00:01Scott, an excellent 3-1 win at home to Harrogate tonight.
00:04Superb in the first half and then managed it really well in the second.
00:07Must be delighted after that.
00:08I'm glad you said we managed it well because it didn't feel like that.
00:11No, listen, I think no two halves of football are ever the same.
00:14And we spoke about it at half-time.
00:16They're going to come out, they're going to throw caution to the wind.
00:19And they did, they changed their shape.
00:21They put more bodies on our last line.
00:23And we had to deal with a little bit of pressure.
00:26We had to adapt very, very quickly.
00:28But the first half performance was out of this world.
00:31I thought the boys were absolutely brilliant.
00:33I thought some of our play was exhilarating.
00:36Quick, fast tempo.
00:37And when we do it correctly and we do it how we want to do it,
00:40I think we can compete.
00:43And then second half, like you said, we had to manage it.
00:45I thought the boys managed it really well.
00:47Could have been better at times.
00:49But listen, if someone had said to me this morning,
00:51you win the game 3-1, I would have snapped your hand off.
00:53So yeah, got a look at the positives.
00:55Annoyed that we conceded, but listen, it is what it is.
00:58Yeah, I mean, that's a Hargut team that obviously come down,
01:00started well with seven points out of nine.
01:02And so, yeah, you had more than taken that at the start of the day, weren't you?
01:05Yeah, they've scored ten goals in three games for a reason,
01:07because they're an attacking force.
01:08So for us to limit them to one is great.
01:11We've conceded less than a goal per game.
01:13We've obviously got three goals tonight, which is hugely important.
01:16And the man that's got them, it was a hell of a hat trick.
01:20I thought the actual, sorry, the actual level of finishing was very, very high.
01:26All three goals really well taken.
01:28Absolutely delighted for him.
01:30So for Tristan Abrams to sort of, hopefully it's the rebirth after last season
01:35and what's happened and this is a new start.
01:36And to see them singing his name at the end was incredible.
01:39Yeah, I mean, obviously you weren't here last season when what happened happened,
01:42but, you know, he was farmed out to Chelmsford, you know, two goals in 26.
01:45And now he's got a hat trick tonight, the equaliser at Kidderminster,
01:47you know, four goals in a little over half of football, wasn't it?
01:50Yeah, exactly that.
01:51He's got four goals, I think, in about 90 or 100 minutes,
01:55which will be great for him and will also be great for us.
01:58So for him to do that, it shows his character.
02:02It shows his desire to want to do well.
02:04And I think with someone like Tristan, listen, he's a really good age.
02:06He's had a good experience and he's playing football not only for himself,
02:10but for his family.
02:11He's got a young family with two kids.
02:13No one goes out there to try and play badly or upset people.
02:16And tonight, I think, listen, he's absolutely won everyone over.
02:19For what he's done for me tonight, for the players,
02:22for himself and the football club, that can't be questioned.
02:25And all three were really sort of quick clinical finishes, sharp finishes into the corners,
02:29you know, all different types of goals.
02:31You hear managers saying it all the time, that he does it in training all the time.
02:33And he honestly does.
02:35His finishing is very, very good.
02:37But no, I think for me to have that mindset where maybe you've got the fan base on your back
02:42because of maybe his behaviour or the decisions he's made or performances
02:45where he's not tried hard enough to shape that off in that manner,
02:48shows the kind of player in which he is.
02:51And he owed that to the football club and he knows it.
02:54I spoke to him yesterday about it.
02:56And what a way to repay, what a way to repay everyone.
02:59Three and a half at half time.
03:00And it could have been more, you know, you were sort of cutting Harrogate open with that sort of quick,
03:04incisive attacking play and sort of, yeah, plenty of chances really.
03:07Yeah, listen, we can't get greedy.
03:08I think we've played a team that were in the EFL last year.
03:12They've signed players for money in the summer.
03:15They've gone and bought players.
03:16So for us to compete with a group of players that have come from the National League South
03:20and to do it in a really nice way, I thought some of the football was great.
03:25It was fast flowing.
03:26It was fast tempo.
03:27But there was so many individual performances that I've got to sort of tip my hat to tonight.
03:33One of them is behind the camera now, Dom Anasani.
03:35I thought he was absolutely brilliant.
03:36So he does all the work that goes unnoticed, but I could go through the whole team.
03:40I was just going to come on to Dom.
03:41That key moment, that goal line block at 3-1,
03:44that shows the levels of the commitment and the way he's thrown himself.
03:47And that's a really key moment there, isn't it?
03:49We've got no one playing for this football club to have a payday or anything like that.
03:54They're all in it because they want to be here.
03:56They want to do well for the football club.
03:58And you can see that, right?
03:59They're as honest as they come.
04:00They run all day long.
04:02They'll put their bodies on the line.
04:03They'll fight their scrap.
04:04And like I said, it's hard to pick out individuals.
04:07But yet again, Kiki Oshalaja and Michael Stickland tonight,
04:11absolutely ridiculous in terms of their performance levels.
04:13I thought they were great.
04:15And they kind of set the tone being at the back of the pitch.
04:17Hazy, solid again.
04:18Full backs, midfield.
04:19The amount of work that Conor got through as well.
04:22Yeah, it's just a great night.
04:24Yeah, I mean, hard to pick players out.
04:25It was such a good night.
04:26Conor in the midfield, they got through a lot of work, didn't they?
04:29Sort of really impressive.
04:29Yeah, they have to.
04:30Otherwise they won't play.
04:31It's as simple as that.
04:32So they know they've got a run.
04:34I am quite demanding of them.
04:35It's the way in which I like to play.
04:37And that sounds really selfish because it's my way and they either do it or they don't.
04:42But the boys are doing it at the moment.
04:44We've got some tired bodies.
04:45We've also got to rest and recover now for another big game on Monday night.
04:48Four points before tonight was probably a pretty solid, decent start.
04:51But now seven points from four games.
04:53It's a real good, real good start now, isn't it?
04:55Yeah, now it is.
04:55I just said after Saturday it was an OK start.
04:59Pleasing enough.
05:00I think all of a sudden now it's a really good start.
05:031.75 points per game, if my maths is correct.
05:07And yeah, listen, we would have taken that.
05:08I think to get our first win here as well, the boys probably experienced for the first time at the
05:13end,
05:14just what it's like to play for this football club.
05:16For them to sing their names, Tristan's name and then my name at the end.
05:19Listen, it's one of my best moments in football that I think as a manager to get that sort of
05:24ovation.
05:25I can feel my face going, no, it's just incredible.
05:27It's nice to get the win and we obviously want more of that.
05:29Yeah, obviously you want to make this place a fortress in that moment at the end,
05:32you know, sort of go in front of the East Bank and sort of just take all that in.
05:35You know, new players at the club, we really appreciate that tonight.
05:38Yeah, listen, that feeling, you can't describe unless you're in it.
05:43I think people can see it, you can feel it a little bit.
05:46But yeah, listen, I'd give back some more wages, I think, just to feel that at the end of a
05:51match.
05:51After 90 minutes, my emotions are now all over the place.
05:54Just wanted the whistle to go at the end.
05:56Not that I felt like we were hanging on, I thought we defended quite well.
05:59But yeah, listen, just want the game over.
06:02And obviously, you know, the traditional back-holiday Monday, so a quick turnaround,
06:05a trip to Eastleigh-Hampshire Derby and they've started really well.
06:08One at Hartlepool tonight got nine points.
06:10Yeah, listen, it's a game that we can obviously look forward to.
06:14We spoke about a target that we wanted from these two games.
06:17We're on target to get it.
06:19We want to make sure that we get something from both matches.
06:22So yeah, they've started excellently well.
06:24I know, obviously, the manager, he was here previously.
06:27And I know a lot of their players, so we'll have to be bang at it to go there and
06:30get something.
06:30We'll have to wait a second.
