00:12the two differences you know one year he's coaching a jared golf the next year he's coaching a guy like
00:18a caleb williams then he takes a guy who hasn't played in 1000 or i should say started in 1009
00:25games and he goes out there this guy looks like tom brady last night is he the best situational
00:30play caller and play designer and pro football right now the head coach of the bears
00:35well man good to see you uh thanks for having me on as always um i mean you have to
00:40put him in that
00:40conversation for sure ben johnson actually jokingly said after the game kind of needled in a little
00:46bit to a lot of the narrative going into the week that he's never had to have a non number
00:50one overall
00:50pick quarterback that he's had to call plays for in the nfl and he said yeah it turned out okay
00:55today didn't it um i mean i was just saying to you before we got started we're so fascinated in
01:01the nfl currently and you were mentioning college before as well of these young quarterbacks that
01:05come in that have a lot of flash that have a lot of pop and arm arm talent you know
01:09can read defenses
01:09and stuff and to me right now we're seeing in the current nfl we're going to talk about the raiders
01:14a little bit later and what they're doing with uh kirk cousins but it's all about the coaching
01:19and these and the players coming together for a perfect marriage football is the most unique
01:25sport where every single person on the field has to know exactly what they're doing at all times and
01:29then have to forget about it so then they can just go play and be free it's a it's a
01:33unique mixture
01:34and when it all comes together and that chemistry works it's just electric to watch and we saw it on
01:38full display last night case keenum as you said i mean i tweeted it was looking like prime tom brady
01:43out
01:44there he was putting the ball exactly where he needed to be he was comfortable and that goes to the
01:48coaching that goes to ben johnson scheming up the correct plays understanding vic vangio's defense
01:54and how they were going to attack that going into this game you knew 38 year old case keenum was
01:59not
01:59going to be able to be you know a top tier nfl quarterback in this particular starting spot so
02:04what do you do you put him in situations that's going to make him comfortable i mean this guy
02:07leads college football still as with a 19 000 passing yards in dan this guy knows how to sling the
02:14pill
02:14right even at 38 years old but it was just so cool to see and this is why i love
02:18the nfl and what
02:19especially the current nfl now these guys that can scheme up these situations and scheme up these
02:25plays and put their blue chip players in positions to be successful and then when the players take the
02:30coaching and then they can go out on the field and be elite it is just it's harmony in motion
02:35to watch so
02:36we're seeing it a lot in the nfl right now and we got to see it last night and uh
02:39chicago bears were uh
02:40very happy people in windy city last night how much do you think the previous week having gone
02:47against brian flores and how brian flores is a defensive guru as well you think prep them for
02:53fangio's defense because again those may be the two best coordinators in all of pro football when it
02:59comes to the defensive side of the football do you think that helped them going into this game
03:04understanding you know the two eyes shell that vic likes to play more aggressive obviously with brian
03:09flores in minnesota but when you're going against situational defensive play callers like that
03:15that know when to bring pressure when not to bring pressure how much do you think that helped them prep
03:20for this game last night no doubt it's a great point i mean it kind of tunes up your your
03:25gears to get
03:26into that mindset of understanding thinking about what the defense is going to do so then how you can
03:32utilize it offensively to what to attack so i mean preparing for brian flores is the hardest puzzle in the
03:39nfl
03:39right now he blitzes at an unbelievable rate he blitzed the bears over 70 of snaps so i mean figuring
03:45that guy out is funky but vic fangio actually in case keenum starts in the nfl was four and oh
03:51against fangio as a defensive coordinator which was fascinating going into this game so it seems like
03:55the preparation between case keenum said this going into this game the reason why he returned to play
04:00football this season and wanted to play on the chicago bears team was to be in that quarterback room
04:05and to pick the brain and be around ben johnson for what he's able to do with this offense so
04:10there was no doubt the prep going into this week that everything they dealt with looking at the
04:15schematics from brian flores's defense last week totally went into what they were looking at with
04:20this fangio defense i'm sure brian floor i'm sure that ben johnson said this case hey what are we
04:24looking at in this play in case is like i'm thinking about doing this on this you know it's all
04:28that back
04:29and forth with guys that have seen it and done it and it was again it was fantastic to see
04:33and um
04:34really fascinated i know we're going to talk about and going into next week but i mean if you're ben
04:38johnson what do you do do you start case keenum going against the jackson jets next week they brought
04:43it up on the broadcast troy akman asked joe buck about it and it's a great question i mean tyson
04:47bajin got paid money to be a backup for this team this season and they love tyson bajin in chicago
04:52he's got
04:52a similar skill set to caleb williams can move the football with his legs but obviously still a younger
04:57player that they're developing but i don't know dan looking at what i saw last night how can you
05:01sit case keenum down he looked fantastic putting the ball where it needed to be and they beat a you
05:06know very talented eagles team with ease they the eagles never really looked competitive even going
05:11later into that game to kind of climb back into it so fascinating decision for ben johnson going into week
05:16four are you going to sit down the 38 year old and let bajin play because he's cleared concussion
05:20protocol or are you going to roll with the hot hand and let keenum get out there and keep slinging
