:38So you don't know what the teams are going to look like as the season goes on.
03:42You could get on a run like some did last year and all of a sudden fall off like Colts
03:47last year, for example.
03:48What were they, 8-2?
03:49And all of a sudden, they're struggling, looking for a quarterback.
03:53So you don't know exactly what's going to happen.
03:54But I'll tell you something.
03:55The Giants, foundationally, are John Harbaugh.
03:58You can see John Harbaugh's stamp on it.
04:00We're going to be physical on offense.
04:02We're going to be physical on defense.
04:04And my quarterbacks are going to get an opportunity to make plays.
04:07And that's the formula I think he's going to use in New York.
