00:00The NFL season is underway.
00:02That must mean reality hits.
00:04And that must mean the Dallas Cowboys had a taste and had a plate of reality.
00:10The way that they looked against that New York Giants football team in the opener was
00:15Dallas Cowboy-like.
00:17All offseason, we kept being told that all the moves that they had made were going to
00:23see a different Dak.
00:25We're going to see a different Dallas Cowboys.
00:27You end up getting Christian Parker, your new defensive coordinator from the Eagles,
00:31and this was supposed to be a whole new defensive football team, along with a brand new approach
00:37on offense.
00:38And without a doubt, they laid an eight.
00:40Same old Cowboys.
00:42This has not changed for over 30 years.
00:46I don't care who you've had in there when it comes to being your head coach, when it comes
00:52to being the quarterback.
00:53I don't care where you look.
00:56One of the major issues has been what?
01:00The Dallas Cowboys, for the last 30 years, have not been able to do one thing, and that's
01:05replaced Jimmy Johnson.
01:07They just have not been able to do it.
01:09No matter how many moves Jerry Jones makes, no matter how many coaches that he puts in as
01:16head coach, every one of these head coaches fall flat on their face because of why.
01:21They do not run their own locker room.
01:24No matter what Brian Schottenheimer says after the ball game, he can't come away with that
01:30performance thinking that the football team still doesn't have a long way to go.
01:34You know, one of the things, not an excuse, guys, we did not play well.
01:38But you got young players.
01:40And young player closes and Jackson Dart boots and gets outside.
01:44We don't push three different times to the flat route.
01:47Excuse my language.
01:49You know, like, you know, those are going to happen.
01:51And we have to coach the young players better.
01:53But when you play young players, it's part of the deal.
01:57And they need to learn quickly.
02:00Just a lot of chinwagon.
02:02Same old, same old.
02:03It's the same old Cowboys.
02:06Whether it's Tony Romo, it's Dak Prescott, it's Brian Schottenheimer, it's Jason Garrett.
02:13Does it really matter?
02:15It all starts upstairs.
02:18The number one reason that Dallas Cowboys don't win is because of Jerry Jones.
02:25What's been the consummate the last 30 years, them not making it to an NFC championship game?
02:31They've got great players that they put in there.
02:34They have really a great understanding.
02:37Some of the players have been some of the best picks in the draft.
02:40But what's been the one thing?
02:42You've never really had a coach.
02:45The one coach that you had in there that you all of a sudden ended up having an issue with
02:50outside of Jimmy Johnson was Bill Parcells.
02:54Oh, and for the record, there was also an assistant coach that many people loved in that organization.
03:00And even Parcells went to Jerry Jones and said,
03:03Hey, you should have an understanding that this guy could be the heir apparent for me
03:09when I leave the Cowboys as head coach.
03:11And that guy's name was Sean Payton.
03:14And they allowed Sean Payton to walk out the building.
03:18The Dallas Cowboys, the reason that they don't have success, it's upstairs.
03:23There's no other explanation for it.
03:26There's no other understanding for it.
03:28The head coach at the Dallas Cowboys does not have the autonomy that the players look for when it comes
03:36to leadership.
03:36They're leaderless.
03:38They're rudderless.
03:39And it's because the owner neuters the head coach.
03:44Jimmy Johnson, when he was the head football coach in Dallas, ran everything.
03:49The trades, getting the draft picks, everything football operationally was under Jimmy.
03:57And Jerry Jones has been chasing the ghost of Jimmy Johnson for over 30 years.
04:04All those legendary players, all those legendary defenses, all those great moves.
04:10The Herschel Walker move that Jerry now is trying to take ownership of was never a Jerry Jones move.
04:18Jimmy Johnson constructed that move.
04:20The trade to go get Charles Haley to bring him to the Dallas Cowboys for them to go on and
04:26win those three Super Bowls.
04:27And the final linchpin on that defense was all Jimmy Johnson.
04:31Name me one thing that Jerry Jones has done that's championship quality in his time as general manager of the
04:39Dallas Cowboys.
04:41They should start printing shirts out every year.
04:44Same old Cowboys.
04:46Same old story.
04:48Same old hype.
04:50And you look at a fan base that keeps asking the question, if not now, when?
04:55Well, the answer is easy.
04:58It's never.
04:59They will never win a Super Bowl.
05:02As long as Jerry Jones is the owner of that football team and is making football decisions.
05:09Hey, I don't know why this is such a hard discussion.
05:13And it's really not.
05:15The ownership of the Cowboys has been fabulous when it comes to making money, the wealth of the team.
05:23Look at how much the team is worth.
05:26But look at what the team has done on the football field.
05:29Do you know who they are?
05:31They're now the Dallas Kardashians.
05:34Great storyline with no winning.
