00:00We've got the Bass Church foyer crew here to help out with the poppies, and I've just
00:26brought it out. What's the most difficult bit of this then? Go on, or is this just a doddle
00:32to you guys? A doddle. He's speaking too soon, isn't he? Yeah, right, well we'll make sure
00:38we video the whole lot. Can you just get it the right way around? I said it's the right
00:43way and the wrong way? Yeah, so it's thinner on one end I'm guessing. Right, okay, well
00:47good luck with that guys, I won't distract you anymore. So we're here with MP Helen Morgan
00:52and Pauline. So Pauline, you were kind of the brainchild behind the poppy here, weren't
00:58you the poppy tower? I was, yes. So have you ever done anything like this here before at
01:03the church? No. No? I'm not a knitter neither. Yeah? How many poppies are knitted on that
01:10roughly? There's roughly about 3,770 together, and then I have about 5,000 overall knitted.
01:19Yeah. So where have they come from? Is there a lot of knitters here in Bass Church? Yeah,
01:25there's more than what I ever thought there was going to be. Knitters and grocers. Yeah,
01:29yeah. Just put it out on our local newsletter, and I think it was winter, and everybody just
01:35decided, well, let's get on, and so we just, yeah, just carried on. I must just say that
01:48the whole of community of Bass Church came along to do this. Yeah. Tying on, knitting, providing
01:55wool, the net, and we held lots of meetings in different pubs in the church. So it was a
02:00huge Bass Church community, and also some people from out of the community as well. Yeah. So,
02:07yes. Well done, great. And Helen, what do you think? It's looking good up there, isn't it?
02:15It looks absolutely beautiful, doesn't it? Yeah. The church here at Bass Church is gorgeous
02:19at all times of year. Yeah. But that is really, really stunning. I really like the purple ones
02:25as well. Yeah. And I've been educated, but they're for the animals that died in it.
02:30Oh, that's what the purple, okay. Interesting. Yeah, yeah. And a proper community effort with
02:37the local fire. Did you get in touch with him, did you, and say, look, we're going to need
02:41some help? We've had a proper fall before on the church. Yeah. And they've done it many times
02:46before. Yeah, yeah. And it's sort of part of their major training. Oh, well, yeah, it works for them as well, doesn't it? Yeah. Well, it looks fantastic. So, well done to all involved, guys. Thank you. All right. So, we've joined with a couple of members of Bass Church, Bowman Heathen District,
03:02Royal British Legion. What do you think then, guys? Now it's up. It looks fantastic. It's absolutely superb. We're
03:07really delighted. And proper nice community effort, wasn't it? A lot of people have turned out to see it go up to them. A lot of people, though. A lot of
03:14hours. You know, knitting and crossing the puppies. I think they've done an absolutely fantastic job.
03:20And it means a lot to everyone involved in the Legion, of course, just that it's that visible sign that, you know, we
03:26haven't forgot. We do remember. Absolutely. Great stuff. Well, what's next on the agenda? A cup of tea
03:32and warm-up? I'm on duty in the spa shop. Oh, yeah, doing the puppies. I'm on the table with the puppies. Wow. Well done, sir. Yeah.
03:40A cup of tea and a slice of cake for you, mate. There you go. We look forward to a choir concert
03:45this evening here, which is raising for the puppy appeal and the church as well. At the
03:50church here this evening? Oh, fantastic. We'll have a great time, gentlemen. Thank you. We will.
