00:00You know, one of the absolutely best three techniques in all of pro football history
00:04is Aaron Donald, and it was on display last night against the New York Giants.
00:08This guy had missed football almost three years, and Aaron Donald gets on a football
00:13field and completely controlled the middle of that defense.
00:16He was just absolutely spectacular.
00:18Three tackles in the ballgame, had a TFL tackle for loss.
00:22He is truly one of the greatest three techniques I've ever seen.
00:25You talk about his pass rush, tenacity.
00:27Here's the craziest thing about Aaron Donald, too.
00:31He's six feet, 270 pounds, going against guys 6'5 to 6'7 each and every single week,
00:40and it looked like he didn't miss a beat.
00:42Now, obviously, his body obviously has got to get up to speed when it comes to playing
00:46professional football because I don't care how many treadmills you hit.
00:50Playing pro football, there is nothing like it in the actual activity of playing pro ball,
00:54and he's been out of it for nearly three years.
00:57He truly controlled the middle of that defense, and I'll tell you, with that game coming up
01:02on Monday Night Football and you talking about what he did on Monday night, he was just absolutely
01:08spectacular.
01:08Now, with you getting Miles Garrett back after week four and you add him to the mix, that's
01:17going to be the most formidable defensive front in all of pro football.
01:21You got a really good-looking defense on that side of the ball.
01:24I think Chris Shula, the grandson of Don Shula, has himself a bunch of great players,
01:29kitchens in the backfield.
01:30The linebackers played great.
01:31They were all over the football field.
01:33I will say this about Aaron Donald, though.
01:35He was feeling it a little bit after the ball game, having been away from the game for three
01:40years.
01:41It's a little sore right now.
01:44I feel good to be back out there and get that first game out of my belt mode.
01:49Well, I feel like as it started going over, it's kind of slowed down, you know, towards
01:53the third or fourth quarter, but it's got it under my belt.
01:56Officially back playing football, you know, came away with a win.
02:00So, I'm excited about that.
02:02I think it's really remarkable.
02:04It's almost like George Foreman coming back out of a 10-year respite to become the heavyweight
02:10champion of the world again.
02:12And you're starting to see a little bit of this.
02:14And by the way, maybe a little bit of time away from the football game, maybe it gave him
02:18the opportunity to rest that body because of how active he was.
02:22You're talking about one of the greatest TFL guys, tackles for losses in NFL history,
02:27one of the greatest sack artists.
02:28And I said it, maybe the greatest pass rusher, as the three technique in NFL history.
02:34And how about this?
02:36The Rams came to him and said, I'll tell you what we'll do.
02:40One year, $25 million with incentives up to $30 million for one year.
02:44I don't know, man.
02:45Maybe you get an opportunity to extend this guy's career a little bit more with Miles
02:49Garrett playing on the other side of him.
02:51There's no doubt that I love the fact that Sean McVay ended up being held accountable for
02:56what he did when it came to the travel and how they went down to Australia the day before.
03:01And they thought they were going to take out the 49ers and the 49ers put the whooping board
03:05to them.
03:06And that was just an absolute error when it came to a divisional game that they needed
03:10to have.
03:11Well, they rebounded.
03:13And they rebounded with a player that you really didn't know what you were going to see last
03:18night.
03:19I didn't really know.
03:20And that was one of the focal points of that game.
03:22I wanted to see how Matthew Stafford was going to rebound, and I wanted to see how Aaron
03:26Donald was going to play in that football game, being away from the game for almost three
03:30years.
03:31I thought he was great.
03:32I thought his conditioning was great.
03:33He's still one of the strongest men in all of pro football.
03:36He's a 550-pound-plus bencher.
03:39Plus, this guy is able to really have a great engine and really a great motor when it comes
03:43to having the tenacity to be able to get after quarterbacks.
03:46Not only do you have a great three technique that has great technique, but also he's got
03:51a great engine, and he's got a great tenacity to get to the quarterback.
03:55These guys are like hound dogs, man.
03:57They just sniff it out, and they go find it, and they go find the game.
04:01And that's exactly what you got with that dog, because he is a dog.
04:04And then you put the last year's sack champion at 25 on the other side of that.
04:10Boy, I'll tell you what, that Rams team, they're going to be a tough team to beat over the
04:15next month and a half.
04:17And if I were them, their odds right now, the way they're looking, that football team,
04:21in my opinion, is going to be the best football team in the National Football League by the
04:27end of the year if they can keep everybody upright and Matthew Stafford can continue to
04:31play.
04:32Look at the stars that they have on that Rams team.
04:35Dude, Devontae Adams was just spectacular last night.
04:39Matthew Stafford was spectacular.
04:41The play calling of Sean McVay was just absolutely spectacular.
04:46I'll tell you what, the mustard uniforms I wasn't a fan of last night, but I'll tell you,
04:51the way that they put the board to the Giants, the Giants got to have a really come to Jesus
04:55conversation about what they're going to do moving forward, especially at that quarterback
04:59position and protecting that guy.
05:00But the Rams, absolutely awesome.
05:03Great return for Aaron Donald.
05:05Great return for the football team.
05:07Back to where everyone thought they were going to be.
05:09That football team, again, in my opinion, they're going to be a tough out.
05:15And with Aaron Donald playing the way he's playing, dude, the former Pitt Panther, he
05:20looked great last night.
05:21First game in nearly three years, and that dude didn't look like he missed a beat.
05:27And that guy, I'm going to tell you, I wouldn't be shocked if you see double-digit sack numbers
05:31this year where he goes over 10 sacks and makes his statement as being the greatest three
05:36technique in NFL history, not saying a lot, with some of the greatest tackles that I've
05:40ever played in the game.
