00:01Scott, a really impressive 2-0 win against Portsmouth in a pre-season friendly
00:05and an impressive performance must be very happy after that.
00:07Yeah, I think it's just looking at the endeavour, the work rate,
00:11maybe the ideas of how we wanted to play, I think it all came together.
00:15I thought it was really impressive for the first 60 minutes
00:17and then obviously making 10 substitutions, it's never easy
00:20and you worry that it might go wrong.
00:23We did have to obviously withstand a little bit more pressure for the last half an hour
00:27but we're playing against the top side, top players.
00:30But overall, I couldn't be any more pleased with what I saw today.
00:33I thought the lads were outstanding, could have had a couple more as well.
00:37But yeah, to say that we had a 1-2-0 today, I'd have ripped your hand off.
00:41But fitness, injuries, we've only picked up one little niggle.
00:45So yeah, overall, great day.
00:46Pre-season friendly and it was noticeable straight away,
00:49the work rate and the endeavour was there from the kick-off, wasn't it?
00:52I think for me that's the biggest compliment you can pay one of my teams
00:55in terms of the work rate.
00:56I just said to our club media that the things you get clapped for
01:00playing for this football club is working, running, tackling.
01:03You'll get clapped for a nice goal, of course you will,
01:05but it's the basics, it's the non-negotiables.
01:08I think today that the fans probably saw a team that will run
01:11and like I said, there was a lot of tackles that were going in,
01:14working together in little groups and packs and hunting the ball back.
01:17So overall, really, really pleased.
01:20I thought we looked really fit, which is something that we pride ourselves on.
01:23So overall, yeah, it's been a great evening.
01:26They said those first 60 minutes were excellent
01:28and the goal was coming really.
01:29You had to build up a pressure for quite a few attacks,
01:32building up to that first goal and then Hakim obviously...
01:34Yeah, we threatened I think with our press.
01:36We went back a couple of times quite high.
01:38We should have scored just before we scored the first one.
01:40Then it was a short corner, it was a great finish from Hakim.
01:42And then Gilbs for the second one, outstanding.
01:45So he obviously wins the ball back and then we convert it.
01:48So no, for me, it's been really good to see.
01:51I wanted to see us on a good grass pitch.
01:53We've played on three difficult surfaces so far,
01:55two away from home and one AstroTurf,
01:57where there's not been too much tempo to the game.
02:00But you can see the people that want to dribble with it.
02:02Hakim Sander, Basil Tuma at times today were outstanding.
02:05And yeah, it gives me that hope, that confidence, that belief going forward
02:09that we can be a team that's going to be dangerous.
02:11Yeah, so first home game in pre-season.
02:14You'll want to make this a fortress obviously when the season does start
02:16and sort of embed your habits here like you did today.

02:19You want people to walk out the ground on a Saturday afternoon going away happy.
02:23You don't want it to be a miserable place where no one expects to come here and win.
02:27You want the fans to actually have that belief and confidence in the group
02:29that they're going to get three points.
02:32And I don't think any team's ever had success without having a good home record.
02:36So for us, it's extremely important.
02:37Once the East Bank gets filled and we've obviously shot fans and supporters
02:41and I think it's going to be a great place to play.
02:44And I think that will give us the extra yard, two yards,
02:46that we didn't look like we needed today, but it will certainly help going forward.
02:50Early kickoff for the England game, but still over a thousand fans in,
02:53which kind of shows what the club's about really, doesn't it?
02:55Yeah, do you know what?
02:56There's obviously been a lot of talk about the game and the time of the kickoff,
02:59but it's probably a good pre-drink, a place to get together with your families
03:03and hopefully go and see something special tonight.
03:05So that would top the evening off brilliantly well.
03:07We're staying here to watch it, some of the group, which would be nice.
